On Spec is a Canadian magazine that features Fantastic Fiction in all of its
forms. Its first issue was in spring 1989. It has since boasted contributions from
Canada's best SF, fantasy and horror authors. Some of the many include Robert J.
Sawyer, Tanya Huff, Charles de
Lint, Spider Robinson, James
Alan Gardner, Sean Stewart and
countless more. On Spec has printed 3 Aurora winning short stories including
Eileen Kernaghan's Carpe Diem (Fall
1989), James Alan Gardners, Muffin
Explains Teleology to the World at Large (spring 1990), and Robert
J. Sawyer's, Just Like Old Times (summer 1993).
The names behind On Spec are Diane L. Walton as General Editor; Jena
Snyder as Production Editor; Derryl Murphy and Peter
Watts as Fiction Editors (along with Jena and Diane); and Barry Hammond
as Poetry Editor.
