Moose and Squirrel's X-Files Website Reviews

Squirrel: Ah, another week - another couple sites for your browsing pleasure!

Moose: Our first is X-Treme X-Files (http://geocities.datacellar.net/Hollywood/Screen/5169/). This is an archive site, and it’s a good one. I like the general layout - really clean and slick.

S: The logo for the site is nice, and so is the large pic on the front page, but it’s a little slow loading. Great to look at though! Be warned - they do list the upcoming episode on the first page, but only the title. You have to go elsewhere to get info on it. No surprise spoilers!

M: Though some of the material can be found elsewhere, the stuff here is nicely formatted. For example, there’s that classic photo of Mulder and Scully from PMP, pointing their weapons. I’ve only seen this a few times, and usually in a small format. Here, it’s large and clear.

Any site that has material from the X-Files/Simpsons crossover gets points from me. That photo reveals a bit of information about Mulder’s ID card that is… well, revealing.

S: The episode guide is 100% up-to-date, with pictures! But like I said don’t look at Season 6 if you don’t want to know!

M: The selection of wav files is rather nice.

S: They’re an excellent archive, with most of them not appearing elsewhere.

M: It’s kept very current, with a nice note on the opening page regarding the birth of the newest Duchovny. A good site, worth your time if you’re looking for stuff.

S: Probably my only complaint would be that with all the pictures throughout, it does load a little slowly. But if you’re tired of squinting at your browser to see a pic, it’s worth it. A great site overall, with lots of obvious work put into it.

M: Our second site is, well… different. The formal title is Order of the Blessed St. Scully the Enigmatic (http://www.security-one.com/obsse/) although they shorten that to OBSSE. Keep this in mind when you wander through this site. There are more laughs, more silly bits, more things going on here than I’ve seen in a while.

S: It’s a very irreverent site.

M: Want to know how Scully… I’m sorry, her Saintliness explains anything you can think of? Find the "Scully Rationale Explanation Random Generator". Interested to see just how far fans can take a joke? Find out by seeing what St. Scully herself sent to the people who run this site. Want to read the best, most dead on (pardon the turn of phrase) memorial to the living dust mop that shared an apartment with Dana?

This is the site to answer all these questions. I’ve never claimed to have an a religious experience online before, but just go into the "Chapel" and see if it doesn’t do something to you.

S: Make sure your sound card is working for the full "effect".

M: Take the Admittance Test. See if you are a candidate for membership in this order. I believe I missed only two questions, but I suspect my heart isn’t sufficiently pure.

S: I love the "Wisdom of St. Scully". My hands down fav - "Is there anything that you *don't* believe in, Mulder?"

M: Now, design-wise, this is a great webpage. Well crafted with fast links all around. Nice choice of colors, fonts and graphics (what episode did that pic on the Admittance test page come from?) from first to last page. Updated recently and just a hoot.

S: The thing that impresses me the most is the sheer volume of material here - and they keep a single voice throughout. Extremely well done.

M: They are involved in fund raising to fight Neurofibromatosis. That says a lot about the worth of this site, but they’ve also managed to be entertaining to boot. Visit this one, you won’t be disappointed!

S: We’d like to thank The Rose for her site recommendation - and as always, email us at moosnsqril@aol.com with comments or sites to review - we’re always browsing through the web because we know the truth is out there!
