The Mystery of Numerology

Now, I can see the face of a few curious readers, and I can read in your minds: 'Just what in heck is Numerology?' Right ;P

Well, I guess that you can say that it's an occult science of sort through which we use the birthdate and name of the person to 'analyze' his/her personality. The principle of calculation

Back to Luke and friends, we naturally forget the calculation of the birthdate, but still, as you'll see for yourself, and that you can verify with any book of Numerology, or the websites below, the names of the characters, although chosen by authors, simply fit the personalities of the characters ;)

'All right, all right, but that doesn't tell me how you make the calculations,'

(SJ clears her throat) Sorry. To calculate one's numerology, we basically use charts that come from very ancient times in order to transform the name and numbers into significant numbers.

Of course, for the birthdate, all we have to do is to reduce its numbers (day, month, year) to their most basic expression. For example, 20 becomes 2, 17 becomes 8, etc.

However, it is a little more complex for the letters. In order to analyze the names, we first use a chart to transform each letter into a number. (a =1, b=2, c=3, till i=9 then j=1 and so on). thus, for example, Luke becomes: 3325, Leia is: 3591, etc. Do you still follow me?

Okay. So, once this transformation is laid down on paper, we simply mix the numbers together and 'translate' them, according to specific indications, into their corresponding information (expression, soul's urge, life path, etc.). For example: 3325 = 13 = 4 equals the Growth number of Luke, which is obtained by the addition of all the letters of his first name ;)

'Yeah, but then we can make those numbers say what we want. It doesn't work.'

Actually in Numerology, every possible combination is exploited and analyzed. Each resulting number then has a particular meaning depending through which combination we obtained it. It's interpretation, although specific, is naturally influenced by the other numbers that we find throughout the calculations. Given the unfathomable number of possible combination, we thus end up with a unique result for every one of us, and it always matches. In my opinion, that 'is' what makes Numerology so fascinating :)

Hmmm, sorry about that outburst ;) Back on the subject, Numerology then becomes occult when its analysis leads us to explore the subject's destiny through his Karmic (past lives) numbers (13-14-16-19) or his master, very rare numbers (11-22). Those six numbers are special and denote either difficulties to overcome or else drag throughout life, or, on the opposite specter of energies, unusual strenght and potential for spirituality (or to experience true values of Life, not material only if you will ;).

Next comes the Intensity Table and the Temper, both tables which deal directly with the letters and their respective quantities in our usual name. Once again, everything is considered :)

Finally, comes the analysis of the first letter and vowel of the first name.

'Hmmmm...'

Still not convinced? Well, to test this theory further myself, I have done the numerology of people at work, people I didn't know, and they gaped at me even a few days after I gave them the results ;) Even my boss ;) THe same thing then happened when I did it for web friends, or strangers ;)

I also did those of Elvis Presley and Celine Dion... Yup, they fit too ;) Oh, and you know, I said occult, but in fact, it's more about knowing who we are by tracing a portrait, or that of others ;)

Characters' Numerologies

Now, I swear that I didn't make any of this up, nor did I base it on my knowledge of the characters. I just made the different calculations, then went through the different charts and summarized what was there.

Luke Sywalker

Expression (or what we see):character marked by joy of living, friendly, inspiring, too sensitive, skill for teaching.

Soul's Urge (or his drive): having a happy life but due to karmic numbers (or difficulties), get more than his share of hard work, can be discontent of limitations due to those but must learn to accept those and be happy as he is.

Intensity Table (each number and its intensity in his name): Lack of self-confidence, must learn to be independent, is very considerate, probably has an artistic streak (we see this in some fics ;), must accept hard work, be patient, must accept the responsibilities that befall him, might feel a pressure to care for others and the others lean on him because of it, need to balance his need to serve the others with taking care of himself, must handle his own affairs.

Growth (or his adult life): Must accept responsibilities without being frustrated, serve the others for the satisfaction of serving the others (don't we mention lack of money for what he does for the galaxy... ;)

Secret Self (his inner desires): selflessness, humanitarian values, builder.

Temper: Intuitive influences dominate his perceptions

L: sensivite, creative, fine reasoning abilities and powers of analysis

U: good with words, sensitive (isn't he ;), emotional, friendly (again), idealistic, extremely intuitive. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;P

Mara Jade:

Expression: manager, achievement and involved with money, efficient, good judgment of character, practical, self-confident, dependable, rigid, stubborn, intolerant.

Soul's Urge: wants wealth, power, excels in business (trader perhaps... ;), analytical, self-controlled, represses feelings )(!!!)

Intensity Table: very independent, easily frustrated, to be sensitive and diplomatic will be very important in her life, if not, can lead to trouble. Difficulties with expressing herself and dealing with social affairs, aggressive, limited understanding of others, much responsibilities, takes much, others lean on her (like Luke...), much work for marriage and parenthood (!!!), like her husband has to learn to balance the worry of others with herself, but the opposite ;) (okay, that I interpreted, but the characteristic is still there), will deal with separation and frustrations until she learns to care, must learn to show her feelings.

Growth: FAMILY ;P, responsibilities and making her home a stable and love-filled place, helpful, to give out friendship, affection and love (!!!)

Secret Self: deeps down, wants to be able to be selfless (like a certain farmboy ;)

Temper: Mental and physical at a tie.

M: hard-worker, self-disciplined, serious, steady, thorough, goal-oriented

A: leader, moderately adventurous, independent, self-reliant, good mind, cautious. :O :O

Leia Organa:

Expression: Inspires others, inner strength, sensitive, intuition, analytical, friendly, has a bad temper, might try to impose her standards and ideas on others.

Soul's Urge: wants freedom, likes excitement, is adaptable, resourceful, has strong feelings, may deal with a painful interruption in her personal relationship (???? Alderaan and Han), must learn to learn from hers and others experience.

Intensity Table: Independent, slightly selfish, sensitive but could be more sensitive to others, will find herself in a domain where consideration, diplomacy and attention to detail will be useful (!!!), those being already developped in this person. Works hard, long and patiently, can be rigid and deal with a limited understanding of the others, must handle her own affairs, restricted point of view.

Growth: must learn to give for the pleasure of giving, must allow the others' needs to be important.

Secret Self: Family, harmony, love, responsibility, close relationships with few.

Temper: Mental... no intuition... no Jedi inkling ;)

L: creative, verbal, fine reasoning abilities and powers of analysis

E: adventurous, restless, impulsive, agressive, adaptable, energy, mental, judgemental, practical. ???!!!!????? ;)

Han Solo:

Expression: Joy of living, words, friendly, charming, very social, loves good time, too easy going, superficial (incidentally, Luke and Han have the same expression, but Luke has tempered the negative side already ;) (as can be with real people like a co-worker told me today)

Soul's Urge: wants a stable life, is a natural manager, logical, thorough, reliable, practical, stubborn, hide his feelings.

Intensity table: Must be independent or will be overwhelmed by others, must make decisions for himself, will find himself in situations were consideration, sensitivity and diplomacy will serve him well (like Leia ;), sees hard work as a limitation, searches for the easy way out, limited understanding of others, mostly has his mind made up about things, difficult to make it change, must learn to express his feelings and care about the others.

Growth: Excitement and learning but must balance the physical pleasures (money included), to learn the pleasure of attachement to others instead of things, till then, will deal with losses.

Secret self: has a drive for the material world, but must understand that it is only a mean to an end, not the end. Till then, will be rigid, single-minded, worried about status (being the best).

Temper: Emotion and mental. No intuition ;)

H: Consciousness, leadership, works well with others, keen perception of people and events, strong desires might find themselves changed through events (the first trilogy perhaps... ;)

A:passive leader, independent, self-reliant, good mind, excellent ideas. !!!!!!!!!! ;P

For other characters, I quickly checked and got a struggle against limitation for Ani but a negative use of wanting to change the world for Vader (trying to force his vision on others). For Padme, it was about simply enjoying life, like her son-in-law ;)

As you can see by yourselves, this is true; I didn't make any of this up nor did I select what I had to tell you, In fact, I had to pick to summarize everything...
It's not a matter that everything fits everyone either, I assure you. Sometimes, I made mistakes in my calculations and the resulting characteristics didn't fit at all ;)

To give you a concrete example of this occult science, Numerology is what the industry uses to make those birthday cards and markers with people's name on it and when we read them, we recognize ourselves...

However, what is very special this time is that the names mentioned above aren't about real people and that the characters are developped by tons of people (officially or not)... yet we do follow those lines.......

So, reactions??? Personally, I'm still gaping :O ;P
