Niads were water dwelling nymphs, unlike their mermaid cousins the nerids niads were only fresh water dwellers. They lived in brooks, springs and fountains-where ever there was running water basically. They were usually very kind and sweet natures and a beauty to match the sprckling water in which they lived. They were all female and imortal and they resembled that of a young woman. Though they were usually kind they could be veryplayfull and that could end fatily to those who were the butt of the joke (like the mermaids in peter pan) |
