Solaris is Quebec's premiere Science Fiction Magazine. Solaris was born
under the name Requiem in 1974 by some college students in Cegep
Edouard-Montpetit in Longueuil under the direction of Norbert Spehner.
It featured first published work by such noted SF authors as Elizabeth
Vonarburg, Jean-Pierre April, and Esther Rochon among others.
In 1979 Requiem changed its name to Solaris with issue #28. At about the
same time Elizabeth Vonarburg became
fiction editor. In her 11 years at Solaris, Elizabeth helped launch the
careers of such notable authors as Joel Champetier, Francine Pelletier,
Yves Meynard and Jean-Louis Trudel.
Solaris is now in its 26th year of publication. The current editor is
Joel Champetier. It must be said that without Solaris, the development of
French SF in Canada would be completely different if existent at all.
I would like to thank Solaris editor Joel
Champetier for his help in creating this page. |
