"she's legal, I swear"

Well OK. It's been like half a year since I've done one of these. Ha ha. You think I'm going to catch you up on half a year in one rambling? Hells no. Well, unless I just do it in a few words, like the e-mail Justin sent me from the other side of the world. But wait... where the F do I begin? The last one was in F-ing January... (not Hanuary, as I almost typed. Hillarious, stupid fingers, really. I think you made a good joke. Now let me break you all.) Oh, by the way, I'm over her. See? ::looks sideways away from screen:: But, as I was telling the little 15 year-old... I've come to accept that I'll never be completely over her, so F it. I've gotten over the idea of trying to get over it. It's much better this way, really. Oh, I just saw her the other day finally, randomly, after... what... two years? Funny too, seeing as I had just started thinking that the person I'm kinda-sorta seeing right now reminds me of her. Ha ha. Then two days later she started sounding like the infamous one, too. I said to Shannon and the 15 year-old, "Oh, yeah, the other night, (name), sounded like (the infamous one). Scary. I'm screwed. That's it. I'm stuck in this one now. It's over." I don't know if that's true, but...

Oh, speaking of this new girl... (she's legal, I swear. Oh, great. Long sidenote. Within the last six months, my friends and co-workers have decided to start giving me crap about being attracted to underage women. This all started w/ the afformentioned 15 year-old, who was, at the time, 14. But that's a whole nother story, as they say. Where I come from. ;) Bleh. Now I forgot what I was saying about her. Oh, right. Just after we started this lack of a relationship (which again reminds me of something having to do w/ the 15 year-old)... just after meaning... Monday, about 2 days later... I get a phone call at 9:30 in the morning from her. Apparently she had called at 7:15 also, but I was of course asleep. I was still kinda asleep, but I hear "I kinda ran away from home... do you think I could stay there for a couple days?" My mind could not take this. "You did what?" I thought. Or maybe even said. I don't remember. I did ask her why she did it, and the answer is really rather amuzing... It would be anyway, and then it has to do w/ me, so it's even funnier. Basically, I called her at 11:30 Sunday night. Her mom got on her case, saying that she wasn't allowed to recieve calls beyond 10:30, then stood there until the phone was hung up. The girl said that she didn't know that rule applied, since it was her own line. Her mom said that of course she didn't remember that rule, she only remembered what she wanted to hear. Then she asked who it was. Upon hearing the answer, she said that she didn't like her daughter spending so much time w/ someone who's almost 21, since she's only 17. (Yeah, like I said, legal... What? It isn't? You mean this isn't the UK? Or Japan?) She basically ended this speech with something like "As long as you live under my roof, you have to follow my rules." So, she left. Not under the roof, don't have to follow the rules. Simple. Funny though, eh?

But oh, it gets better. This was Monday, the 25th of June. Shannon's 17th birthday. (We had started our whatever the hell relationship this is at her party early Saturday morning...) Anyway, apparently, noticing that her daughter packed up a little more than just school supplies to take to school this morning, her mom started calling her friends at about 12:30. She called Shannon, and said "You knew she was going to run away, didn't you?" Apparently she also accused their friend Amber of this. Amber called Shannon, and one or the other of them had heard her mom mention police. Amber knew that she was going to go meet me at VC. This prompted a great deal of panic on Shannon's part, as I have been told by Amber. Amber says she calmed Shannon down enough to figure out who was at VC who had a cell phone. Bryce. But Shannon started to panic again, because she didn't have Bryce's cell number. (Again, this is all according to Amber, I'm sure Shannon would deny such behavior.) Amber suggested calling his mom to get the number. Shannon called his house, got the number, and called him. So here the girl and I sit, peacefully (or relatively, since I'm telling her that she should at least tell her mom why she ran away...) in the agriculture area of the college, and Bryce and the 15 year-old walk up behind us (they're a couple) and say "The cops are looking for you guys." I instantly panic. This is the second time in my life that I've been in a situation w/ an underage girl and the cops are looking for us. I did not like the idea of getting caught w/ this runaway, even if they couldn't slap me for that word I can't spell type of rape. I got up and walked to the other side of the little pagoda, invisioning cops swarming VC and about to decend on us. She called her mother on Bryce's cell, to explain herself. Her mom said that she could either come home, or the cops would take her to the YCA (that's Youth Correction Authority, for you who don't know. Juvinile hall, basically). This seemed odd to Bryce at least. His mom is involved in some sort of legal profession, so he called her to ask if the police could take that kind of action that early. She said no. That relieved me some. Oh, during these conversations, the 15 year-old came over to me and started basically (I love that word. Vague. Good.) rubbing my arm, trying to calm me down. I was seriously shaking. Funny thing was, we were talking about her making life interesting before they showed up and told us the cops were looking. Now it was even more interesting. But too interesting for me.

Anyway, being mostly calmed down now, we decided to go to Shannon's and then the three of us would go to dinner. (Bryce and the belly dancer were staying at VC. We had talked to Shannon somewhere in all these calls on Bryce's phone.) When we got there, since she really wanted to stay at Shannon's, at least for one night, they somehow decided to try to get Shannon's mom (who lives at a different house) to try to convince her mom to let her stay. I was hungry. But first we had to wait for Shannon's mom to get to her dad's. Then we had to wait for the girl's mom to call Shannon's mom back. Finally, I had to just go home, because I needed to do something productive there, or my parents might start asking why I kept not coming home like I said I would. At home I did my homework. Then I called Shannon. She said that the girl's mom was on her way to take her home. Obviously the convincing had failed. I jumped in the car and raced over to the other side of town. I got there, and we spent quite a few minutes waiting. They kept tryign to get me to hide, not wanting her mom to see me when she came. I said I could easily just jump to the stairwell, which isn't visible to the door. Anyway, after a while, I said bye to her on the stairs and went and hid out w/ Shannon's brother and his girlfriend. (Henceforth refered to as Brady and the pregnant lady.) After a while, Brady said "Maybe it's taking so long because the police really are coming." A while longer, and they got tired of waiting, and went down to go for their walk. Apparently, they found a surprise when they went down. There were two cops watching baseball w/ Shannon and the girl. Apparently her mom sent the cops in order to make sure she'd come with her. Anyway, I'm tired. Gotta get up and type my essay in the morning. Peace out...
