To find the kobolds’ caves, leave the city and travel to the east until you find the river that flows along the eastern border of the Quivering Forest. Follow it to the north to its headwaters. There you will find two caves - one large and one small. The large one is a back entrance of sorts, but is guarded by a wyvern. Still, it is the entrance I suggest taking. It will start you off at 10,15.
When you find the old, crippled kobold (3), have a little pity and give it some water. It will relate journal entry 20 to you. You can let him go - he won’t raise any alarm.
You may run into a kobold offering a truce. If you refuse, he will spring a falling rubble trap on you and then you will be ambushed. If you accept, he will ask you to follow him to the treasure (he will lead you to the wyvern’s caves). If you refuse to follow him, he will spring an ambush in the same manner as if you had refused the truce. If you attempt to kill him, the same thing happens.
Princess Fatima has just escaped from captivity at the hands of the kobolds and may make a useful addition to your adventuring party. She will part ways with your group once you leave the tunnels.
When you fight the kobold king’s armies, there will be three waves with no time to rest between battles. I suggest continuing the battle after the enemies are defeated so that you can get healed up before the next wave. The first wave is nasty, with 46 kobolds and 4 trolls. Don’t heal for too long after you win the battle or the trolls will get back up and you will have to put them down again. After the first wave, several hidden ballistae will fire into your party causing significant amount of damage, but the second wave is easier than the first. It consists of 5 boars and another 53 kobolds. In the last wave, the two envoys will enter the battle along with two more trolls, two more boars, and an additional 8 kobolds. They two envoys (from The Boss, of course) carry two-handed swords +2. By the time the fight is over, the king has fled. Be cautious about following him - there are more guards covering his retreat. Three trolls, three boars, and 24 kobolds, to be exact. You will probably want to heal up before you go chasing after him.
In the King’s treasure chamber you might find a brass bottle jammed into a crack in the wall. Pulling it out will release the contents: an efreet named Samir Ahwal (any relation to the nomad leader?). He will ask you if you are vampires - only say yes if you want to fight him. Otherwise he will return to his bottle. The funny thing is, fighting him is worth less experience points than the amount you would get if you carry the bottle with you (the xp reward for finding a magic item). If you haven’t cleared out the graveyard yet, he may come in very handy when fighting the master of the graveyard.
