Smiling to the jewel of fire hanging in the sky
She sets free a song of joy
The suns heat dazzling the sea
diamonds sparkling upon each crest
The rhythm of the tide is the music that fills her ears
Matching the beating of her heart
She breaks the surface of the blue and green
searching the land
rising beyond her
Feeling the air touch her gently
A breeze kissing tingling skin
Silently she moves through the water
Forests of sea weed wave
beneath her
beckoning her to stay
Their long leaves caressing and winding about her
tugging teasingly at her sleekness
She dances there a moment
Letting her hair billow about like ebony clouds
Fish of yellow and orange
hide in her dark tresses
joining the play
Closer to the shore
where the waves tumble to the land
she carefully watches.
Those who walk there dream of her
she has quietly sung her melodies to them
When they walk alone she stays near
almost longing to touch them
Before that desire can hold her tight
she surrenders to her lovely sea
The quietness of mystery
The beauty of what they do not know.
When the moon rises
the tide will rock her to slumber
Peacefully she will drift
as the sea embraces her
caressed softly by mermaid dreams
