For cyclists with vision
[ Yahoo! ] options
Welcome to Neowatt-9.  This site has been made available to anyone who has vision.  I say that it is for 'cyclists with vision' only because that is my forte' and that is what the primary focus will be.  My name is Dan Waterman.  I hope that you find something you enjoy on my web site and I welcome any constructive comments.
Keep your vision clear.
For those of you unaware of who this is a picture of, his name is Lance Armstrong.  Lance is the current reigning champion of the Tour de France (TDF).  The TDF is considered to be the most physically and mentally challanging athletic event in the world.  Three weeks of battling the forces of mother nature, 5 hour rides at record-breaking speeds (as fast as 70 mph), little sleep, intense competition, and fatigue.

Lance is also a cancer survivor.  A few years ago he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  Soon the cancer was discovered in his lungs and brain.  A world champion at the time, with little to no chance for survival.  He survived.  He made a tough-fought return to cycling.  He won the Tour de France.  Twice.  He married the woman of his dreams.  He had a son.  He medalled in the Olympic Games.  He inspired thousands of cancer patients.  He inspired me.
If you would like to read a truly inspirational story of man's life and the turbulance anyone can encounter, I highly recommend Lance's autobiography, "It's Not About the Bike, My Journey Back to Life".  It covers his rags-to-riches childhood, early successes as a cycling champion, family struggles, the cancer fight, the fight to return to cycling, the fairy-tale ending (although it's not over yet), and the meaning it provided in a man's life.  Go to Amazon.com for a great deal.
This is a photo of Lance as he passes the finish line in first place in the first mountain stage of the 1999 TDF.  It was with this stage win that he put to rest the idea that he could not hold up to win the overall Tour.  Although the struggle didn't end there.  Now the accusations of drug abuse ensue.

He reaches his arms to the sky to commemorate his late friend (Fabio Casartelli) who was recently killed in the Tour.
To go to Lance's home web site at www.lancearmstrong.com, click hereTo read about Lance's cancer foundation, click here.

Lance's home page covers alot of his current life activity, race results and training tips.

Lance's cancer foundation page provides the opportunity to discover more about the cancer community and how to help.
This is a web site for the Summit Freewheelers cylcling club.  They are a developmental group of cyclists with a strong showing in Summit County, OH.  Click on the symbol to the left for their home page.  There are alot of great links on this page as well.  Includes racing shcedules, results, sponsors, group rides, and more.
Brandon Fluharty is a stellar European soccer player, with alot to offer on his web site concerning vision and a true success story in the making.  Visit his site and see how it's done.  He is also an Akron, OH native.  He is second from right in picture. http://www.brandonfluharty.homestead.com/index.html.

For those of you interested in gaining a mental edge, this is a great place to start.  Brandon's Buddhist philosophy is very intuitive and non-invasive.
