What this Site is all About |
This is a bare-bones posting of everything we've already got in presentable form. There will be considerable expansion and upgrading of the site by early May. (Everything I say may be subject to a changed mind later.) All articles will hopefully see further fine-tuning before long; Teegar, my collaborator and editor, is currently so busy she barely has time to breathe. Another article, "Mythology (Also History) Gone Horribly Wrong" has begun to be written; more will probably demand creation before I'm done. We plan to add a number of features to the site. The articles will soon have spot illustrations from the many screen shots we've scanned in.
This site isn't about pictures, though. You can find that kind of thing anywhere. It's also not about fanfic, though since it's largely about writing, we hope fan writers will find many helpful clues to the story-telling process in our analyses. Intelligent XENA chat rooms have more in common with what we're trying to accomplish than anything else. But instead of an often-digressive dialogue that covers everything in creation, we're posting articles that present ideas in an organized, focused form.
But because everything's ultimately connected, check out all the articles while you're here.
We'd love to post intelligent responses. Teegar and I will consider submissions of literate articles about anything in the Herc/Xena-verse. We may abuse our editorial position to append our by-lined opinion to anything we wish to respond to; it's our site. If you can write in reasonably non-profane, polite, grammatical English, we want to see your stuff; spelling counts.
We're pro-Joxer, anti-Gabby, and Subtext-neutral; we don't have a problem with "the rift" storyline, because conflict makes for interesting stories. We hope our biases are only apparent in directly relevant articles, and will not drive part of our audience away from the rest. You don't have to agree with us to submit something, but you do have to make your case convincingly.
As she has yet to put her name on anything, it should be writ large that Teegar Taylor did everything that doesn't have my by-line on it. She talked me into this. I named the site and had a hand in the design, but I'm a net neophyte. She drew the cartoons, did all the work of assembling the site, and collaborated with me in arriving at the opinions I've written down. I'm depending on her to edit some of my articles into coherent form; I hope she'll improve the ones already posted, yet. I hope to do the same for her when she frees up her schedule enough to write articles. Teegar made this happen.
