This Spidey costume was made by the now defunct JK2Costumers in Van Nuys, California . After being measured all over, the full body one-piece suit was made with heavy weight lycra with appliqued webbing (about 15 yards of it!) and cheap ninja style boots (which were glued to the costume's socks).

This suit arrived July 1999. I sold the suit after I located a costumer who made an outrageously better quality suit that truly reflected how the classic Spidey is drawn. I noticed that the suit zipper treads blew out quite quickly, and the seams popped after only 3 appearances. I had to stop the fraying of the lycra webbings, and paint on my own finger web lines. IN ALL HONESTY, I WOULD NOT BUY FROM THIS COSTUMER AGAIN, however, for a few hundred dollars, you can have a Spidey suit that somewhat looks like Spider-Man, but with artistic licenses taken by the costumemaker to look different.
I plan on appearing as Spiderman soon afterward throught Delaware and Maryland, already including one each this September, October, and December .
Here are but a few pics of me as Spiderman (in my old suit). More will come eventually. Remember, if you've any questions or comments, drop me a line--check out the contact info back on the home page! |

Here Spiderman crawls weightlessly across the stage. Note his cool, streamlined suit. Any idea where the zipper could be located? (hypothetical question--no need to email me with an answer!)
The first time I pulled myself into the suit, it took me 20 minutes! Now it takes a little under ten since I know the secret to slipping inside and pulling the mask on while zipping up! Ahh, the secrets of crimefighting! |

Watch out! He's getting up from the crawl!
The eye patches are a fine cloth mesh that have been painted with a white fabric paint. The fabric paint brightens the white mesh tremendously, and helps hide the smaller cut eye holes from which I look out at the world.
Surprisingly, the costume is not as hot as I thought it would be. Although it can get a little laborious to breathe when you're active as Spidey, the lycra still lets your skin breathe and not pass out (yet, from what I've experienced!) |

Getting ready to throw a web off to stage right, Spidey is finally on his two feet. Too bad I haven't the webbing rope with me in this pic--I guess I even was too lazy to draw in a white web shooting out as well.
The kung fu shoes incorporated into the suit are excellent! Not only do they let me run around and not have to worry about stepping on a sharp rock or on a scorpion or something, the boots are padded inside are are extremely comfortable. Too bad all shoes aren't that good! |

This is my favorite pic of me suited up as Spiderman that I have thus far. There's something about the pose that makes it look so cartoony! Perhaps it's the overall pose, or the placement of my hands, but whatever happened, it made the shot!
As if I'm ready to pounce on the Green Goblin, this shot really shows the quality and outstanding workmanship of the suit creators. The mask really grabs your attention and the boldness of the webbing really makes this costume stand out--literally as well as figuratively. The spider on my chest is actually embroidered right onto the fabric.
If you've been curious, I don't wear anything under my suit--except for a support belt. What you see is 100% me, this time without an athletic cup for protection or bragging rights! |
