The character of Garak, the sole Cardassian still living on the space station, played by Andrew Robinson, was first introduced in Deep Space Nine's Past Prologue. Mr. Robinson is an accomplished stage actor, and has performed in varied roles, from Richard II to M. Butterfly. He won critical acclaim for his portrayal of Liberace, in the ABC Movie of the Week. He was the "Scorpio Killer" in the film Dirty Harry, and has appeared in Cobra, The Drowning Pool, and such genre horror films as Child's Play 3, and Hellraiser. During his soap opera days, he played opposite Kate Mulgrew (Voyager’s Captain), as her brother.
