Lost Time
I write you this cause I really don't know what happened to us that night. I know there was something. We have laughed about it , but something unexplained happened. The year was1975, the first few days of January. My sister in-law and her husband had us over for late night family gathering.
We lived in Taylor Michigan and they lived about 40 miles away just inside Wyandotte Michigan. I was pregnant and due any day; my two children were with us. Daughter about 4 and son about 2, my husband and myself.
We left their house about 2am. A big cold snow had covered our car. Her husband and my husband were both handicapped, so any snow to be swept or ice to be scraped was up to her and I. The thing we joked about was she had just a few weeks earlier delivered a son and I was due any time and we were doing men's work.
We said our good byes and headed home. The roads were not bad cause the salt trucks and scraper had plow already when the snow first hit early that night. We left the street and got up to Ford street ----T---- which runs like this line we turned left on to this street, driving straight home till we come to Allen Rd.
Allen Road crossed Ford street and a train track run caddie corner on the road. We should have turned right and straight down Allen about 6 miles and another turn to the left on Goddard road and in 30 min we would be home. On Ford Rd I noticed the traffic was next to none and the roads were clear, no lights no noise. I turned to make sure the children were ok in the back seat.
I had one hand on my stomach, I felt the turn to the right the crossing of the tracks, and the next thing I remember was we both said at same time, "how did we get back here?" It was as tho some one picked our car up in the turn and set it back down the road about 10-15 miles where we started on Ford Rd.
I quickly turned to see if my kids were in the car. They were, I remember my husband saying, "I turned, I know we turned". We never said another thing, nothing, just as tho it never happened. It seemed that there was a time lapse but I am not sure.
We went home went to bed and never said nothing to each other. It was so odd. Time would come later we would try to explain it , try to tell others, or just laugh it off. But something happened that night I can't explain it. He can't explain it. My father said you took a wrong turn and got turned around. There was no way, no way. We never told any one but in jest.
Can you explain it for us?
