A Little Knowledge...

What a way to start a new position?! As the newly appointed Chief of Security aboard the USS Saratoga, I had no idea it could become so crazy. Here I am new to the job and already I have to deal with a break in the security shield surrounding the computer core and a crazy, almost insane, Chief of Sciences Commander Scott running loose aboard ship beating up on my security people and the arrest of Assistant Science Officer Proudhawk for attacking Commander Scott on the bridge.

My first concern was for the ship, so I sent a security team to the Computer core to investigate the break in of the screen and told them to report back to me and to the Captain what they found and the current status of the shield. But it was the second problem, that of the science officers, which posed the most trouble. I decided to nip it in the bud, so to speak, and use all available security personnel to track down and capture Commander Scott before someone got seriously injured.

Thus I was so occupied with two of my security people when we encountered Scott in one of the corridors on Deck 6. Forgetting that she had telepathic and telekinetic abilities, we went for her. She quickly dispatched my two colleagues using her abilities. As for myself, she had other plans.

"So, Lieutenant, you think you can capture me!" Scott says. In her eyes, I saw a devil-may-can gleam.

"Commander Scott, you are under arrest. You will accompany me to Sickbay so the doctors can take care of you. You are very sick." I said to her.

"I have no intention of returning to Sickbay and placing myself in the hands of those medical, medieval witch doctors!"

"But, Commander, you need help."

"I am perfectly fine. So fine in fact, I can even prove it!" and in saying that, she threw me down the hall with a judo move. A judo move I had taught her while I was still only the combat instructor. But unlike the lessons, this time she used her telekinetic abilities to increase the effect of the move. I was thrown half-way down the corridor. But that didn't stop her. She came after me. Her second judo toss threw me through the doors of one of the rec rooms on Deck Six. I was still conscious and she, sensing this, continued her attack. Sore and mad, I got up to try and refrain her. (Note: use example of Admiral Quinn's walk toward Riker in episode 'conspiracy at Starfleet')

She again used a judo throw which I had taught her and tossed me around the rec room like a rag doll until I lost consciousness. I awoke some two hours later in Sickbay with a headache and a lot of sore spots on my person.

"Enough fun and games!" I said to myself. With that said, I got out of Sickbay as fast as possible. That is the only thing I could agree on with Scott. Sickbay is full of witch doctors. I had to formulate a plan to capture Scott. Then it came to me. Why not use a telepath to capture a telepath. I had just remembered that we had Lt. Proudhawk in the brig for attacking Scott. Given the opportunity to get out of the brig, he could help capture Scott using his own telepathic and telekinetic abilities. With that in mind, I went to the Captain.

"Captain, we have no chance against Commander Scott and her heightened TK and TP abilities! We need help! I request permission to release Lt. Proudhawk from the Brig and have him capture Commander Scott, A.S.A.P."

"Make it so. But on the condition that Proudhawk be escorted by one of your security teams at ALL times!"

"Aye, aye Sir. It shall be done immediately."

Unknown to the Captain, Lt. Proudhawk was at that very moment being released from the brig. With a team of security personnel accompanying him, he proceeded to search for Commander Scott and in finding her, capture her. Eventually, he did capture her, even though he technically violated his release by shaking off his security escort. He accomplished his mission and as an added benefit, cured Scott of her madness. For that reason, no charge will be filed against him for his escape.

A few days after her cure, I met Commander Scott in one the rec rooms on Deck Five.

"How about teaching me some more judo moves, Lieutenant."

"We will see, Commander, we will see." I told her. But in my mind I was saying, "No way am I going to teach you any more judo moves, at least in the near future until I am sure you won't go off the deep end again. Next time, I could end up seriously injured or dead."

It just goes to show you what a little knowledge can do!!
