Duncan MacLeod

YOB: 1592 A.D.

Duncan MacLeod has always been one of the good guys. He was raised with love by foster parents who trained him to one day lead his Highland people and instilled in him a strict moral code that made him proud to be Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. Despite all the changes in his life over the past 400 years, that Highland code of honor has stayed with him -- and has gotten him into more than a few jams over the years that probably wouldn't have bothered a less ethical man. His blindspot where his friends and lovers are concerned is legendary and will probably get him killed some day, either whacked by some evil bitch whose head he can't bring himself to take or backed into one of those awkward corners Amanda always manages to wheedle him into. MacLeod also has a great deal of trouble admitting when he's wrong -- but on the other hand, he very rarely is. He had the good fortune to be taught by some of the best there ever were -- Connor MacLeod, Hamza el Kahir, Graham Ashe, May-Ling Shen to name a few -- good people who taught him not only how to be an Immortal, but also how to be a wise and caring man. And MacLeod, to their credit, become a great teacher himself, encouraging young Immortals and showing them that Immortality is not just about how many heads they take, but how they choose to live the extended lives they've been given. He's not a perfect man and he makes mistakes. Part of his nature, for good or bad, is that every mistake stays with him until he's paid for it time and time again. And there are some, like the tragic death of Richie Ryan, which will stay with him forever. But they're part of what make him the man he is. They're part of what makes him Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod.
