Hatching of Clutch 20
Tesrith was about to settle down for the night when she had a sudden change of plans. Her eggs were about to hatch. She could tell that even before her mate started humming from the ledge above the hatching grounds. "Mikahly! Wake up rider mine. They are coming now," she told her rider who was in the middle of her dinner. There was barely any light left of the evening. Mikahly sat her plate down and rushed out of the dining hall, grabbing the blond haired scamp that was the rider of her green's mate. Z'later muttered to himself about being jerked away from his food until he heard the humming, then he began to jump about with excitement. They reached the Hatching ground tp see that there were already candidates edging the Sands that held the eleven eggs. As if the eggs were waiting for them to arrive, they began to shake and crack. A brown tumbled out of an egg at the same time as a large bronze dragonet. The bronze scanned the boys standing off to the side and Dillon, Benet, and Tenaj seemed to tense as the goldish toned bronze's eyes settled on them for a second and moved on. Dillon was looking at the brown that was teetering akwardly across the Sands searching for his lifemate and wondering what was the secret of the dragon's genetics when there was a voice in his head, "Do you want me to be brown, D'llon? I am Dalinoth." Glancing down he realized that the bronze was talking to him of all people. "No of course not, you are a wonderful dragon. Are you hungry?" he said leading the bronze off to the area designated for feeding the hatchlings. While Dillon was Impressing, the brown made his way to Tenaj, saying, "Gadith wants you not that mighty bronze, Tenaj." The young man was thinking of the last Hatching he had stood for and hoping it would not be repeated when he heard the voice of his lifemate. "I am glad you want me, brown Gadith. My father's dragon is brown," he said leading the brown off to join the others. As the bronze and brown were searching for lifemates, two greens hatched and made straight for their lifemates. Galgea was humming a song softly as the first green approached her saying, "you sing well, Galgea. You may call me Piath, rider mine. We can sing together for turns to come." The young woman was so surprised that she stopped her song and dropped to the ground to embrace the green. "You will sing with me?" she asked while leading the green away. Franacie watched the other green roll out of the way of a hatching bronze and looked down to see her sprawled at her feet. "Do you need help, Areth?" she asked not knowing how she knew the green's name. "I can do it, and you're tall from here," the green answered adoringly. Fran bent down to help the green up and realized that she had a friend to be there throughout it all. Gared was watching the eggs rock and quiver when he noticed a brown that was having trouble with a shell fragment stuck on his wing. He quickly helped the brown remove it and was walking back to the others when he heard, "Do I have to keep following you around or will you stop and let me thank you?" He stopped in his tracks, "My wife will just adore you, Lorenth. I didn't know you wanted me." The brown merely nudged his hand and said, "Your wife?" The weyrling promised to explain that later as they got off the Sands. Two blues broke their shells at the exact same time as another bronze. The three boys left on the Sands wondered who would Impress which dragonet. The bronze hung back a bit studying the three while the blues warily walked past the bronze to their choices. Torin and Benet were approached by the blues who named themselves as Blakith and Samath while the bronze stayed where he was as if he didn't know if he wanted the only male left on the Sands. Finally he said, "Generet, I am Shawanth. Your name is much to long for your size, but I had to figure out what to call you before I decided. I like G'eret, personally." The young man stood there trying to figure out if it was a joke or not, glancing at the two blue weyrlings he said, "You've a long name for your size too. What shall I call you?" The bronze didn't answer as he nudged the blues towards the food. Torin laughed as his blue stated, "I am Blaketh and I am hungry, please feed me. I am going, bronze one." When the bronze nudged him, he took off racing towards the food and stumbling along the way. Torin followed saying, "I can run faster than that, Blaketh. We will be very fast one day." Benet was busy thinking off all the things he wouldn't have to do anymore as he led the blue off the Sands. "What won't you have to do, rider mine?" asked Samath. "Well, I won't have to watch the spits everyday or things like that, because I have you now." There were three more eggs on the Sands that Mikahly thought were greens for sure. Although the bronzes had been a suprise to her, so she was ready for anything except for the two whites that seemed to step gingerly out of their shells. She saw the remaining girls faces light up and smiled as they Impressed Fayla and Jenifor. "As soon as you can fly Shannilth, we will visit my sister, Falayna," Fayla told her white, as Jenifor remained emotionally speachless staring at her own white dragonet, Gerolith. The whites were followed by a gold that knew exactly who she wanted and headed straight for Karalsah, who was thinking of how neat a tapestry of the two whites hatching would look when her mind was filled with a name Elanith. She looked down to see a golden beauty and smiled widely at the realization that she had Impressed. She glanced to see the whites had found lifemates as well. Fayla was leading her white Shannilth alongside Jenifor and her white Gerolith when the gold weyrling joined them. Mikahly nodded her congrats to them and turned to her mate, "Wow, a gold, two whites and two bronzes. You did exceptionally well for your first clutch, Tes," she said in awe glancing at the equally awed brownrider. [ Home ] [ Apply ] [ Lower
