So what exactly are dragons? The dragon is an entity that exists on the astral plane. They hold immense power, and can even transport between the astral and the physical planes. The power that they hold is as diverse as the dragons themselfs. There are no two that look alike, as in our plane, and no two have the same powers. Some have the power to control fire, others can see the future, yet others control the rains and waters. Depending on the locale in the world, there are many subgroups of dragons. The Wyvern has been found in the British Isles, and has two legs, but no wings. The Worm, found in the same area, has wings but no legs. The many-headed dragon is found around the Mediterranian area, including Greece and Asia Minor. The American dragon, also found in Austrailia, has four legs and two wings. In the eastern worlds, dragons seldom breath fire, and are more benevolent, although hot-tempered and destructive when provoked. They are sometimes pictured as wingless, but can propell themselves through the air if they wish by balancing between the Earth's magnetic field and the winds. In China, for example, dragons are portrayed with four legs, a long serpentine body and a snake like tail; they range in size from a few feet long up to 1,000 feet in length. They could speak, were able to alter their forms and sizes, and had a varying number of claws. The Chinese Eperor adopted the five claw dragon, making it law only they could have clothing or paintings of them. All dragons are said to have the ability to take on human form; they are extremely curious about all things and may wish to experience human life directly from time to time. |
