Moose and Squirrel's X-Files Website Reviews

Moose: Ok folks, M&S have finally finished our load of summer missions. Unlike some people, we traveled all over the Southwest, looking for the truth. We found Cancerman's Offspring, and a Long Haired TLG guy, but that's a story for the funny pages.

Squirrel: I kind of thought the summer would never end - I'm going through major X-Files withdrawl!

M: On to the reviews! We all love the X-Files because it's a serious study of the dark natures of our government and ourselves, right? Another theory fired out the air lock. Go to The X-Files In-Jokes List and see how funny our favorite show really is!

S: This site has a catchy splash page with really engaging graphics.

M: Clean, easy links and updated on a very regular basis, it also has scads of funny bits. Bill Nye the Science Guy, a children's science show of all things, explains why Mulder and Scully keep plugging away at their search.

S: I was particularly amused by the "Star Trek Deep Space Nine" tribble episode reference…

M: Afraid of going to bed alone after watching the show? Be more afraid of going to the bathroom alone!

S: Who knew that bathrooms were such pivotal plot points?

M: And, a special bonus! While Moose has a certain fondness for a certain cartoon comedy show, it turns out that our favorite FBI agents make an appearance on Celebrity Deathmatch, the MTV Claymation program. All the details, and an X-Files photo you probably don't have are right here!

S: I think there's a couple people don't have…

M: Recommended!

S: Very much recommended, just don't start paging through it at work, like I did. We don't want any of our readers to get canned from spending all their time on the internet!

M: Speaking of time, X-Files fans, real X-Files fans sometimes show us how much time they have on their hands by doing web sites. The X-Files: Cancerman's Lungs is a great and creative example. This is a dark and brooding site, and its theme is always… true to itself.

S: It is a little dark, and and might be hard to read, depending on your browser. But the colors all *fit* and besides it looks a little like smoke, actually…

M: How does Cancerman deal with the truth? How about Ratboy? Skinner? Scully? Mulder? It's here. Of course, make sure you've got a Doctor available to help, because you've got to know your gross anatomy to work here!

S: There's some good links in the Bronchial Tubes section; and by far the best part of that page is the well-worded intro. Much better than the usual "hey, here's some links".

M: Some of the bits don't work (I was disappointed by the "Little Known Episodes" page. Some were amusing, but some fell flat) but it's a good solid site.

S: I liked the Top Ten Lists…

M: This may not be the kind of site loyal fans will flock to, which is a shame. It's a classic example of finding a core theme and maintaining it throughout the whole process.

S: Absolutely. It's not always easy to pick something and stick with it, but this site does it admirably. Make sure you check it out!

Well, that's it for this week. As always, feel free to write us at moosnsqril@aol.com with site recommendations, conspiracy theories, or comments on our reviews. Until next time!
