Margaret Atwood was born in Ottawa Ontario in 1939. She is one of Canadas most distinguished authors. Most of Margarets work is mainstream. One of the exceptions is
the critically acclaimed The Handmaids Tale. It won the first Arthur C. Clarke award
in 1986 as well as Canadas Governor General Award. It is still considered one of the best Canadian SF stories ever written. A film version of The Handmaids Tale was made in 1990.
Margaret also has two short story collections containing many SF and
Fantasy stories. They are Bluebeards Egg and Good Bones and Small
Murders .
Margaret's newest novel is a near future apocalyptic tale called Oryx
and Crake and is now available.
