Robert W. Chambers lived from 1865 to 1933. He wrote from 1894
to 1933. He was the highest paid author of his day, but today he is only
remembered for his second work, The King in Yellow, if he is remembered at
all. My GuestBook aims to record the level of awareness of my guests as
to the work of Chambers. I'm not sure if anything of value can be gained
through this because most of the people coming here must know something
about Chambers just to get here. But what the heck, it is not like I'm
out to do hard science here any way we go.

Comments: Wonderful page! Keep up the good work.
Comments: Thanks for posting the (almost) complete King In Yellow! I think that Chambers' dreamy and romantic style of horror might be able to find a large new audience if given the chance. Glad to see you got the book okay - sorry it wasn't one of his better works!
Comments: I have wondered for decades about this book. I think the problem is deeper than a prior lost love. It is cut of very peculiar cloth and presages postmodern work by literary giants of our time; Cortazar comes closest also, Borges and Ballard and Burroughs William). Perhaps cocaine (common at the time)? Perhaps, but it is still remarkable...
Comments: Just over here checking out your site for the Howling Hot Site Award! Wonderful stuff. I am familiar with Chambers mostly through 'The King in Yellow'. It is nice to see someone devoting web space to him. Great stuff. Keep up the good work. frogdoggie
Comments: Chambers is kewl and so is Lovecraft, as I can relate to your thoughts on their ways of thinking!
