ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jack Shaver is a under-employed actor and a science-fiction/fantasy/history geek of long standing, who has read everything he could get his hands on from the age of eight. He has degrees in liberal arts and broadcasting. He has been a professional student, a construction worker, a newspaper reporter, a temp, and a third-shift convenience store clerk; some would conclude he has trouble keeping a job.

He now talks crap to strangers in renaissance fairs for a living. Working in an often wildly inaccurate depiction of history, though he knows it's just showbiz, has not decreased his irritation at that sort of thing.

While still in his teens, he wrote a full-length Greek tragedy parody, The Tragedy Of Midas, that received the 1986 Thompson Theater Playwright Award.

He has a firm enough grip on reality to be embarrassed at having created a website centered on a show he only half-likes. He may follow up someday with a page bitching about the various recent versions ("PERversions" he'd say) of Star Trek.

He finds Highlander II and Dune the most disappointing movies ever made. He prefers the current crappy Robin Hood show to the crappy one that aired on TNT because the lead isn't such a sissy. He prefers Conan: The Adventurer to Late Night with Conan O'Brien because, though the former isn't very good, the mute guy rules. He's never sat through Highlander: The Raven, (he calls it Highlander: Warrior Princess at his sister's suggestion.)

He knows he is somewhat arrogant and obnoxious, but hopes you like him anyway.

If he is related to actress Helen Shaver of POLTERGEIST: THE LEGACY, he doesn't know it, though it's not a common name. He is single, lives in North Carolina and on the road, and has no tattoos, though he finds "small ones where you can't see them" inoffensive. He also can't stand piercings more exotic than belly buttons, but a figures a nose ring is better than a tattoo because you can change your mind.

He thinks he has better hair than Kevin Sorbo, but not as good as Adrian Paul.
