You glance around and see a hallway, wandering through, the only light comes from torches along the walls. You see something by your foot, and pick it up. It is an old sign, made of wood that is now crumbling at your touch. You gently wipe it off, and see letters forming. You squint and make out four blurry words. They read:
To the Adoption Center
You continue on, your curiousity getting to you, and wander through a rusting door. Before you, sits a girl. She is humming to herself, and her brown hair falls in front of her eyes as she bends to pick something up.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I did not see you come in. Yealie, why didn't you tell me?" She looks down to the bench she was sitting on, and you see a young gryphon, perched there, feeding on small scraps of red meat.
You glance at her questioningly, and she laughs. "Sorry, I'm Elae. This is Yealie, her parents were grateful to me for some small thing and gave me her egg. Little did I know that she was supposed to be an empty shell! I soon found out that gryphon custom is to give away something with little value, with the receivor unknowing. Yealie suprised both her parents and me when she hatched. She is still pretty small for her age though. Gryphon hatchlings grow incredibally fast." At this the small gryphon swallows quickly and peers over her overflowing bowl. She grins, and goes back to her eating.
"This is the Adoption Center, in case you are wondering. This is where you can adopt your own mythical creature. Of course, you have to promise to love and care for your creature. Before adopting, it is strongly suggested that you read the Scroll. The left door leads to the Realm, where you can adopt almost any creature imagined, while the right leads to the Nursery, where you can adopt a mystery egg. The far right door leads to the Keep, where any unwanted creature is brought." At this she sighs, and you realize that the creatures in the Keep have been abandoned. "Please take time to look at them too, they deserve a little love from a good parent."
She points you to a set of doors, you see the door leading to the keep lost in the shadows, a mournful feeling in the air surrounding it. There is a table in front of the two, and you walk over to examine it more closely. "On the table is the Scroll, you might want to read it before adopting." Elae reminds you again.
