Mollys Bright Eyes

"Was there anything else?" Chakotay asked hoping it was more than a Dear Jane letter.

"My Mom and Phoebe are fine, he said they were writing. Must have been among the lost messages."

"I'm sorry."

She brightened. "And he kept Molly and one of her pups. Mollys Angel just presented him her first litter. He's keeping one for me." She reached for her coffee. "He's named her Mollys Bright Eyes." Her eyes glistened with unshed tears.

"No more safety net," commented Chakotay.

"Alone again."

"You're never alone Kathryn, not while I'm here." He reached out and gently touched her hand.
