Session Twenty-nine
A grinning Bite of Frost and a taciturn Dmitri Ovius
visit the Children of the Sun to confer the office of Wyrmfoe upon Kyla.
Her first order of business is to orchestrate a raid on the Bishop's stronghold
in Detroit.
The toughest part of the planning is picking who
gets to go. Kyla gets demands from Garth not to be left out, she
feels obligated to take the Stormies and won't even consider going without
Madonna...
Madonna and Garth win the sweepstakes (after all,
the Stormies are a bit inexperienced for this) and the Sabbat loses. Basically
the Get and Children of the Sun trash a bunch of ghouls and vampires, don't
find the Bishop and return home with a few "magic" books in hand and a
few silver bullets in their hides.
Session Thirty
A vampire wanders into the Caern lands and demands
to talk to Kyla. It claims to be the Bishop (speaking through the
body of an underling) and tells Kyla that the Sabbat are packing it in
for now, to return in the far-flung future to terrorize the Sept's descendants.
Kyla scoffs, Derrick leads an attack that leads
to the obligatory vamp-on-a-stick ending. Derrick then blasts the
rest of the Pack for talking to a vampire instead of slaying it out of
hand. Kyla doesn't see what the big deal is as they were going to
squish it anyway...
A couple nights later, while on guard duty, Derrick
intercepts a new Garou trying to enter the Caern. This new Garou,
Marta
Twilightskies, is pregnant with a metis child and is looking for any
Sept that will let her stay and give birth. Knowing that this could
be a BAD THING, Derrick escorts her to the Morningstar's house to be wait
while he runs it all by the Elders. Zephyr give his permission and
Marta moves in.
The next night, Manny and Derrick team up with the
Storm Bitches for a little grand theft auto. They steal a couple SUV's
and a convertible, then trash the rest of the cars on the lot.
Manny finishes off his night by painting Madonna's
car pink, removing the roof, and placing an inflatable man in the passenger
seat while "I'm a Barbie Girl" blares from the speakers. Madonna
comes as close
to frenzy as anyone has ever seen her and demonstrates the Visceral Agony
gift for Manny, or rather on Manny. The fact that she now has a new
convertible might have saved his life.
Lastly, the Pack summons their Totem, Hyperion,
who promised to teach them a few new Gifts. Derrick asks, "Can you
teach me anything?" and basically gets asked if he accepts the other
Children of the Sun as his Pack. Hyperion then asks the Pack if they
accept him. After some haggling between Kyla and Derrick, they all
do. Thus Derrick joins the Pack officially
Session Thirty-one
Kyla gets a phone call from Lauren, the kinfolk girlfriend
of their contact at the Glass Walker Caern.
She tells them that she hasn't seen any 'Walkers for a couple days
and the Caern seems to be surrounded by ATF agents.
The Pack heads off to examine this in the Umbra
and finds the Caern is totally overrun by Weaver spirits and webbing.
There are also weird lumps of webbing scattered around the grounds.
After getting their butts whupped by some Pattern Spiders, the Pack decides
to take a look-see in the physical world.
Manny manages to sneak inside the Glass Walkers complex to find it full
of people wearing HazMat suits and running weird machinery in the Caern
center. The Caern's spiritual energy seems to be lowered to nothing.
The Pack tries the Umbra thing again, using Sense
the Prey to locate Darren, weakened and disoriented, inside one of the
webbing lumps. Taking this as a BAD THING, Walks summons up a horde of
Wyldlings, Manny calls Hyperion and some fire elementals, and the rescue
mission is on!
The Weaver Mages pulling the strings behind the
scenes try to stop our heroes, only to get summarily eviscerated.
Only two manage to escape, including the leader--a dead-pan Ben Stein wannabe
(AKA the sinister man from Walks's
latest dream).
The Glass Walkers are freed, but their Caern is
sealed up, even after Walks summons the biggest Wyld Spirit ever to revitalize
it. The 'Walkers begin to make arrangements for a Rite of Caern Building.
Session Thirty-two
The Sept of Gaia's Strength holds a council meeting
to decide whether or not to help the Glass Walkers re-open their Caern.
Bite of Frost advocates leaving the 'Walkers to twist in the wind because
it's their own fault and he doesn't want to deplete the strength of his
Sept to cover theirs.
Kyla and Walks, however, oppose this opinion. Kyla
because she wants to kicks some Weaver booty. Walks because a recent
dream
leads her to believe that the Ann Arbor Caern must be reopened.
Bite of Frost grumpily agrees to let Kyla do her
thing, BUT she can take no one except her Pack and anyone who knows the
Rite of Caern Building, unless she can find other Packs to help guard.
Thus Kyla Coalitionbuilder is born?
Kyla negotiates for Alpha Ganka Pylon from Grand
Rapids, a Pack of warriors from the Sept of the Sleeping Bear, and a Pack
of Black Furies led by Mercedes Wall of Steel to come and protect the home
front while she takes the Children of the Sun,
the Streetlight Prowlers, Fate's
Hand, and Zephyr at Dawn to help with
the ceremony and make sure it is uninterrupted.
The interruptions take unexpected forms. Mostly
policemen and S.W.A.T. teams that want to investigate the building where
the Caern is located. The Pack manages to chase/scare/lure the interlopers
away with a wide variety of tricks. For example: special effects
(spooky fog and eerie breezes), Jarryd's sleep gift, and stepping sideways
after leading a wild goose chase.
Grand Totals (unofficial): Rendered unconscious
by knocking heads together: two police officers. Killed:
One Black Spiral Dancer, one net spider. Sent to dreamland:
Eight S.W.A.T. team members. Stolen: One S.W.A.T. van, three
police cruisers, six service revolvers, nine shotguns, one tear gas canister
launcher, eight flak jackets, and a partridge in a pear tree.
The Caern is reopened, but at a lower level than
it was previously. When the 'away team' gets back they find that
the Black Spirals did, indeed, attack but were repulsed by the Sept of
Gaia's Strength and Kyla's reinforcements.
Kyla doesn't gloat (much) yet, though she has something
special planned for the next revel, her first as Wyrmfoe.
Session Thirty-three
Well, this busy month ended
with a bang as Cry of Winds, Walks, and Kyla all prepare to serve in their
official capacities for the first time. Cry of Winds arranges a special
opening howl for the Moot, then Walks wakes all of the assembled totems
as Caller of the Wyld, then Kyla begins her first ever revel with an assault
on a Black Spiral Dancer hive!!
The Pack and various allies
appear in the middle of "baddie central" and begin laying waste to Wyrm
Wolves: Kyla in her usual impaling fashion, Derek with a mass expenditure
of silver ammo and Jarryd playing tackling dummy for the Spirals to pile
on.
After defeating the Spirals
and their Caern's Totem, Green Dragon, the Gaians round up the remaining
Kinfolk captives and make off into the night, leaving several large Earth
elementals to fill in the Hive's tunnels. In splitting the spoils
of war, Kyla manages to break the Litany and insult Garth's honor by leaving
a top prize in the hands of the Pylons.
Upon returning, Derek challenges
Trent Lightningclaw successfully for second rank.
Session Thirty-four
The Glass Walkers are afraid
that passage to the Spirit World has gotten tougher in their lands and
ask Walks for her opinion. She manages to confirm their fears:
The Umbra in and around Ann Arbor has gotten both more Weaver-y and more
Wyrm-y.
The Pack finds out that Catherine called the Morningstars' house looking
for them. So, Kyla, Walks and Jarryd go to visit. They find
Catherine gravely (get it? GRAVE-ly?) injured on the couch and the vampire
who inflicted these injuries still skulking about. This would-be
assassin is quickly sent to his great reward and Catherine is revived thanks
to some "donations" from the assembled Garou.
Now that her hidey-hole
has been found, Catherine quickly moves to the loft apartment of James,
a normal fellow who is quite smitten with our little hemovore.
Marta's
baby is born, with all the attendant noise required of a Metis birth.
Mom and baby pull through fine, but Derrick's cabin is leveled. Later
that morning, Arn Banespitter
attempts to kill the baby, as it is a Metis. Derrick leads the Pack
to Marta's (and her child's) defense. The Elders scold Arn and move
Marta to the Caern center to put her under their direct protection.
Lastly, Madonna begins to
play retaliatory pranks on Manny. She begins by tying strategically-
placed pink bows on his person.
Session Thirty-five
Troubled by Catherine's suggestion that they play
the role of her "tame werewolf pack," the Pack agonizes over alternatives
to keep the Camarilla out of Belleville that won't: 1) start a war
with the vampires that wipes out the Glass Walkers; 2) give away
the location of the Sept; 3) turn them into full-time security guards;
or 4) get Catherine killed. To make a long story short, they can't
come up with one, so they go along with Catherine's plan after all.
It seems that the Camarilla is trying to establish
an economic foothold in town, but Catherine has sniffed them out a little.
Kyla sends the Hunter's of Doom on a bug hunt that wipes out one of these
ventures. Also, Catherine says that one expedition of vampires got
shot up by someone. She assumes it was the Pack, but it wasn't.
The Pack assumes it was the Get, but it wasn't them, either.
Upon leaving Catherine's, the Pack is attacked by
what looks like a 3-foot-tall purple dinosaur that keeps shouting "RAYZERSAUR!"
Pokemon from Hell? Great. Kyla sends the Storm Bitches to investigate
stores selling Pokemon stuff.
Catherine and the Camarilla vampires set up a meeting to negotiate the
future status of Belleville. Catherine introduces them to her "enforcers"
and tells them to bugger off before they become Kindred McNuggets.
Manny observes the meeting (mostly) unseen and pickpockets a few personal
items from the baddies, so maybe he can track them down later...
