Canadian born Candas Jane Dorsey lives in Edmonton Alberta. Although she has only written two novels and a handful of short stories in the SF genre, Candas is arguably
one of the most active supporters of SF in Canada. She is a founding member and past president of SF Canada which is the Canadian association of professional Science Fiction writers. She was guest editor of Tesseracts 3(with co-editor Gerry Truscott)
and Tesseracts
8 (with co-editor John Clute). Candas' novel Black Wine won the 1998 James
Tiptree Jr. Award and the 1998 Aurora Award . Her short story Sleeping in a Box won an Aurora for best short-form work in 1988
and her collection Machine Sex and Other Stories was nominated for an aurora in 1989.

John is one of the Jurors for the first Sunburst
Award which will be presented for works of Fantastic Literature
published in the year 2000.
