Moose and Squirrel's X-Files Website Reviews

As Published in The X-Paper

Moose: And once more it's time for reviews from Scully and Mulder's favorite cartoon characters. Well, okay it's a guess, but that's why Squirrel keeps me around. To say the really silly things. And that's why I love her!

Squirrel: No, the real reason I keep him around is that he's cute. Secondly because he's funny.

M: Anyway, our first site this week is called The X-Files: For The Detailed-Obsessed X-Phile, and you can reach it by going to http://spooky.mulder.com. But, when you do, make sure you have at least two hours you can afford to spend here, because you're going to need it. This is one of the better sites I've seen so far.

S: There is an incredible amount of "stuff" to be seen here!

M: But, trust me also on this my fellow Federal Agents, this is not the kind of thing you want to view if you a tad sensitive to someone calling you a shipper. This is a take no prisoner's kind of site, and it's funny as hell!

Just the page names here alone should make you laugh. Fun With Guns is just too darn funny. I think (and I hope I'm not reading too much into this page) but they are making a very spot on comment about how some sites obsess a bit on the types of photos they post. And if I'm wrong about this, it's still cool to see Mulder managing to hold onto his gun.

S: I think the Tulip Garden dedicated to Clyde Bruckman is very sweet….you can leave your own comments and flowers if you like.

M: I also like the rather innovative idea of posting "free" X-Files links. Lord knows, there aren't enough of them out there, right gang? (Is my tongue showing too much in my cheek?)

S: Speaking of links, you simply must go to the Stats Attack! section and click on the link to The Fine-O-Meter. Not strictly part of the main site, I know, but you gotta give the webmaster credit for just unearthing this link.

M: And it takes a really sick mind to come up with the Bee Squad page. Again, it might tweak some of you the wrong way, but it is funny, funny, funny!

S: I kind of liked the Xnicknames section. I noticed a couple of familiar names listed…

M: Overall we have some great graphics, wonderful photo work, and clever writing. This is inspired, chock full of wonderful things to see and proves that if powers such as these were used for good instead of HTML, we could have solved… well, one or two of the world's problems. And on top of that, there are links to some of the author's other interests. If you are really brave, click on the "Itchy & Scratchy Online" link. HOOOWHOOO!

S: Also, if you want to see how 'detail-obsessed' the webmaster is, look at the What's New section. There are constant updates here - explains why this site's counter is almost at 12,000!

M: Our next site is touching in a way that reflects the authors are really 'shippers. And it shows in all the things they done here. The Cat and Dolphin's X-Files Archives (http://geocities.datacellar.net/area51/portal/6737) isn't the best site I've reviewed for graphics, or design. Which doesn't mean any of what's here is bad. Far from it. It's simple, and in some ways very pure. And that's the real charm here. This site has, in some ways, the feel of a really good character episode of The X-Files.

S: It's all fanfic, all the time, so if that's not your thing, you won't enjoy this site. But if you like whiling away an evening reading, this is a good place to check out.

M: Their material that is archived is fairly good. Simple layout and clean links, but it's the feel that I really like about this site. Call me a big moose, but this site reflects more about the characters in the show just by the way it's put together than some of the others I've seen around.

S: And they spend time on the site, adding things to it; choosing a story of the week. It shows that Cat and Dolphin care a lot about their site, which makes a big difference.

M: And it reminds me of how neat it is to have someone very close to you in your life. Mulder has Scully, Dolphin has Cat, and Moose has Squirrel. Just like it's supposed to be.

S: And that's why I really keep him around… Anyway, that's it for this week. Our thanks go out to Noffoy and Kitty for recommending that we check out this week's sites.
