Homecomings & Holidays... ![]() Since I received this in the e-mail a short time ago, I thought I'd post it, since many of you out there probably have forgotten how my friend Darrell looks. Heck, I was getting to the point of having to work it through my memory, seeing as how he's been serving in Iraq a lot the past few years.
The good news on this front (besides the picture) is that Darrell recently let me know that he & Stephanie may, in a year or two, move back to Lubbock, which is great news. Ida and I could always use another couple to hang around with, and it'd be great to have another member of "the gang" back in town. A lot will depend on Darrell's military career, o'course, and I recently heard on the news that they're making tour of duties last longer (I think it was 15 months instead of 12), so we'll have to see what happens in the future. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Ida and I spent Easter, unsurprisingly, at church, as I managed to rush home from work in time to get her to the 8:30am service. I'm glad we went, as it's always good to get in a little spiritual healing, especially at this time of year. Of course, I still prefer the 5:00pm service better, mainly due to the music (the 8:30am 'choir' consists of an older woman on the piano and 1-2 guys behind her that can barely be heard), but they don't have a 5:00pm service on Easter (dangit), so we made due. I also have to confess to having been on a chocolate binge this week. Not good for the diet, but great for the taste buds! Actually, I think I could have done a lot worse, as I've only really eaten some M&Ms and some home-made Snicker-Doodles that Ida had bought from a co-worker. Interestingly enough, it takes the system a little time to get used to chocolate again, keeping me from going too overboard. I have just had a major craving for chocolate chip cookies, though. "My name is Andy, and I'm a Chocolate Addict". Oh well. There are certainly much worse things to be addicted to. I can't think about much else to comment on today. I thought about talking about Imus getting fired or the Duke Lacrosse team's innocence, but I decided to save my opinions for another day. Who here really wants to hear me rant, anyway? I'll also spare you guys & gals comments about Sanjaya and American Idol. Yep, Ida & I watch the show, although I don't consider us hardcore fans. Yet. Actually, somewhere along the way, I became a "Reality TV" fan, as I watch AI, the Amazing Race, Beauty & the Geek, and Survivor. Sometimes they're more entertaining than my 'regular TV' fare of Lost, Medium, Bones, and others. Well, guess I'll get out of here before I ramble too much more. As always, hope everyone's living Da Vida Loca.
