- TAZZ
v.
KURT ANGLE
Kurt
Angle, who debuted in November 1999 at Survivor Series, had been undefeated
going into this match, which was against a "mystery opponent." Tazz,
who made his debut at this event, had been hyped since after Survivor Series,
with mysterious promos telling the fans that "the mood is about to change."
Tazz, billed as
the "Human Suplex Machine" in ECW, dominated Angle in this match, and finally
rendered the Olympian unconscious with a controversial sleeper hold, the Tazzmission.
Angle's undefeated streak ends.
(Winner: Tazz, via Tazzmission)
- Tag
Team Table Match: HARDY BOYZ v.
DUDLEY
BOYZ
Going
into the match, the Dudleys had hospitalized the Hardys' manager Terri with
a powerbomb through a table. The Dudleys were masters of this match
in ECW, and remain so in the WWF. The first-ever match of its kind in
the WWF, the winning team had to drive both members of the other team through
a table in an offensive manuever.
The match-up was
very intense and brutal, but the Hardys got the win after Jeff nailed Bubba
Ray with a chair on top of the entranceway and sent him through two tables,
and after Matt set D-Von up on a table, which Jeff put D-Von through with
a Swanton Bomb.
(Winners: Hardy Boyz)
- Miss
Royal Rumble 2000 swimsuit contest
A
time-filler event, it had been spoken of for weeks, but some fans looked at
it with trepidition since the geriatric MAE
YOUNG was involved, and not everybody thinks she's all there upstairs.
The participants were THE KAT,
TERRI, TORI,
LUNA, IVORY, and
JACQUELINE (though Ivory and Luna
refused to participate). When Mae Young came down and started to show her
"puppies," it was fortunately censored by officials and Mae Young's squeeze,
MARK HENRY,
but the judges of the contest were impressed and unianimously named her the
winner!
(Winner: Mae Young)
- Triple
Threat Intercontinental Championship: CHRIS JERICHO
(co-champion) v. CHYNA
(co-champion)
v.
HARDCORE
HOLLY
Going into the match, Jericho and Chyna had been named co-champions by the
McMahon-Helmsley Era, and this match was to determine the undisputed
champion. Holly, the self-proclaimed "Big Shot," wanted the title as
well.
Jericho was thrown out of the ring early and Chyna attempted to pin Holly,
but Jericho returned with a bulldog and a Lionsault for the win!
(Winner, and undisputed WWF Intercontinental
Champion: Chris Jericho via Lionsault)
- Tag
Team Championship: ACOLYTES v.
NEW AGE OUTLAWS (champions)
Road Dogg and Billy Gunn,
members of DX and of the McMahon-Helmsley Era, were dominated early by the
bigger Bradshaw and Faarooq, but the referee had been knocked out and couldn't
administer the pinfall. DX-er X-PAC
came to the ring and helped out by distracting Faarooq long enough
for Gunn to hit the Fame-Asser on Bradshaw for the win!
(Winners, and still WWF Tag
Team Champions: the New Age Outlaws via Fame-Asser)
- WWF
Championship Street Fight: CACTUS JACK v.
TRIPLE
H (champion)
Going into
this match, it was originally booked between Triple H and MICK
FOLEY's deranged persona of MANKIND,
but after a bloody match on RAW is WAR, Mankind said he wasn't able
to participate and named Foley's sadistic persona of Cactus Jack as his replacement.
The fight was brutal and bloody, with Cactus Jack hitting the WWF champion
with a 2x4 wrapped in barbed wire. Triple H battled back, sent Jack
through the announce table and then handcuffed his hands behind his back.
He worked Jack over with a steel chair, but the King of Hardcore just begged
him to keep hitting him. THE
ROCK came to the ring and made the save with his own chair shot
to Triple H, and a police officer freed Jack. Cactus piledrove Triple
H through the Spanish announce table, then threw him in the ring and got out
a bag of thumbtacks. Pouring them in the ring, he went to Triple H,
who Pedigreed him. When Jack kicked out of the pin, Triple H Pedigreed
him again in the thumbtacks! He got the pin and the win, but had to
be stretchered out. Cactus Jack got up, pulled him back to the ring,
hit him one more time with the barbed wire, then walked out with thumbtacks
sticking out of his forehead.
(Winner, and still WWF Champion:
Triple H via Pedigree in thumbtacks)
- The
Royal Rumble - Going
into the match, THE
ROCK was
a marked man by BIG
SHOW,
who took offense to The Rock's comments about him. During the match,
a few non-participants interfered by running to the ring -- KAIENTAI
and
the MEAN
STREET POSSE --
but all were thrown out of the ring by the participants. RIKISHI
PHATU,
the fifth entrant, was responsible for the first seven eliminations, but he
was eliminated by the combined efforts of BIG
BOSSMAN, TEST,
BRITISH BULLDOG, GANGREL, EDGE, and
BOB BACKLUND.
X-PAC,
the final entrant, was thrown out by Big Show, leaving The Rock and Show.
The two attacked each other, and Show appeared to have the victory as he carried
The Rock to the ropes on his shoulder, but when he threw The Rock, he grabbed
the ropes and held on as Big Show's own momentum carried him over the ropes
and to the floor. The Rock had won and said he was going to Wrestlemania,
but Big Show came back and threw him out of the ring as the event ended.
(Winner: The Rock, last eliminating Big
Show)

- Intercontinental
Championship: KURT ANGLE v.
CHRIS
JERICHO (champion)
Angle
had claimed the European Title during the preceding month and claimed he would
be Euro-continental Champion by the time the night was over.
Jericho kicked out
of the Olympic Slam, which surprised Angle so much that he tried to hit Jericho
with the IC title belt. The referee stopped him, and the match continued.
Later, Angle tried to use the European title belt, but CHYNA
appeared and stopped him. Jericho charged the distracted
Angle, inadvertantly injuring Chyna in the process. As the ref tended
to Chyna, Jericho went for the Lionsault, but Angle picked up the IC belt,
hit Jericho with it and made the cover for the win. Referee EARL
HEBNER tried to explain what had happened to ref TIM
WHITE, but failed.
(Winner, and new WWF Intercontinental
Champion: Kurt Angle via belt shot)
- Tag
Team Championship: DUDLEY BOYZ v.
NEW AGE OUTLAWS (champions)
The
sadistic Dudleys turned the match in their favor when Billy Gunn injured his
left shoulder. Bubba Ray took advantage by clubbing his arm with a lead
pipe, allowing the Dudleys to score the 3D (Dudley Death Drop) on Road Dogg
for the win!
(Winners, and new WWF Tag Team Champions:
the Dudley Boyz via 3D)
- Tag
Team #1-Contenders Match: EDGE & CHRISTIAN v.
HARDY
BOYZ (w/
TERRI)
The
ACOLYTE
PROTECTION AGENCY (A.P.A.)
was at ringside to protect Terri, who feared for her life after the Dudleys'
attack on her a month earlier.
Terri surprisingly
turned on the Hardys in this match when she stopped Jeff Hardy from doing
the Swanton Bomb by pushing him off the ropes and later slapping Matt Hardy
across the face! This allowed Chrisitian to hit the Impaler on Matt
for the win. Terri celebrated with the Canadian brothers, but they were
just as confused. After the match, Matt grabbed Terri and demanded answers,
and the A.P.A. attacked the Hardys!
(Winners: Edge & Christian via
Impaler)
- TAZZ
v.
BIG BOSSMAN (w/
PRINCE ALBERT)
Tazz
locked Bossman in the Tazzmission, but Prince Albert attacked Tazz from behind,
earning Bossman the DQ. Prince Albert and Bossman double-teamed Tazz,
who refused to stay down, even after multiple shots with a nightstick from
the Big Bossman. Finally, WWF officials came to the ring and held Tazz
down!
(Winner: Tazz via DQ)
- No
Holds Barred: X-PAC (w/
TORI)
v.
KANE
Going
into the match, Kane was pursuing his former friend X-Pac, who betrayed Kane
when he jumped ship to the reformed DX and again when he stole Kane's girlfriend,
Tori. (It turned out Tori had been seduced by X-Pac when forced to spend
a weekend with him.)
Kane hit the chokeslam on X-Pac and prepared to Tombstone him, but Tori jumped
him. Kane turned, grabbed her and gave her the Tombstone instead.
He grabbed the steel stairs to use on X-Pac, but the DX-er dropkicked them
into Kane, knocking him down long enough for X-Pac to score the win!
(Winner: X-Pac via dropkick to steel
stairs)
- TOO
COOL & RIKISHI PHATU v.
R4DICALZ
(w/ EDDIE
GUERRERO)
Early
in the match, Rikishi grabbed Guerrero and hit him with his own lead pipe,
evening the score. Too Cool pulled Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn out
of the ring, leaving Rikishi with Dean Malenko. Malenko went after Rikishi's
injured leg, but Rikishi hit him with a Rikishi Driver and a Banzai Drop for
the win. After the match, Too Cool & Rikishi danced away to the
delight of the crowd!
(Winners: Too Cool & Rikishi
via Banzai Drop)
- Wrestlemania
Qualifying Match: BIG SHOW v.
THE
ROCK
Going
into the match, Big Show had proven to the McMahon-Helmsley Era that The Rock
was actually the final man eliminated from the Royal Rumble with video footage
to back up his claim. In repayment, Triple H booked Big Show in a match
with The Rock to give him his title shot.
Big Show hit The
Rock with a chokeslam, but referee EARL
HEBNER had been knocked out of the ring. Referee TIM
WHITE came to make the count, but Hebner pulled him out of the
ring and exchanged heated words with him. As the refs quarreled, The
Rock hit Big Show with a Rock Bottom and went for the People's Elbow, but
SHANE McMAHON made
his return, clobbered The Rock with a steel chair and helped Big Show get
the pin.
(Winner: Big Show via Shane's chair-shot)
- Hell
in a Cell, WWF Championship v. Career: CACTUS JACK
v.
TRIPLE H (champion)
The
stipulations of this match stated that if Cactus Jack won, he would go on
to defend the WWF title at Wrestlemania, but if Jack lost, then Mick Foley
would be forced to retire from WWF wrestling.
Early in the match, STEPHANIE
McMAHON-HELMSLEY had the door to the cell locked, preventing Jack
from fulfilling his promise to climb to the top of the cage. Partway
through the match, however, the cell was burst open by thrown steel stairs,
allowing the two to brawl out of the cell. Jack knocked out Triple H
with a piledriver and a shot from his 2x4 wrapped in barbed wire, but Triple
H got up and climbed up the cell to escape further injury. When Jack
followed, he was knocked off with the 2x4 and through the Spanish announce
table. Impossibly, Jack got back up and climbed to the top, where he
hit Triple H with the barbed wire, then set the 2x4 on fire. He went
for a piledriver on the fiery stick, but Triple H back body-dropped him through
the cell! The fall broke the ring below. Cactus Jack crawled out
of the hole, but Triple H was waiting with a Pedigree for the win. After
the match, Jack refused help from the medical technicians and walked out under
his own power as the fans chanted "Foley!"
(Winner, and still WWF Champion:
Triple H via Pedigree)
April

California
- BIG
BOSSMAN & BULL BUCHANAN v.
THE GODFATHER & D'LO BROWN
The
"pimpin' duo" were escorted to the ring by ICE-T,
who sings a rap version of Godfather's entrance on WWF Aggression.
A typical lower-card match, it was not much to talk about. Buchanan
got the win after hitting a scissors kick off the ropes on D'Lo.
(Winners: Big Bossman & Bull
Buchanan via scissors kick)
- Hardcore
Battle Royal: CRASH HOLLY (champion)
v. TAZZ v.
VISCERA v.
MEAN STREET POSSE v.
HARDCORE
HOLLY v.
HEADBANGERS
This
match came around after Hardcore's cousin Crash Holly won the title and vowed
to defend it 24/7. The rules of the match stipulated that whoever got
the last pinfall before the 10-minute time limit expired would walk out champion.
Crash came in the
champion, but lost his title to Tazz, who then lost it to Viscera, who then
lost it to Rodney, who then lost it to Joey Abs, who then lost it to Thrasher,
who then lost it to Pete Gas, who then lost it to Tazz (again), who then lost
it to Crash, who was finally laid out by Hardcore Holly before the time-limit
expired.
(Winner, and new WWF Hardcore
Champion: Hardcore Holly)
- T&A
(w/ TRISH
STRATUS)
v. STEVE
BLACKMAN & AL SNOW
The
team of T&A was formed when former fitness model Trish Stratus entered
the WWF. She immediately scouted Test and (Prince) Albert and became
their new manager.
Al Snow, who was
constantly trying to give his humorless partner a personality, brought out
a new mascot for their team: CHESTER
McCHEESERTON. The team of T&A is a dominant, physical
team, and they took it to "Head Cheese." They won when Test hit his
diving elbow on Blackman. After the match, Snow and Blackman beat up Chester.
(Winners: T&A via Test's diving
elbow)
- Tag
Team Championship Triangle Ladder Match: DUDLEY
BOYZ (champions)
v.
HARDY BOYZ v.
EDGE & CHRISTIAN
The
Dudleys walked into this match the champions, but after numerous Dudley run-ins,
Vince McMahon booked the Triangle Ladder Match for the titles. To win,
a member of any team had to climb up a ladder to pull off the title belts,
which were suspended above the ring. Tables also played a factor in
this match, and all three teams gave it their all in one of the most memorable
matches of Wrestlemania. Edge & Christian finally threw Matt
off a table balanced on two ladders through another table below and grabbed
the belts to become the new Tag Team Champions!
(Winners, and new WWF Tag
Team Champions: Edge & Christian)
- Cat
Fight, with Special Referee VAL VENIS: TERRI
(w/
FABULOUS
MOOLAH)
v.
THE KAT (w/
MAE YOUNG)
Kat
threw Terri out twice, but Venis was distracted both times, and Moolah and
Terri managed to get the win.
(Winner: Terri)
- CHYNA
& TOO COOL v. R4DICALZ
Going
into the match, Eddie Guerrero was trying to avoid Chyna, whom he'd ired once
too often. Too Cool was left to battle Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko
themselves, but Chyna got the win after hitting Guerrero with a powerbomb,
sleeper hold, and reverse-neckbreaker.
(Winners: Chyna & Too Cool via
reverse-neckbreaker)
- Two-Falls
Match, Intercontinental Championship & European Championship: CHRIS
BENOIT v.
CHRIS
JERICHO v.
KURT ANGLE (double
champion)
The stipulations of this
match stated that the first fall would go to the IC title and the second would
go to the European title. The Triple Threat rules also meant that Angle
could lose both of his titles without being pinned, which is exactly what
happened.
Benoit would hit
his swandive headbutt on Jericho for the first pin and the IC win, but Jericho
would take advantage of a missed swandive headbutt on Angle to hit Benoit
with a Lionsault for the European win!
(Winner, and new WWF Intercontinental
Champion: Chris Benoit, via Swandive Headbutt)
(Winner, and new WWF European Champion: Chris Jericho, via Lionsault)
- KANE
& RIKISHI PHATU
v. D-GENERATION X (w/
TORI)
Going
into this match, Kane still desired revenge on X-Pac for his betrayal and
Rikishi was added to even out the odds. Kane would get his revenge when
he hit X-Pac with a Tombstone. After the match, TOO
COOL came to the ring to celebrate with Rikishi, but the FAMOUS
CHICKEN accompanied them. Kane was suspicious, since at previous
Wrestlemanias, he'd been attacked by PETE
ROSE, who had once dressed up as the Famous Chicken. Well,
it wasn't Rose in the costume, but that didn't stop Kane. Rose would
attack from behind, but Too Cool & Rikishi would help Kane knock him down,
and then set Rose up for a Stink Face!
(Winners: Kane & Rikishi Phatu
via Tombstone)
- Fatal
Four-Way Elimination WWF Championship: THE ROCK
v.
BIG SHOW v.
MICK FOLEY v.
TRIPLE H (champion)
Going
into the match, each contestant was backed up by a member of the McMahon family.
(Triple H with STEPHANIE,
Big Show with SHANE,
The Rock with VINCE,
and Mick Foley with LINDA.)
Linda McMahon, WWF CEO, had included Foley in the match, stating that the
King of Hardcore deserved a title shot in Wrestlemania.
Big Show would be
the first eliminated, after a chair shot from Foley and a Rock Bottom from
The Rock. Foley would be next eliminated, after a chair shot from Triple
H, then two Pedigrees, the second being done on the chair. Before leaving,
however, Foley came back to the ring, clobbered Triple H with his barbed wire
2x4, then left the ring as an active wrestler forever. Vince would get
involved on The Rock's behalf, working Triple H over with punches, but Shane
would attack his father from behind and bust him open. PAT
PATTERSON and GERRY
BRISCO dragged Vince backstage, leaving The Rock to be double-teamed
by Shane and Triple H. The Rock would knock out Shane, then hit Triple
H with a Rock Bottom, but was too exhausted to make the pin. Vince returned,
took away Shane's chair and wound up to hit Triple H, but he turned and hit
The Rock instead! The Rock kicked out of the pin, and a surprised Vince
hit him again. This time Triple H got the victory, and Vince, Shane,
Stephanie, and Triple H embraced in the middle of the ring. An irate
Rock got back up, Rock Bottomed both Shane and Vince, then got slapped by
Stephanie. Incensed, The Rock Rock Bottomed her, then gave her a People's
Elbow for good measure. Still, this doesn't change the fact that for
the first time anyone can remember, a heel walked out of Wrestlemania as
WWF Champion.
(Winner, and still WWF Champion:
Triple H via Vince's chair-shot)
April
2000: Backlash,
Washington, D.C.
- Tag
Team Championship: D-GENERATION X (w/
TORI)
v.
EDGE & CHRISTIAN (champions)
DEBRA would
come to ringside in her WWF return as a guest ring announcer.
Tori tried to interfere on DX's behalf, but Edge would duck her grab and send
X-Pac flying into her. Road Dogg saved Tori from a Christian neckbreaker
on the outside, but Christian tossed the ring bell into the ring, where he
hit X-Pac with the bell to bust him open and get the win, retaining their
Tag Team titles.
(Winners, and still WWF Tag
Team Champions: Edge & Christian via ring bell-shot)
- Light-Heavyweight
Championship: SCOTTY 2 HOTTY v.
DEAN MALENKO (champion)
Malenko defended his title
against Scotty by taking it to his injured leg, but Scotty battled back and
set Malenko up for a superplex. In mid-air, however, Malenko countered
and reversed it into a high-impact DDT. This got Malenko the pin.
(Winner, and still WWF Light-Heavyweight
Champion: Dean Malenko via DDT)
- BIG
BOSSMAN & BULL BUCHANAN v.
ACOLYTES
The
two brawling teams took it to each other in a very physical match-up, but
Bossman would clobber both Faarooq and Bradshaw with his nightstick, allowing
Buchanan to hit a top-rope scissors kick on Bradshaw for the win.
(Winners: Big Bossman & Bull
Buchanan via scissors kick)
- Hardcore
Championship: HARDY BOYZ v.
TAZZ
v. PERRY
SATURN v.
HARDCORE
HOLLY v.
CRASH
HOLLY (champion)
The
match stipulated that it ended when Crash was pinned or when Crash pinned
someone else. Because of this stipulation, Crash had the proverbial
bull's eye painted on him.
Crash took a beating, but someone would always interrupt the 3-count.
Tazz locked Crash in the Tazzmission, but Perry Saturn clobbered him with
a street sign. Immediately thereafter, the Hardys knocked down Hardcore
Holly and Saturn with a top-rope splash. Crash somehow dragged himself
over to the unconscious Tazz and scored the pin to retain his title yet again.
(Winner, and still WWF Hardcore
Champion: Crash Holly via pin)
- BIG
SHOW v.
KURT ANGLE
Big
Show, who following the success of his guest comedy on Saturday Night Live
and his failed title shot, decided to become "entertaining" and began coming
to the ring dressed as other wrestlers and/or movie characters (including
The Godfather (as "The Big Pimp", not a mob boss), "Showkisihi",
Fat Bastard from Austin Powers, and "Shonan the Barbarian").
This time, Big Show came out dressed like Hulk Hogan, and even cut a promo
like Hogan. Angle kicked out of a boot to the face and a leg drop, but
Big Show roared back with a chokeslam for the win.
(Winner: Big Show via chokeslam)
- T&A
(w/
TRISH STRATUS) v. DUDLEY
BOYZ
Going
into this match, Trish had been taunting Bubba Ray with tables and even escaped
his clutches by caressing his head and even kissing him, but Bubba refused
to be distracted in this match. Still, her obvious feminine wiles distracted
Bubba enough for Test to clothesline him and pin him after a failed 3D.
After the match, however, the Dudleys took out T&A and grabbed Trish.
She kissed Bubba again, but he snapped out of it and finally managed to powerbomb
her through a table.
(Winners: T&A via clothesline)
- European
Championship: ESSA RIOS (w/
LITA)
v.
EDDIE
GUERRERO (champion)
(w/ CHYNA)
During
the preceding month, Chyna was finally won over by Eddie's "Latino Heat" and
helped him pin Chris Jericho to get the European title.
Prior to this match, however, Eddie had been at his prom after getting his
green card. As a result, they were late arriving at the arena and Eddie
was forced to fight in tuxedo pants. Eddie still managed to get the
win after a modified airplane spin into a neckbreaker. After the match,
Lita tore off Chyna's evening gown, leaving her in her bra and panties!
(Winner, and still WWF European
Champion: Eddie Guerrero via neckbreaker)
- Intercontinental
Championship: CHRIS
JERICHO v.
CHRIS
BENOIT (champion)
Benoit and Jericho had
gotten into a very heated rivalry over the IC title after Jericho lost his
European title to Eddie Guerrero, and it showed in this match. The referee
was knocked out, which allowed Benoit to grab his belt and clobber Jericho
with it. The ref came to, but Jericho kicked out. Benoit went
for the swandive headbutt, but Jericho nailed him with the title belt in mid-air,
disqualifying him.
(Winner, and still WWF Intercontinental
Champion: Chris Benoit via DQ)
- WWF
Championship, with Special Referee SHANE McMAHON:
THE ROCK v.
TRIPLE H (champion)
During
the preceding month, referee EARL
HEBNER, who had officiated a match between Triple H and Chris Jericho,
had been fired by Triple H. STONE
COLD STEVE AUSTIN, who had been put in The Rock's corner to even
the odds against the McMAHON-HELMSLEY
FACTION, was still nowhere to be found in this match.
The Rock had Triple H pinned at one point, but Shane refused to do the count.
As a result, The Rock knocked him out of the ring. The match continued
outside the ring, where Triple H set The Rock up for a Pedigree through the
Spanish announce table, but The Rock countered with a low blow. Shane
tried to stop The Rock from doing the Rock Bottom, but The Rock pulled Shane
behind Triple H and Rock Bottomed them both through the table.
Vince interfered on Triple H's behalf, which allowed the champion to hit the
Pedigree in the ring, and Vince called the stooges out in referee shirts.
The Rock kicked out, which earned him a stomping and a chair shot from Vince,
but then Stone Cold arrived, steel chair in hand, and knocked out the entire
faction. LINDA McMAHON
appeared as Austin retreated, and brought out a reinstated Earl Hebner.
Stephanie tried to stop them, but Linda shoved her to the floor. Triple
H fell prey to a spinebuster and a People's Elbow, and then Hebner counted
the pinfall, and The Rock, as sure as he'd promised, was again the WWF Champion!
After the match, Stone Cold drove out in his truck, towing the wreck of the
DX Express bus (which he'd destroyed on the preceding Smackdown!),
then shared a beer with The Rock.
(Winner, and new WWF Champion:
The Rock, via the People's Elbow)
May
2000:
Judgment Day,
Louisville, Kentucky
- Rikishi
& Too Cool v. Edge & Christian & Kurt Angle -
Since earning the Tag Team titles, Edge & Christian had become big-headed
and arrogant, often giving the fans a "five-second" pose which usually mocked
the town they were in at the time. Kurt Angle, recognizing champions
when he saw them, befriended the Canadians and often participated in the poses.
This time around, the pose was "The Jug Band," which mocked Louisville, which
the trio claimed was full of slack-jawed yokels. The dancing trio of
Rikishi and Too Cool, however, got the win after Grandmaster Sexay hit the
Hip Hop Drop on Edge. After the match, the winners danced to the delight
of the crowd! (Winners: Too Cool & Rikishi via
Hip Hop Drop)
- Triple
Threat European Championship: Perry Saturn v. Dean Malenko v. Eddie Guerrero
(champion) (w/ Chyna) - Chyna was a key factor in
this match, as she brought a "loaded" bouquet of roses to the ring.
(It had a lead pipe inside.) She clobbered Saturn with it and started
to do the same to Malenko, but he got the roses away from her. Chyna,
however, hit a drop toe hold on the bouquet, which let Eddie roll him up for
a pin and the win! (Winner, and still WWF
European Champion: Eddie Guerrero via Chyna droptoe hold to lead pipe)
-
No
Holds Barred, Falls Count Anywhere: Shane McMahon v. Big Show -
When Shane told Big Show that he was embarassed by Show's "entertaining"
antics, the furious Big Show stalked him. That led to this match.
Due to the nature of the stipulations, Shane got help from several sources,
including Big Bossman and
Bull
Buchanan and
Trish
Stratus and
T&A.
Big Show took out Bossman with a powerbomb and threw Trish out of the ring
with T&A. Big Show chased Shane into the production area, where
Buchanan attacked from behind and pinned the Big Show's leg under a giant
speaker. Shane clobbered Big Show with a cinder block, then pinned
him to get the victory. After the match, Big Show was taken to a
hospital. (Winner: Shane McMahon via cinder block-shot)
- Submission
Match, Intercontinental Championship: Chris Jericho v. Chris Benoit (champion)
- Benoit was injured going into the match, since
Hardcore Holly had worked over his knee with a steel chair on Smackdown!
Jericho went after his leg, but Benoit battled back and locked Jericho in
the Crippler Crossface. Jericho went for the ropes, but Benoit pulled
him back and locked the move on again. Jericho refused to tap out, but
finally lost consciousness, which meant Benoit won the match and retained
his title. (Winner, and still WWF Intercontinental
Champion: Chris Benoit via Crippler Crossface)
-
Tag
Team Table Match: D-Generation X (w/ Tori) v. Dudley Boyz -
Bubba Ray Dudley was fixated on Tori, who had driven him through a table
on RAW is WAR. Road Dogg put D-Von Dudley through a table
with a pumphandle slam, but Bubba evened the score when he powerbombed
X-Pac through a table. Road Dogg was also "tableized" but the referee
was out and didn't see it. Hardcore Champion Gerry
Brisco came to ringside as Tori got in Bubba's face.
He prepared to powerbomb her through a table, but Brisco saved her by low-blowing
Bubba. Brisco revived the referee in time to see X-Pac give Bubba
a top-rope X-Factor through a table. DX got the win. The Dudleys,
however, got some measure of revenge when they 3D'd Brisco through a table
after the match. (Winners: D-Generation X via
X-Factor through table)
- Iron
Man Match, WWF Championship, with Special Referee Shawn Michaels: Triple H
v. The Rock (champion) - The stipulation of the match
stated that whoever had the most "pinfalls" (which were pins, submissions,
or DQs) at the end of the hour would be the champion. Michaels, true
to his word, called the match right down the middle. Triple H told the
rest of the Faction to stay backstage, saying he wanted to win this one himself.
The Rock scored the first pinfall with a Rock Bottom, but Triple H roared
back with three pinfalls, with a Pedigree, inside cradle, and piledriver (in
succession). The Rock came back with a DDT, and the score was tied up
when Triple H gave himself a DQ by hitting The Rock with a steel chair.
He pinned The Rock to get the score to 4-3, then locked The Rock in a sleeper
hold. The Rock tried to free himself, but Triple H locked it in again.
Michaels called that a submission, saying The Rock was unconscious, and the
score went to 5-3. Ten minutes left. Outside the ring, Triple
H set The Rock up for a Rock Bottom through the announce table, but The Rock
battled out and gave Triple H a Pedigree, then returned to the ring.
Triple H was counted out, and the score went to 5-4. The Faction came
to ringside, but in the ring Triple H fell prey to a spinebuster and People's
Elbow for a tie score. Michaels was knocked out of the ring, which allowed
the Faction to team up on The Rock. At this point, the TitanTron was
taken over by the mysterious videos which had been playing over the course
of the past month, featuring three ghostly girls who prophecized that "his
Judgment Day is coming." Well, "his" Judgment Day was now,
and "he" turned out to be the
Undertaker! The Undertaker came to the ring on a motorcycle,
chokeslammed everyone in sight, then set Triple H up for the Tombstone.
A recovered Shawn Michaels pleaded with him not to do it, but the Undertaker
ignored him and did it anyway. Michaels awarded The Rock a DQ, making
the score 6-5 in favor of Triple H. The Undertaker chased Michaels backstage
as the event ended. (Winner, and new WWF
Champion: Triple H)

King of the Ring Quarterfinals:
- Rikishi
v. Chris Benoit - The two had already feuded on
Smackdown!, where Rikishi won Benoit's Intercontinental title.
Benoit went after Rikishi's sore shoulder and applied the Crippler Crossface,
but Rikishi was too close to the ropes and grabbed one. Furious, Benoit
grabbed a steel chair and hit Rikishi with it, disqualifying himself and
advancing Rikishi. He continued to attack the 400-pound Samoan with
the steel chair, finally hit him with the swandive headbutt and then applied
the Crippler Crossface again. (Winner: Rikishi
via DQ)
- Val Venis
(w/ Trish Stratus) v. Eddie Guerrero (w/ Chyna) -
Both men's partners interfered liberally, but Venis won after hitting Eddie
with a fisherman's suplex pin for the win. Venis advanced to face
Rikishi in the semifinals. (Winner: Val Venis
via fisherman's suplex)
-
Crash
v. Bull Buchanan
- The little man, despite claiming
to be 6'6" and well over 400 pounds, was at a clear disadvantage against
the sheer size, strength, and speed of Buchanan. Buchanan missed
a scissors kick, however, and Crash tied him up in a pinning situation
to advance. (Winner: Crash via pin)
-
Kurt
Angle v. Chris Jericho
- Jericho appeared to have
the match won when he locked Angle in the Walls of Jericho, but Stephanie
McMahon-Helmsley ran down to the ring and distracted
the referee. Jericho released Angle and grabbed Stephanie, then got
hit from behind by Angle, who also inadvertantly knocked out the referee.
Stephanie tried to use her Women's title belt against Jericho, but he ducked
and she hit Angle instead! Jericho grabbed Stephanie again and then
kissed her! Angle got back up and gave Jericho the Olympic Slam for
the victory. Angle advanced to face Crash in the semifinals. (Winner:
Kurt Angle via Olympic Slam)
- Eight-Man
Tag Elimination, Tag Team Championship: Hardy Boyz v. Too Cool v. T&A
(w/ Trish Stratus) v. Edge & Christian (champions) -
T&A was eliminated first when the Hardys hit them with a Swanton Bomb,
but Edge & Christian eliminated them with a behind-the-back DDT.
Scotty 2 Hotty was escorted from the ring by the referee, and Grandmaster
Sexay was clobbered with one of the belts by Christian after hitting a Hip
Hop Drop on Edge. Edge got the pin and the Canadian duo retained their
titles! (Winners, and still WWF Tag Team
Champions: Edge & Christian)
-
King of the Ring Semifinals:
- Rikishi
v. Val Venis (w/ Trish Stratus) - These two had
also been involved in a heated rivalry before the event, and took it to
each other in this match. Rikishi caught Venis as he came off the
top rope and gave him a belly-to-belly suplex to get the win. After
the match, Trish jumped on Rikishi, who threw her off and set her up for
the Banzai Drop. Venis came back, low-blowed Rikishi, then clobbered
him with the steel stairs and a steel chair. (Winner:
Rikishi via belly-to-belly suplex)
-
Kurt
Angle v. Crash
- Crash again tried to take advantage
of his speed, but Angle caught him with an Olympic Slam and got the win,
advancing to face Rikishi in the finals. (Winner:
Kurt Angle via Olympic Slam)
- Hardcore
Evening Gown Match, Hardcore Championship: Gerry Brisco v. Pat Patterson (champion)
- By far one of the more bizarre matches, the stipulation
was the title would go to the man who stripped the evening gown off of his
opponent first. Partway through Brisco and Patterson's match, however,
Crash came down to the ring with another referee, clobbered Patterson with
a garbage can and pinned him to get the Hardcore title. He then headed
for the hills before Brisco or Patterson could get back up. (Winner:
Pat Patterson via DQ, and new WWF Hardcore Champion: Crash)
-
Handicap
Table/Dumpster Match: D-Generation X & Tori v. Dudley Boyz -
The stipulations of this match were that DX would win if they could get
both Dudleys in a Dumpster and close the lids, and the Dudleys would win
if they could put all three DX-ers through a table. DX appeared to
have the win when the Dudleys were thrown in the Dumpster, but Tori had
been hurt and the referee was checking on her. The Dudleys escaped
and put Road Dogg through two tables stacked on top of each other, then
suplexed X-Pac through another. Bubba chased Tori, who sought refuge
in the Dumpster. Foolishly, the Dudleys followed her inside.
She escaped and DX quickly clobbered them with chairs and shut the lids
to get the win. After the match, the Dudleys escaped, took out X-Pac
and Road Dogg with 3Ds, and then Bubba finally managed to put Tori through
a table. (Winners: D-Generation X and Tori)
- King
of the Ring Finals: Kurt Angle v. Rikishi - Angle
took advantage of Rikishi's injured arm and attacked this, but still Rikishi
refused to be defeated, even kicking out of an Olympic Slam. Angle also
refused to go down, kicking out of the Banzai Drop. Angle won after
hitting a belly-to-belly suplex off the top rope and scored the pin. (Winner,
and the new King of the Ring: Kurt Angle via top-rope belly-to-belly
suplex)
- Six-Man
Tag, WWF Championship: The Rock, the Undertaker, & Kane v. Triple H (champion),
Vince McMahon, & Shane McMahon - The stipulation
of the match stated that if any member of The Rock's team pinned any member
of Triple H's team, that person would get the WWF title. Because of
this, The Rock, the Undertaker, and Kane couldn't agree on who would get the
pin. Kane chokeslammed The Rock in the midst of the People's Elbow on
Triple H, and then Kane gave Triple H the Tombstone! The Undertaker
prevented Kane from pinning Triple H. Later, Shane went for a diving
elbow off the top rope, but the Undertaker caught him by the throat before
he could. Taker then leapt off the ring apron and chokeslammed Shane
through the announce table! With Triple H battling Taker, Vince went
for the "Owner's Elbow" on a still-down Rock, but The Rock leapt up and hit
Vince with a Rock Bottom and pinned him to get the win and the WWF Title!
Triple H was furious. (Winners: The Rock, the Undertaker,
and Kane via Rock Bottom, and the new WWF Champion: The Rock)

Six-Person Tag: Hardy Boyz & Lita v. Trish Stratus & T&A -
Trish avoided getting in the ring with Lita at all costs and let the brute
force of Test and Albert go up against the preternatural quickness and
athleticism of the Hardys and Lita. Lita ended up in the ring, where
she hit Test with a Tornado DDT off the ropes, a splash from the top on
Albert on the outside, and then a huracanrana on Test. Test floored
Lita with a powerslam, then tagged in Trish. Trish beat down on Lita,
who recovered and superplexed Trish off the rope. Albert saved Trish,
and T&A battled back, but the Hardys took it out of the ring.
Lita finished off Trish with a top-rope moonsault, pinned her, but then
got a beating from a leather strap-weilding Trish as the Hardys were destroyed
by T&A. (Winners: Hardys & Lita via moonsault)
-
Tazz
v. Al Snow
- Tazz returned from a biceps injury
earlier in the month and began a series of inexplicable run-in attacks.
Refusing to speak until someone beat an answer out of him, Tazz was challenged
by Al Snow, who seemed as focused as ever going into this match.
He seemed to have it won with a top-rope leg drop and a top-rope moonsault,
but Tazz battled back. Snow went for Head, but Tazz blocked and locked
in the Tazzmission. Unable to break the hold, Al Snow tapped out.
(Winner:
Tazz via Tazzmission)
- European
Championship: Perry Saturn (w/ Terri) v. Eddie Guerrero (champion) (w/ Chyna)
- Chyna interfered liberally,
attacking Saturn, but Terri distracted Chyna, who chased her. Finally
Terri retreated to the back. During the match, Chyna attacked Saturn
every time he was knocked out of the ring. Soon, Eddie hit a springboard
dropkick on Saturn, sending both men out of the ring. Terri returned
and low-blowed Eddie, allowing Saturn to hurl him into the ringpost, throw
him into the ring, then hit a diving elbow for the win. (Winner,
and new WWF European Champion: Perry Saturn via diving elbow)
- Tag
Team Championship: Acolytes v. Edge & Christian (champions) -
Edge & Christian prepared for their Dallas-bashing five-second pose, but
Bradshaw, a native Texan, interrupted. The Acolytes took it to the Canadian
duo, and Faarooq appeared to have a pin after a Dominator on Christian, but
Edge clobbered him with one of the title belts in front of the ref, disqualifying
the champions. The Acolytes won, but since the titles can't change hands
on a DQ, they didn't get the belts. Irate, they beat Edge & Christian
all the way back to the locker room. (Winners: Acolytes
via DQ, and still WWF Tag Team Champions: Edge & Christian)
- Steel
Cage Intercontinental Championship: Val Venis (w/ Trish Stratus) v. Rikishi
(champion) - Rikishi dominated early on, but Venis
refused to quit. He low-blowed out of a Stink Face, but got a Samoan
drop, Bass-Ackwards Splash and a Banzai Drop for his trouble. Venis
got his foot on the ropes, avoiding a pin. With Venis down, Rikishi
attempted to exit the cage, but Trish slammed the door on his head.
Lita came out and chased Trish back to the locker room. Venis and Rikishi
attempted to climb out of the cage, but Rikishi drove Venis' head into the
cage and made it to the top. There, Rikishi contemplated the prone Venis,
then gave him a Snuka Splash off the top. Rikishi crawled to the door,
but Tazz appeared and clobbered Rikishi with a camera, much as he had weeks
earlier. Venis draped an arm over him to get the pin and win the title.
(Winner, and new WWF Intercontinental Champion:
Val Venis via Tazz camera-shot)
-
The
Undertaker v. Kurt Angle
- The feud between these
two started when Angle interfered in a Tag Team Title match between Taker
& Kane and Edge & Christian, and escalated as Angle continued to
get on Taker's bad side by soiling his bike, hitting him with a sledgehammer,
and finally by pouring a corrisive liquid on Taker's bike. In the
match, Taker dominated Angle, who couldn't take advantage of Taker's injured
knee. He chokeslammed Angle, then gave him a Last Ride powerbomb
to pin him for the win. (Winner: The Undertaker
via Last Ride)
-
Last
Man Standing Match: Triple H (w/ Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) v. Chris Jericho
-
The feud between the two started with Jericho's repeated offenses against
Stephanie (from the kiss to spitting water in her face to calling her a
"filthy, dirty, disgusting, skanky, brutal, bottom-feeding trashbag ho").
Jericho had been severely beaten by Triple H prior to the match, and his
ribs were heavily taped. The match would continue until one man could
not get up from a ten-count. The match was one of the most brutal
seen, with both men bleeding early on, and Triple H ripping the tape off
Jericho's ribs and applying the abdominal stretch for several minutes.
They battled in and out of the ring, hit each other with steel chairs and
monitors. At one point, Jericho reversed a Pedigree into the Walls
of Jericho, then got attacked by Stephanie, who got put in the Walls of
Jericho for her trouble. Triple H knocked down Jericho, then got
a sledgehammer from under the ring. Jericho took control of it, hit
Triple H in the ribs, then battled outside of the ring. He went for
a Lionsault off the timekeeper's table, but Triple H reversed it into a
back bodydrop through the Spanish announce table. Both men were down,
but Triple H got up one second before the ten-count ended. Jericho
was still out, so Triple H was declared the victor. (Winner:
Triple H via back bodydrop through table)
- WWF
Championship: Chris Benoit (w/ Shane McMahon) v. The Rock (champion) -
The stipulation of the match stated that the title could change hands on a
disqualification. Benoit, however, wanted to make The Rock tap out,
so he kept going after The Rock with the Crippler Crossface. The Rock
battled out, and tried to put Benoit in the Crossface instead! Benoit
escaped the ring, allowing Shane to attack The Rock while the ref's back was
turned. Later, Shane distracted the ref while Benoit hit The Rock with
the title belt, but he kicked out, then got to the ropes when Benoit applied
the Sharpshooter. The Rock spilled out of the ring when Shane pulled
the top rope down during a whip, but he picked up Benoit and drove him groin-first
into the steel ringpost. Back in the ring, The Rock locked on the figure-four
leglock, while the referee kept Shane out of the ring. Later, with The
Rock down, Benoit delivered a swandive headbutt, but injured himself and couldn't
make the cover. The Rock and Benoit got up, exchanged blows, and then
Benoit got a spinebuster and a People's Elbow. Shane interfered enough
to let Benoit kick out, then hit a superplex on The Rock, but he kicked out.
Benoit grabbed a steel chair, but the ref took it away. From behind,
Shane took up another chair and knocked out the referee. Irate, The
Rock took the chair and chased Shane out of the ring. The referee came
to, saw The Rock with the chair in hand and assumed he'd hit him. He
disqualified The Rock and awarded the title to Benoit, but before he could
leave, Commissioner Mick Foley
came out, took the title away, and ordered the match to
continue. Benoit went for the Crossface, but The Rock battled out, hit
the Rock Bottom and scored the pin! (Winner, and
still WWF Champion: The Rock)

Tag: Right to Censor (Steven Richards, Bull Buchanan, & the Goodfather)
v. Rikishi & Too Cool
- Steven Richards was
practically booed out of the ring when he came out with his cohorts, and
the self-appointed censor refused to get involved in the match-up.
The action spilled outside when Rikishi took the Goodfather out of the
ring, leaving Scotty 2 Hotty to go for the Worm on Bull Buchanan.
Richards, however, fought off Grandmaster Sexay and hit Scotty with a Censorkick
to get the pin. (Winners: Right to Censor via
Censorkick)
-
X-Pac
v. Road Dogg
- The two DX-ers had been in a "friendly
rivalry" to determine which was the better singles competitor, but the
rivalry turned ugly as each wanted to score the final blow in tag matches.
The match was scientific, since they intended to prove which was better
with this very match. Road Dogg went for a pumphandle slam, but X-Pac
hit a low-blow and an X-Factor for the win. After the match, X-Pac
declared the rivalry over and went for a handshake with Road Dogg, who
attacked and hit the pumphandle slam before leaving. (Winner:
X-Pac via X-Factor)
- Intergender
Tag, Intercontinental Championship: Chyna & Eddie Guerrero v. Trish Stratus
& Val Venis (champion) - The stipulation was
that if either Chyna or Eddie pinned either Trish or Venis, that person would
win the title. Trish, true to form, avoided action, except for kicking
Eddie when he was down, but when Eddie battled with Venis outside the ring,
it left her alone with Chyna. Chyna wasn't impressed with Trish's weak
clothesline off the ropes, and military pressed her, then pinned her to win
the IC title. Val Venis was furious. (Winners:
Chyna & Eddie Guerrero via military press, and new WWF Intercontinental
Champion: Chyna)
-
Jerry
"the King" Lawler v. Tazz
- Tazz had gotten involved
with Lawler when Tazz took exception to some of Jim
"J.R." Ross' comments about him. Lawler defended
J.R. by attacking Tazz, who started going after him, even going so far
as to kidnap J.R. and punk out his car with graffiti and shattering his
window, sending glass into J.R.'s eye. Prior to the match, Tazz came
to the ring wearing a black Resistol hat and carrying a walking stick --
mocking J.R. During the match, Tazz kept taunting J.R. from the ring,
as a result getting pounded by Lawler. The King scored his patented
piledriver on Tazz, but the Brooklyn Bad Ass got back up. He knocked
out Lawler and the ref, then got in J.R.'s face. He locked Lawler
in the Tazzmission, but J.R. broke a glass candy jar over Tazz's head,
allowing Lawler to get the pin. (Winner: Jerry
"the King" Lawler via J.R. jar-shot)
- Hardcore
Championship: Steve Blackman v. Shane McMahon (champion) -
Blackman had scored the title weeks earlier when he defeated Crash to get
the title, but a week earlier Shane had been booked in a match against Blackman.
Shane responded by siccing T&A on Blackman, softening him up for Shane,
who claimed the title. Shane obviously didn't want to get involved with
Blackman in this match, but Blackman creamed him with nunchucks and a noose.
T&A came out to help Shane, but Blackman battled back, grabbing a kendo
stick and hitting Test and Albert. He chased Shane up the scaffolding
of the Titantron, then clobbered him with the kendo stick. Shane took
an insane fall almost fifty feet to the floor below. Blackman followed
up with an equally insane leg drop. Blackman made the cover as people
wondered what Shane's condition was. (Winner, and
new WWF Hardcore Champion: Steve Blackman)
-
2-out-of-3
Falls Match: Chris Benoit v. Chris Jericho - Benoit
got the first fall when he locked Jericho in the Crippler Crossface, then
went for it again, but Jericho battled back. Benoit paralyzed Jericho's
left arm with a fury of attacks, then got locked in the Walls of Jericho
for his trouble. Jericho got a fall. The two battled back and
forth with the score tied, and then Benoit hit an overhead full-nelson
suplex, which Jericho kicked out of. Jericho hit Benoit with a top-rope
huracanrana, then a Lionsault, but he'd injured his arm too badly and couldn't
make the cover. Benoit rolled him up and illegally held the rope
to win the third fall and the match. (Winner:
Chris Benoit via illegal pin)
- TLC
(Tables and Ladders and Chairs -- Oh My!) Match, Tag Team Championship: Hardy
Boyz v. Dudley Boyz v. Edge & Christian (champions) -
Take the intensity of the Ladder Match of No Mercy 1999, the brutality
of the Table Match of Royal Rumble 2000, the sheer audacity of the
Triangle Ladder Match of Wrestlemania 2000, and add steel chairs to
the mix. You'll get the general idea of the TLC Match. A variety
of insane and intense moves was pulled off, including a top-rope leapfrog
legdrop over a ladder by Jeff on Christian, a missed Swanton Bomb by Jeff
on Bubba Ray (which resulted in Jeff crashing through two tables), a fall
by Bubba off a ladder and through four tables (stacked two on two) outside
the ring, and a fall by Matt off a ladder and through two tables. D-Von
and Jeff climbed for the title belts suspended over the ring, but the ladders
were knocked out from under them. Jeff kicked D-Von until he fell, and
then got smacked by a ladder from Edge & Christian. With the other
two teams out, Edge & Christian climbed the ladders and retained their
titles. (Winners, and still WWF Tag Team
Champions: Edge & Christian)
-
Stink
Face Match: The Kat (w/ Al Snow) v. Terri (w/ Perry Saturn) -
The stipulation of this match was that whoever could do Rikishi's move
to the other would win. The two rolled around wearing very little
(see Jerry Lawler have a heart attack with glee), before Terri went for
the Stink Face on Kat. Kat kicked her off, knocking out the ref,
and took Head from Al Snow and floored Terri with it. She trapped
Terri in the corner and delivered the Stink Face to get the win. (Winner:
The Kat)
-
The
Undertaker vs. Kane - Kane abruptly turned on
his brother during RAW is WAR, chokeslamming him twice, once through
the ring! Claiming he'd accepted what he'd always been ("a monster!"),
he attacked his brother repeatedly. The two brothers attacked each
other before the match could even start, as Taker went to remove Kane's
mask. He busted Kane wide open, then finally tore the mask off, making
Kane cover his face as he retreated to the back. Taker held the mask
up like a trophy. (No contest)
- Triple
Threat WWF Championship: Kurt Angle v. Triple H v. The Rock (champion) -
The stipulations of the match also stated that it was a no-disqualification,
no-count out match. Angle, who had kissed Stephanie
McMahon-Helmsley on Smackdown!, and Triple H battled
back and forth before The Rock even came to the ring! Triple H even
Pedigreed Angle through the Spanish announce table before The Rock showed
up. (The move was botched and gave Angle a concussion.) As EMTs
came to take Angle away, The Rock appeared and battled Triple H, who pushed
away The Rock and went after Angle. Finally The Rock got Triple H to
fight him, allowing the EMTs to carry off Angle. Backstage, Stephanie
checked on Angle, then went out herself to help her husband. He held
The Rock as Stephanie grabbed the WWF title and went to hit The Rock with
it. He ducked and she hit Triple H instead! The Rock pursued Stephanie,
but Triple H got back up and told Stephanie to go back to the locker room.
As The Rock and Triple H battled back and forth, Stephanie urged Angle to
get up and go help Triple H. He did, but when Triple H went for the
Pedigree, Angle threw him out of the ring and into the steel stairs.
Stephanie stood in shock, but recovered enough to throw a sledgehammer into
the ring to Triple H, but Angle grabbed it first. Stephanie entered
the ring, trying to convince him not to hit Triple H, who wound up and aimed
for Angle, who ducked. Inadvertantly, Triple H hit Stephanie instead.
Angle clobbered Triple H with the sledgehammer while he checked on his wife,
then went for the pin. The Rock, however, got up, broke up the pin,
and threw Angle out of the ring. He hit the People's Elbow on Triple
H and got the pin to retain his title. After the match, Angle scooped
up an unconscious Stephanie and carried her away. (Winner,
and still WWF Champion: The Rock)

Eight-Man
Tag: Right to Censor (Steven Richards, Val Venis, Bull Buchanan, &
the Goodfather) v. Acolytes & Dudley Boyz -
True to form, Steven Richards never tagged into the match, but that didn't
stop him from interfering. Val Venis was victim to a 3D, but the
Goodfather broke up the pin. Immediately thereafter, Richards hit
the Censorkick on Bubba Ray Dudley, who was pinned by Val Venis for the
win. After the match, however, the Acolytes and the Dudleys put a
beatdown on Richards, who was finally sent through a table. Censor
that! (Winners: Right to Censor via Censorkick)
-
Leather
Strap Match: Tazz v. Jerry "the King" Lawler -
Tazz had wanted to quit the WWF after further interference by Lawler in
his matches, but Commissioner
Mick Foley convinced him to stick around for a match
with Lawler, provided neither man attacked the other prior to their match.
The stipulation of a Leather Strap match dictated that the winner was the
first to score a pinfall, submission, or to touch all four corners.
Lawler managed to hit three successive piledrivers on Tazz, who wasn't
phased. He dragged Tazz toward the corners, but the referee was eventually
knocked out. At that point, former ECW star Raven
made
his WWF debut, hit Lawler with an Evenflow DDT, and helped Tazz get the
win. Tazz locked Lawler in the Tazzmission and forced him to submit.
(Winner:
Tazz via Tazzmission)

3:16 segment I - Stone
Cold Steve Austin arrived at the arena to begin his investigation
into who ran him down at Survivor Series 1999, and his first encounter
was with hapless interviewer Kevin

and threw Kelly into the wall and dropped some steel rods on him!
- Hardcore
Open Invitational: Crash v. Perry Saturn v. T&A v. Funaki v. Steve Blackman
(champion) - The stipulation was whoever held the
title at the end of the ten-minute time limit would emerge as champion.
Blackman was knocked out by Crash for the first pin, but before Crash could
escape, Saturn pinned him. Before Saturn could leave, however, Blackman
grabbed a kendo stick and clobbered everyone in sight, then pinned Saturn
to reclaim his title. The others ganged up on him, but no one was able
to score the pin before time expired. (Winner, and
still WWF Hardcore Champion: Steve Blackman)

himself. He tried to get on Austin's good side by giving him a gold
medal, but Austin wasn't impressed and took out the Olympian.
-
Chris
Jericho v. X-Pac
- In a rivalry that had heated
up considerably over the past several weeks with numerous run-ins in the
other's matches, X-Pac and Jericho did not like each other.
They were savage in their intensity, and Jericho even hit X-Pac with the
Bronco Buster. Jericho got the win after locking X-Pac in the Walls
of Jericho. After the match, however, X-Pac clobbered him with a
pair of nunchucks. (Winner: Chris Jericho via
Walls of Jericho)
-
Case
3:16 segment III - Austin went into The
Rock's locker room, where the two stared each other down.
They finally shook hands and said they were cool with each other.
The Rock again denied any involvement in Austin's attack, and said he had
no information to help Austin. The pot-stirring messenger Just
Joe tried to talk to Austin, but got his ass kicked for
his trouble.
- Steel
Cage Tag Team Championship: Hardy Boyz v. Edge & Christian (champions)
- The rivalry between these two teams extends back
to the time of the Brood, prior to No Mercy 1999. At one point,
the two teams held each other in mutual respect, but since the Canadians got
their hands on the titles, they instead continued to mock the Hardys and attack
them with steel chairs. In this match, Jeff fell off of the cage early,
leaving Matt alone inside with Edge & Christian. Jeff got the cage
key from the ref, but Edge took it away and stuck it down his pants.
The Canadian duo went for the con-chair-to on Matt, but he ducked and hit
them with a double-clothesline. Jeff threw a ladder into the ring, knocking
Christian off the cage. On top of the cage, Jeff executed a corkscrew
moonsault on Edge. Christian climbed up the ladder, but Lita
ran out and gave him a huracanrana off the top. Edge
started to climb, but the Hardys made it up top and hit Edge with the con-chair-to,
knocking him back in the ring. The Hardys escaped the cage to become
the new Tag Team Champions! (Winners, and new
WWF Tag Team Champions: the Hardy Boyz)
-
Case
3:16 segment IV
- Austin barged into Stephanie
McMahon-Helmsley's locker room. She claimed innocence
-- pointing out that she was backstage at the time of the attack and was
actually one of the first people on the scene. She gave Austin back
the hat he'd lost at Survivor Series 1999, but Austin said you can't
trust anybody in the WWF before leaving.
- Intercontinental
Championship: Rikishi v. Eddie Guerrero (champion) (w/ Chyna) -
Eddie, who had become engaged to Chyna on Smackdown!, tried to sneak
away from this match, but Chyna threw him back in the ring, insisting he fight
like a man. Still, when Rikishi set Eddie up for a Stink Face, Chyna
pulled him away. Later, Rikishi hit the Banzai Drop on Eddie, but Chyna
interfered, getting the disqualification. Irate, Rikishi hit her with
a superkick, then the Banzai Drop. (Winner: Rikishi
via DQ, and still WWF Intercontinental Champion: Eddie Guerrero)
-
Triple
H v. Kurt Angle, with Special Referee Commissioner Mick Foley -
Triple H had had enough with Angle's pursuit of his wife and this match
was to try to put an end to their feud. Foley had sworn earlier in
the night that the match would be called down the middle. It was
also a no-DQ match. Early on, Triple H went for the Pedigree on the
announce table, but Angle reversed it into a belly-to-belly suplex through
the Spanish announce table! Back in the ring, Angle attacked Triple
H's taped ribs, but Triple H kicked out of a superplex. Angle put
on the abdominal stretch for several minutes, then missed a top-rope moonsault.
Triple H took advantage and went for the Pedigree, but one arm was too
badly injured for it. Stephanie
entered
the ring, where Triple H told her to choose between him and Angle.
She considered, then kicked Angle right between the legs. Triple
H hit the Pedigree despite the pain, then got the pin. After the
match, he grabbed Stephanie, who had been checking on Angle, and gave her
a rough kiss. He left the ring, and after a few moments, so did Stephanie.
(Winner:
Triple H via Pedigree)
-
Case
3:16 segment V - Shane
McMahon came out and said he knew who had run down Austin
with a car. He played a tape, several months old, of Steve
Blackman backing his car into Ken
Shamrock, therefore giving Blackman a history of vehicular
assault and the reason to run down Austin. Blackman came out to refute
these claims, but Austin came out then and hit Blackman with a Stone Cold
Stunner. Shane, excited, grabbed a cooler and shared a few beers
with Austin, but then Stone Cold gave him no less than three stunners before
leaving.
- Fatal
Fourway WWF Championship: Chris Benoit v. The Undertaker v. Kane v. The Rock
(champion) - The rules of the match were such that
The Rock need not be pinned or forced to submit to get the win. This
seemed to happen after Benoit hit Taker with a steel chair and pinned him
despite Taker's foot being on the ropes. Benoit was announced champion,
but Foley came out, stripped the title away and ordered the match to continue.
The Rock fell victim to a Last Ride from Taker, then a Crippler Crossface
from Benoit. Kane and Taker battled outside the ring, leaving The Rock
with Benoit. He hit the Rock Bottom on Benoit, scored the pin and retained
his title, much to the fury of Benoit. (Winner,
and still WWF Champion: The Rock via Rock Bottom)

Team Elimination Table Invitational - An unusual
table match, it began with two teams in the ring (Too

team would join when one of the previous teams was eliminated by putting
one of its members through a table. Lo Down lost first, when Scotty
2 Hotty pushed Chaz off the top rope through a table as Grandmaster Sexay
moved out of the way of D'Lo's `Lo Down frog splash. Tazz
& Raven came out next and eliminated Too Cool when
they did a tandem suplex on Scotty through a table. The hosts of
the invitational, the Dudley Boyz, came out next and eliminated Tazz &
Raven with a D-Von leg drop on Tazz through a table. That brought
out the final team, Right
to Censor's Bull
Buchanan and the
Goodfather, who were eliminated twice -- first when Buchanan
got a powerbomb through a table, but the referee was out and didn't see
it. Goodfather clobbered Buh-Buh Ray Dudley with a chair and positioned
him in the broken table, so the ref assumed the Dudleys had lost, but another
ref came out, explained what happened, and the match continued. The
Dudleys got the win with a 3D through a table on the Goodfather. (Winners:
the Dudley Boyz via 3D through table)
-
Six-Person
Tag: Acolytes & Lita vs. Trish Stratus & T&A -
The match never got underway, since the Acolytes were Pearl Harbored by
T&A before they could get to the ring, leaving Lita alone in the middle.
When she went to check on her partners, she was attacked by T&A and
Trish. The Hardys headed
off T&A, allowing Lita to escape with her life intact. (No
contest)
-
Steel
Cage: Chris Jericho v. X-Pac - The middle-card
rivalry was slated to come to an end tonight, as Jericho promised in his
pre-match anti-X-Pac promo. X-Pac managed to survive a top-cage powerbomb
and a top-cage Walls of Jericho, and started to climb out, but he stopped
and posed atop the cage door. Jericho dropkicked the side of the cage,
crotching X-Pac on the door, allowing Jericho to escape through the cage
door. (Winner: Chris Jericho)
-
Right
to Censor (Val Venis & Steven Richards) v. Chyna & Billy Gunn
-
Originally, the match was scheduled to be an Intercontinental Title Match
between Gunn and Eddie Guerrero,
but after Guerrero injured his hamstring on
RAW is WAR, the WWF
set the stage for a confrontation between the
Playboy-burning RTC
and centerfold Chyna and her defender Billy Gunn. In the midst of
the match, the Goodfather
and
Bull
Buchanan came out, distracting Gunn, and allowing Eddie
Guerrero to do a run-in with a loaded bouquet of flowers (lead pipe).
Chyna was clobbered and pinned. (Winners:
Right to Censor via Guerrero lead pipe-shot)
-
No
Holds Barred: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Rikishi -
This match was set up following the startling revelation that it was Rikishi
who was driving the car that hit Austin at Survivor Series 1999.
Austin had been running roughshod over the WWF, Stunnering everyone in
sight, but now has a focus for his rage. Rikishi said he did what
he did for The Rock, claiming that the "island boys" (the Samoans, like
Rikishi and The Rock) had always been held back, and that with Austin out
of the way, The Rock could shine. (The Rock has said he's sickened
by this and that he didn't need Rikishi's help.) An hour into the
PPV, Austin wasn't anywhere in the arena, and Rikishi declared that Austin
was scared and demanded to be named victor by default. Austin drove
into the arena at that point, right up to the ring, where he wailed on
Rikishi, who was unable to overcome eleven months of built-up aggression.
Belts, ropes, steel chairs, and a sledgehammer were all used against the
Phat Man, who was eventually thrown in the bed of Austin's truck.
Austin closed the bed, drove out to the parking lot and threw Rikishi on
the concrete and prepared to run him over. Rikishi was saved when
cops arrived and blocked Austin's truck (but not before Austin wrecked
the cop car), then arrested Austin. Austin was driven off as a bleeding
Rikishi was tended to by EMTs. (No contest)
- European
Championship: "Naked Man" Mideon v. William Regal (champion) -
Regal was disgusted with the prospect of fighting a nude wrestler, so Commissioner
Mick Foley ordered Mideon to wear clothing for this match.
Still, Mideon stripped down, planted a big wet one on Regal's lips, and went
on the offensive. Regal battled back, but instead of applying the Regal
Stretch, he finished Mideon off with a modified neckbreaker. (Winner,
and still WWF European Champion: William Regal via neckbreaker)
- Tag
Team Championship: Los Conquistadors v. Hardy Boyz (champions) -
One of the questions everyone had going into this match was who the Conquistadors
were under the masks. In this match, the Hardys kept going for the masks.
Jeff Hardy hit a Swanton Bomb on one Conquistador during a pinning predicament,
and got thrown out of the ring for his trouble. Matt Hardy hit a Twist
of Fate on Conquistador Uno,
pulled off the mask to find another mask underneath, and then Conquistador
Dos came from
behind and hit a move that looked surprisingly like Christian's Unprettier
finisher. Dos got the cover, and the allegedly Latino tag team got the
win! (Winners, and new WWF Tag Team Champions:
Los Conquistadors via Unprettier)
(Note -- the following RAW, Christian's shoulder was injured and
he was unable to fight in Edge
& Christian's promised title shot against Los
Conquistadors, so Edge went solo. He lost to the team, who hit the
Hardys' moves on him. Those Conquistadors unmasked themselves as
the Hardys, and then
Commissioner
Mick Foley revealed he'd seen "double secret" video
footage that proved Edge & Christian had been wearing the masks at
No
Mercy, and they'd gotten two jobbers to wear the masks for the match.
The Hardys took the masks instead, and "won" their titles "back.")
-
Triple
H v. Chris Benoit
- The feud between these two
was set up after Benoit headbutted Stephanie
McMahon-Helmsley
on RAW is WAR. Triple H
isolated Benoit's left knee, nearly crippling the Crippler, but then he
injured his arm, which Benoit isolated, finishing with a swandive headbutt
to the injured arm. Benoit went for a pin with a belly-to-back suplex
bridge, but was unable to get the three-count. He applied the Crippler
Crossface, but Triple H wouldn't tap out, and he countered by standing
and hitting a Samoan drop. Stephanie -- against her husband's orders
-- came to ringside, slapped Benoit, annd distracted the referee as Triple
H hit a low-blow on Benoit, then the Pedigree for the win. Stephanie
left satisfied. (Winner: Triple H via Pedigree)
- WWF
Championship: Kurt Angle (w/ Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) v. The Rock (champion)
- Angle won the number-one contendership from Triple
H in a match on RAW is WAR, then earned the managerial services of
Stephanie when Triple H refused to let her at ringside during his matches.
The Rock was not impressed with Angle's accomplishments in his first year
in the WWF, and even less impressed with his new manager. Prior to the
match, it was announced as no-disqualification. This allowed Stephanie
to interfere quite liberally while Triple H watched with disgust backstage.
The Rock tied Angle in the Sharpshooter, but Stephanie distracted the ref.
Angry, The Rock chased her off, then bashed Angle's head against the announce
table, took a drink of water and spit it in Angle's face. Stephanie
tossed the title belt in the ring, which Angle clobbered The Rock with, but
he still managed to kick out. Angle fell prey to a suplex and a spinebuster,
but when Stephanie tried to interfere, she got a Rock Bottom. Triple
H ran out, prevented a People's Elbow with a Pedigree, then carried his unconscious
wife backstage. Angle tried to cover The Rock, but he kicked out again.
Rikishi, still
bloody, came to the ring to help The Rock, but inadvertantly hit The Rock
multiple times. Angle gave both Rikishi and The Rock an Olympic Slam,
then covered The Rock to get the win and become the WWF Champion within his
first year in the WWF. (Winner, and new WWF
Champion: Kurt Angle via Olympic Slam)

Steve
Blackman, Crash, and Molly Holly v. T&A & Trish Stratus
-
Crash had become involved against T&A when he was put in charge of
the APA while the injured Acolytes were away. T&A took over the
APA, leading to a series of matches against Crash, until Blackman teamed
up with his fellow hardcore wrestler and Crash's cousin Molly, who he brought
in to fight Trish. In the match, as expected, T&A used their
power to their advantage, but Crash evaded a Test pumphandle slam.
Trish got in the ring, and then Molly, who took it to the former fitness
model until Test intervened. The males brawled outside the ring while
Molly rolled up Trish for the win! (Winners:
Steve Blackman, Crash, and Molly Holly via rollup pin)
-
Survivor
Series: The R4dicalz v. "The One" Billy Gunn, Chyna, Road Dogg, and K-Kwik
-
The R4dicalz had reunited as part of Triple H and Rikishi's vicious plot
against Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, leading to Gunn and Chyna
pursuing them. Road Dogg had teamed up with K-Kwik to form a rapping
tag team in the meantime. Eddie Guerrero eliminated Chyna with a
shot from his Intercontinental title belt, then got hit with a sleeper/slam
by Billy Gunn to be eliminated himself. Benoit eliminated the high-flying
K-Kwik with a belly-to-back suplex, dropping the rapper on his head.
Road Dogg was eliminated by Saturn next, leaving Gunn alone against the
remaining R4dicalz. Dean Malenko got eliminated next by the Fame-Asser,
but then Saturn and Benoit double-teamed Gunn and pinned him for the win.
(Survivors:
Perry Saturn & Chris Benoit)
-
Kane
v. Chris Jericho - At first, this feud appeared
to be over a cup of coffee that Y2J accidentally spilled on Kane, but later
Kane revealed he hated Jericho because the fans loved him and Kane saw
him as one of the "beautiful people" that were always shunning "monsters"
like Kane. Kane wanted to disfigure Jericho's face, and went to do
that in this match. He hit Y2J with several high-impact moves, even
stripping the covering off the turnbuckle and going to slam Jericho's face
on it, but Jericho blocked it and eventually made Kane's face hit the corner
instead. Y2J used his quickness to his advantage, but Kane kept coming
back. Jericho appeared to have the match won after a several-minute
hold in the Walls of Jericho for Kane, then a bulldog, but Kane caught
Jericho in the midst of the Lionsault and chokeslammed him for the win.
(Winner:
Kane via chokeslam)
(Later in the PPV, we would see Jericho exacting revenge with various
weapons backstage on Kane.)
- European
Championship: Hardcore Holly v. William Regal (champion) -
Hardcore Holly, out for months due to a broken arm (suffered as the result
of a botched moonsault by Kurt Angle), returned in force a week prior to the
PPV, and got booked in a title match fairly quickly. During the match,
Regal went after Holly's arm, which pissed Holly off and made him clobber
Regal in the face with the title belt in front of the referee, earning himself
a DQ. Holly continued to pummel the "good will ambassador" after the
match. (Winner, and still WWF European Champion:
William Regal via DQ)
-
The
Rock v. Rikishi - Rikishi's insistence that The
Rock was his accomplice in his war against Stone Cold Steve Austin turned
out to be false when Triple H revealed himself as the mastermind.
The Rock, angered that his "family" would do this to him, got himself a
match against the 424-pound Samoan. Prior to the PPV, however, Rikishi
had injured The Rock's ribs with a sledgehammer, and capitalized on this
during the match. The Rock fought hard, even kicking out of a vertical
splash on his chest. He got the Stink Face from Rikishi, then battled
back to give Rikishi a Rock Bottom. Soon, Rikishi got a Samoan Drop
(which injured The Rock in the process) and a People's Elbow. The
Rock pinned Rikishi, but after the match, the Samoan got back up, superkicked
The Rock and gave him a total of four Banzai Drops before leaving. (Winner:
The Rock via People's Elbow)
- Women's
Championship: Ivory (champion) v. Lita - After losing
her title to Ivory due to Edge & Christian's interference, Lita was booked
in a match for her Women's title by newly-appointed Lt.
Commissioner Debra. During match, Lita was busted
open and bled badly. Right to Censor leader Steven
Richards would run to the ring to help his RTC cohort, even
saving Ivory from a moonsault. Ivory would eventually hit Lita with
the title belt and cover her for the win. (Winner,
and still WWF Women's Champion: Ivory via belt-shot)
- WWF
Championship: The Undertaker v. Kurt Angle (champion) -
Kurt Angle debuted at Survivor Series a year ago, and Undertaker had
debuted Survivor Series ten years ago. Both intended to make
it a "golden" anniversary. Taker would go after Angle and injure his
back, but Angle kept coming back. He locked Taker in the figure-four
leglock, but the Deadman reversed it and put the pressure on Angle instead.
Edge & Christian would
run out to help their friend Angle, but get sent back to the locker room by
the referee. Angle would flee for his life under the ring, but get dragged
out by Taker, who promptly gave him the Last Ride and pinned him. The
referee, however, noticed something about "Kurt Angle" and stopped counting
after two. Taker hadn't pulled out Angle from under the ring, but an
impostor. Meanwhile, the real Angle snuck up from behind, clobbered
Taker and pinned him quickly to retain his title. Afterwards, Angle
grabbed his title, sprinted out of the building, and drove off fast! (Winner,
and still WWF Champion: Kurt Angle via rollup pin)
(Note: the impostor later turned out to be Kurt's brother, Eric
Angle.)
- Survivor
Series: Dudley Boyz & Hardy Boyz v. Edge & Christian & Right to
Censor (Bull Buchanan & the Goodfather) - Fellow
Censor Val Venis aided
Right to Censor and the Canadian duo by tripping Matt Hardy off the top rope,
allowing Edge to pin him. D-Von Dudley was eliminated next by Christian,
but Bubba Ray Dudley fought back and eliminated Buchanan and Christian.
The Goodfather eliminated Bubba Ray next, and Val Venis aided his cohort against
Jeff Hardy, but inadvertantly clotheslined the Goodfather and allowed Jeff
to score the pin to win. After the match, RTC ganged up on Jeff, until
Matt and the Dudleys ran back to the ring to help. The Goodfather got
a 3D and Val got a "Wazzup!" headbutt. Val was legdropped through a
table by Matt Hardy and Steven
Richards went through the wood as the Dudleys got a table
and powerbombed him through it. (Survivor:
Jeff Hardy)
-
Stone
Cold Steve Austin v. Triple H - When Triple H
revealed himself as Rikishi's mysterious accomplice against him, Austin
went to new lengths of rage. This led to the Game and the Rattlesnake
being booked in a no-DQ match, but with "no R4dicalz interference" by Commissioner
Mick Foley's order, but Triple H told them "You know
what to do. Do it." Both men beat down on each other, taking
full advantage of the no-DQ rule. Triple H would be busted open by
a monitor, then clobbered with Austin's beer cooler, then a beer can.
Triple H battled back and went to Pedigree Austin on the steel stairs,
but he fought out of it and backdropped the Game through the announce table.
He threw Triple H back in the ring, where he gave him a Stunner.
Rather than capitalize, however, Austin grabbed a steel chair and put it
around Triple H's neck, intending to break it. Triple H, however,
got away and ran backstage, where the
R4dicalz ignored Foley's order and attacked anyway while
the Game escaped to his car. Benoit ran away from Austin down a hall
and taunted him to follow, but Austin didn't. Triple H sent Benoit
to find Austin while he sat in his car and waited. Austin then drove
up in a forklift and picked up Triple H's car! He pleaded with Austin
to put the car down, so Austin did -- from 30 feet in the air! The
car landed on its top with Triple H inside it as the PPV ended. (No
contest)

Elimination
Match: R4dicalz (w/ Terri) v. Hardy Boyz & Lita -
Going into the match, Lita had completely rejected the amorous Malenko's
advances on the preceding
Smackdown!, leading Commissioner Mick
Foley to book she and the Hardys against Malenko's R4dicalz buddies Eddie
Guerrero and Perry Saturn. Guerrero lasted all of five seconds as
Lita hit a Twist of Fate and Jeff hit a Swanton Bomb. Saturn eliminated
Jeff next by countering the Poetry in Motion into a slam. Matt got
revenge when he hit a Twist of Fate on Saturn and eliminated him.
Terri distracted Lita, allowing Malenko to throw Matt into Lita, knocking
her out of the ring, then roll up Matt to eliminate him. This left
Lita alone in the ring with the man she'd rejected. He had her beat
after a superplex, but desiring revenge, he put her in the Texas Cloverleaf
to get the win. After the match, Lita swore she'd get him back. (Survivor:
Dean Malenko)
- European
Championship: Hardcore Holly v. William Regal (champion) -
Going into the match, Holly's cousin Molly Holly had been put in the painful
Regal Stretch by the champion, so it was personal. Regal came out and
addressed the crowd and said he understood why they would cheer native Alabamian
Holly, but went on and started to lecture them on proper hygiene. Holly
interrupted him and the match began. Regal put Holly in several stretches,
but Holly fired back with a shot from his left arm (which had a metal plate
in it), putting Regal down. While the ref was distracted by checking
on Regal, Raven came
down to the ring, hit an Evenflow DDT on Holly, and allowed Regal to retain
his title. (Winner, and still WWF European
Champion: William Regal via Raven Evenflow DDT)
-
Val
Venis (w/ Ivory) v. Chyna
- On the preceding
RAW
is WAR, Val had knocked Chyna out, so she was seeking revenge.
Ivory interfered liberally in the match. Val had Chyna down at one
point and went for the move formerly known as the Money Shot, but she got
out of the way. Ivory tripped Chyna later, leading Chyna to chase
her around the ring. Back in the ring, Val tied Chyna up with a fisherman's
suplex for the pin. After the match, Chyna tried to powerbomb Ivory,
but Val saved her. (Winner: Val Venis via fisherman's
suplex)

Interview
Segment: The Undertaker - Earlier in the day,
Taker (who had survived three Hell in a Cell matches) addressed
the match he faced tonight, mentioning how scared he was of the lengths
to which he was going to have to go to become WWF Champion again.
He promised to make his opponents bleed, and said that Hell in a Cell was
about doing unto others before they did unto you. He said he liked
the part of him that could cause such hell, and remarked that it was his
previous matches that made Shawn
Michaels and Mick
"Mankind" Foley famous -- then he wondered who he would
make famous tonight.
-
Talking
Segment: Vince McMahon - Accompanied by the stooges,
Vince came to the ring and said he was gravely concerned about the six
men in the Hell in a Cell match. He said his concerns had fallen
on the deaf ears of Mick Foley, so he asked the fans to help him prevent
the Hell in a Cell. (Boos.) He asked the fans to send a message
to Foley, and got more boos. Vince asked anyone who supported him
to please stand up, and was shocked to see he had almost no support from
the fans. Vince told the fans that whatever happened in the Hell
in a Cell was not only on Foley's conscience, but the fans' as well.
-
Last
Man Standing: Chris Jericho v. Kane - Jericho
refused to stay down in this matchup, even after being attacked by Kane
in the entrance and backstage and being chokeslammed. Kane, likewise,
would not stay down, and got hit with a steel chair, DDT'd on it, then
hit with it again. Jericho hit a missile dropkick, a bulldog, and
then hit a Lionsault onto Kane, who had the chair draped across him.
Both men still got to their feet. Y2J was hit with a huge clothesline,
then got military pressed onto the floor. Kane and Jericho battled
up the entranceway, where Jericho reversed a chokeslam into a bulldog onto
a table. A second bulldog broke the table, and then Jericho pushed
over twenty barrels from the Armageddon scaffolding onto Kane, who
was unable to crawl out from them to answer the 10-count -- thus declaring
Jericho the winner! (Winner: Chris Jericho)
- Four-Corners
Tag Team Championship: Edge & Christian v. the Dudley Boyz v. Road Dogg
& K-Kwik v. Right to Censor (Bull Buchanan & the Goodfather) (champions)
- With the Tag Team Title situation such a mess,
Foley booked these four teams in a special Four Corners match for the titles.
The Dudleys dominated the match, nailing 3Ds, Dudley Devices, and Wazzup!
headbutts -- but were unable to capitalize and score a pin. Then, Christian
attacked Bubba Ray from behind, and Edge pinned him, thus making the Canadian
brothers four-time WWF Tag Team Champions! (Winners,
and new WWF Tag Team Champions: Edge & Christian via pin)
- Intercontinental
Championship: Chris Benoit v. "The One" Billy Gunn (champion) -
Benoit targeted Gunn's knees early on with a Figure-Four Leglock, but Gunn
reversed it. Later, Benoit hit three German suplexes on Gunn, but missed
with a swandive headbutt, allowing Gunn to hit a powerslam for a twocount.
Gunn then hit a jackhammer and the Fame-Asser, but his sore knee prevented
him from getting the cover immediately, thus getting him another twocount.
Benoit locked on the Crippler Crossface, but Gunn got to the ropes.
Benoit then locked it in again in the middle of the ring, forcing Gunn to
tap out -- Benoit is now a three-time Intercontinental Champion. (Winner,
and new WWF Intercontinental Champion: Chris Benoit via Crippler Crossface)
- Triple
Threat Women's Championship: Trish Stratus v. Molly Holly v. Ivory (champion)
- Ivory and Trish reluctantly worked together to
tandem suplex Molly, but then turned on each other again. Molly hit
a top-rope bodypress on both of them, then floored Trish as she went for a
huracanrana. Ivory knocked Molly down before she could pin Trish, and
pinned Trish herself to retain. After the match, T&A
came out to intimidate Molly, but Crash
came to the rescue. T&A laughed at him, but they
weren't laughing after the Acolytes
returned to help Crash out. The APA laid out T&A
while the crowd cheered. (Winner, and still
WWF Women's Champion: Ivory via pin)
- Six-Man
Hell in a Cell WWF Championship: The Rock v. Triple H v. Stone Cold Steve
Austin v. The Undertaker v. Rikishi v. Kurt Angle (champion) -
The most dangerous match in the WWF books, all six men held nothing back in
this matchup, in which Foley had stipulated he would resign from WWF Commissioner
if anyone was permanently injured. Austin grabbed Triple H's head and
grated it against the mesh of the cage, then dragged him around the cage,
busting him wider and wider open. Rikishi saved Triple H, but then got
a Pedigree from his former ally. The Rock broke up the pinfall.
Angle's Olympic Slam was broken up, as was Austin's Stunner, and Taker's chokeslam.
Taker threw Triple H into the cage multiple times, even using him as a human
dart at one point. Vince and
the stooges backed
a truck up to the cage, and had the door torn off. Vince ordered the rest
of the cage torn down as well, but Mick Foley came out, knocked out the stooges
and had Vince escorted out of the arena by special forces. Triple H
and Austin battled out of the cage and to the cars on the Armageddon
set, but Triple H fought back and threw Austin through a car window.
The Rock tried to deliver a Rock Bottom on top of a car, but Triple H low-blowed
him and gave him a Pedigree on top of the car. Angle hit Taker with
a chair, then fled to the top of the cage, where Austin and Triple H had gone.
Taker followed Angle up there, and busted Angle open. Austin and Triple
H climbed down even as Rikishi climbed up! The chair had made
it to the top by now, and Taker demolished Angle. Rikishi grabbed the
chair, then hit Taker with it and started to go for Angle, but Taker recovered
and threw the 400-pound Samoan off the top of the cage onto the truck!
Inside the cage and in the ring, The Rock hit Austin with a spinebuster, but
Triple H stopped the People's Elbow with a clothesline. The Rock threw
the Game out of the ring, hit Angle with a Rock Bottom, but Austin broke the
pin. Austin Stunner'd The Rock, but Triple H broke up the pin.
While Triple H and Austin went at it, Angle sneaked in and pinned The Rock
to retain his WWF Championship. After the match, Austin Stunner'd Angle,
but was too late to do anything about the outcome of the match. (Winner:
Kurt Angle via Austin Stone Cold Stunner)
