Glad you asked! Sea Cadets is a fun, free, activity filled program, for young men and women 12-18 years old. Just as our name suggests, we do things related to the sea, and the Navy. We use games, activities and information, to develop skills in sailing, handling a rifle, physical fitness, leadership, camping and lots of other exciting stuff. We also help in our communities.
When you join cadet you join a group called a corps. The corps get together once or twice a week to learn skills. They also go on sailing and camping weekends four times a year. Many cadets go to Summer Training Centres at places all across the country so they come back and teach at their corps or get summer job teaching sailing, or music, just to name a few.
The people who run the cadet corps are mostly naval officers of the Canadian Forces. We also get sponsorship from the Navy League of Canada. Together they develop and teach exciting programmes for cadets.
It's a great way to meet new friends, learn new skills and have a lot of fun along the way! Read on to find out more about Sea Cadets in your area we love to have you join us.
