Fate's Hand formed around a young Philodox of the
Silver Fangs, who returned from his Rite of Passage with a vision that
led him to believe he could control his destiny, even in opposition to
prophesies of the Apocalypse. He took the name Carl Mastersfate
and started winning the respect of others in his Sept (Warders
of the Earth), eventually forming a Pack.
Carl brought the Hand to the Sept
of Gaia's Strength to help repulse the massed bane attack. He
stayed because he believed that his part to play in the Apocalypse might
begin there. When Kyla offered him a Sept position at the Caern of
Lasting Strength, Carl moved his pack to Pangaea.

Carl's visions at his Rite of Passage have driven
him to build a strong Pack that can help him avert Gaia's defeat by the
Wyrm. He is, however, at a cross-roads, as he doesn't know yet where
his part of
the battle will play out.

Petyr's family sent him to the Fate's Hand in its early days, thinking he could challenge for control of it. Petyr never challenged for dominance because he, too, shares Carl's vision of the upcoming Apocalypse. Carl is the only leader he will follow in battle.

Stephan is always looking for a fight. His ferocity
poses a challenge to Carl: he can do great good for Gaia, but he
can cause great harm. Carl feels that molding Stephan is a test he
must pass. For Stephan's
part, he enjoys his role of "enforcer" for his pack, he just wishes
he had more of a free hand.

Wayne was actually born to a Garou of the Black Furies
tribe. As the Furies never accept male members, he was given away
at birth to a Sept of Silver Fangs, who felt responsible for him out of
noblesse oblige. Wayne has been a model Silver Fang and member of
his pack but, upon reaching the Sept of Gaia's Strength, he has taken many
opportunities to learn about about his revoked heritage.
