OPTIMUS PRIMAL  After returning to Cybertron from prehistoric Earth after the Beast Wars, Optimus Primal soon found himself being hunted down by Vehicons. To make things worst, he was then infected with the virus that had allowed Megatron to conquer Cybertron. Optimus Primal was summoned by the Oracle who then reformatted Cheetor, Rattrap, Blackarachnia and himself into their techno-organic forms. Optimus Primal was the first to train himself to transform into robot mode and helped the other Maximals to achieve enough self discipline to transform. He has a close bond with the Oracle and sometimes gets visions or dreams. When the Maximals discovered that Cybertron was originally a planet that supported organic life, Optimus Primal presumed that the Matrix wanted Cybertron restored to its original organic state. However, in attempting to do so, he almost destroyed Cybertron. After bonding with the Matrix he soon learnt that he was wrong... that what the Matrix wanted was a techno-organic Cybertron... a planet comprised of a bio-mechanical symbiosis. Optimus Primal feels personally responsible for Cybertron's fate and that of all the Transformers whose Sparks are under Megatron's custody. Abilities: Optimus Primal's body can absorb enemy energy bolts fired at him, which he redirects back at them! He can also expel energy blasts from his arms or chest. Optimus Primal also has two jets on his back, allowing him limited flight in robot mode. His affinity with the Matrix also allows him to tune in with familiar Sparks and reformat other Transformers. However, his greatest power is arguably his sheer determination. In Beast Mode, Optimus Primal is invisible to Vehicon sensor arrays. Weaknesses: Reformatting other Transformers severely drains Optimus' power. During his recovery time, he is almost completely helpless. Also, the guilt that consumes him at times reduces his effectiveness as Maximal leader. This often leads to confrontations with his lieutenant, Cheetor. Due to the complexity of the techno-organic transformation, Optimus will revert back to beast mode if his concentration is broken. |
