The Science of Rifts

Okay, so I'm something of a techno-dork, right? I like to include aspects of real science in my game where possible. So, I've done some research and came up with some information on a lot of the aspects of the Rifts game. That's what the articles below are about.

If you have anything similar you would care to write about, please send it to me. I'm particularly interested in more explanations of skills (for example, what is involved in chemistry and what can you do with the skill).

By the way, I'm no scientist (I have a BA in Communications, not exactly a technical field). For you educated folks out there who see something wrong with any of my articles or if you see something I missed, please let me know so I can change it. Thanks.

Heavy What? The Science of Rifts, Part One: Nuclear Reactors. This article talks about that thing that makes our bots move. Believe it or not, they're not powered by uranium, but by water (well, a something found in it anyway). I also describe what happens when nuclear reactors are damaged and the nature of nuclear weapons in the world of Rifts. (2/14)

Big Bada Boom! The Science of Rifts, Part Two: Rail Guns. A Borg ain't a Borg without one. This article talks about our favorite weapons. I also describe the ammunition (it's cheap and easy to find), and I also describe a new, more powerful Rail Gun that turns a bot into an army. (2/14)

There's more to come! I'm currently working on an article about the nature of space, including how you would travel through it, how space ships really move in space (sorry kiddies, but Star Trek and Star Wars got it all wrong), and the nature of space itself (Einstein kinda stuff, time dilation, that sort of thing).
