People have been interested in faeries for hundreds of years.Magical, Tiny, and Beautiful, who wouldn't be? Well, only a select few have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one, which has raised doubts from many people that they actually exist.(Which they do!!) If you have any information on the faeries lifestyles or history, please email me. I wish to prove that they actually exist to all the nonbelievers.

These creatures were not always referred to as faeries or fairies. The name originated from the Latin fata, which meant the fates. It then went to the French as feie which later turned into 'fay'. Finally it became as we know it, faery.

Faeries are called many diffrent things by diffrent people. Here is a list of a few of their nicknames.
  • Little People or the Wee Folk
  • The Blessed Folk or the Good Neighbors
  • In Ireland they are the sidhe (hill folk) or the gentry
  • In Wales they are called y tywyth teg (the fair family) or bendith y mamau (their mother's blessing)
They had so many diffrent names because it was thought unlucky to call them by their direct name. Some believed that if you knew someone by their name you would have power over them. Being that faeries are vengeful creatures people didn't want to upset them by refering to them directly.

If you would like for faeries to come around by your home, leave small amount of milk out for them. Also, try to let the plants in your yard grow freely especially wildflowers and toadstools.

 In the movie A Fairy Tale:A True Story the girls used this chant to summon the faeries:  
         "Come out from you faery Bower, 
          Come upon this golden hour, 
          Come to us we beg you please, 
          Faeries dancing on the breeze" 
      I don't know if it works or not because I've never tried it, but it was cute and it worked for the girls.
