Prospero

Argh! It's a nasty god-like demon from the nether regions of the seventh level of hell!! Actually it's just Prospero. He's a demon of godlike power who has been trapped upon the altered Earth of Arkayne (poor bloke!). The glowing cylinder he wears on his belt is actually the vessel that contains his immortal soul and is the source of all his power in our realm. If it were ever to be broken, his disembodied spirit would return to the nasty dimension from which it spawned. The humanoid body he controls is really just a corpse that Prospero has reanimated and continues to control with the power stored within the vessel. The body slowly over time becomes more and more corrupt, and must eventually be replaced with a fresh one, as prolonged exposure to demonic energy tends to turn human bodies somewhat....mushy.
