Synopsis:
Thor returns to New York City and to his Siguard Jarlson identity. However, his return to the construction business is interrupted by the Mongoose. Spidey and Thor team-up to fight the Mongoose, but he manages to get away.

Synopsis:
Hogun is sent to Earth to seek Thor's help, but he's disoriented from the means of transport and believes everyone is hostile demons. Thor as Sigurd Jarlson accompanies architect Eric Masterson on a new bid. Unfortunately, Quicksand is out for revenge and attacks. Thor gets involved and quite learns that she's a formidable foe. Meanwhile, Daredevil gives the police a break and confronts the dazed and confused Hogun.

Synopsis:
Thor regains the upper hand in his battle against Quicksand and she withdraws. However, Quicksand returns and manages to activate the nuclear plant's core.  She escapes while Thor uses Mjolnir to transport the plant  to a distant and dead world where it explodes. Meanwhile, Daredevil valiantly battles against a delusional Hogun and holds his own despite Hogun's superior strength and toughness. Unfortunately, Hogun is critically injured during the battle. Back in Asgard, they repel a wave of Seth's warriors.

Synopsis:
A Hollywood  producer tapped to do a Thor movie asks a writer to add a bit more human interest to the script. She contacts a lot of early witness to Thor's activities, including Harris Hobbs (JIM #114-116, Thor #274-278). She also have a heart-to-heart chat with Jane Foster-Kincaid, who has settled down and started a family. She finally tackles the script and does a bang-up job on it only to find out that the producer has opted to do an animated Thor cartoon instead.

  • DeFalco/Frenz/Breeding provide a 3-page prologue and the rest is a fill-in issue.

Synopsis:
Thor checks in on Hogun who has been rushed to the hospital by Daredevil. Meanwhile, Seth approaches three patients who lies near death. He heals them and provides them with powers providing that they kill Hogun , to "save the Earth" of course. Thor battles them while Hogun fights for his life in surgery. Unwilling to kill Hogun, the Earth Force escapes. Hogun's surgery is a success and he will recover.

The Mighty Thor # 396: "Into the Realm of Death --!"

Synopsis:
A blood transfusion from Thor finally gets Hogun back on his feet. Hogun is then finally able to tell Thor that Asgard is under siege by Seth's forces. The Earth Force pledges their help against Seth. Black Knight meets up with them as they pay Grog a visit at the Vault. Grog escapes and Thor and company follow him to Seth's death dimension where they are surrounded by hordes of Seth's warriors. Seth's main forces attack Asgard and Balder is forced to active the Celestial Siphon, which drains Thor of his godly powers and bestows them on Balder. Thor and company are overwhelmed by Grog and Seth's warriors.

Synopsis:
Grog takes pleasure in torturing Thor. Balder, who now possess Thor's power, leads the effort to repel Seth's legions of death. Seth meets with Loki and Loki realizes that he must seek out Seth's mysterious source of power. Thor frees himself and the others and he delivers Grog a serious beating despite not having his powers.

Synopsis:
Thor and company battle on against Seth's warriors in the Death dimension. Grog leads them to Seth's power source which turns out to be the egyptian god of luck, Bes. Bes then leads them to Odin, who has been imprisoned by Seth. Meanwhile back in Asgard, the Celtic gods of Avalon join Balder and the Asgardians against Seth's legions of death.

Jay's Notes:

  • Heimdall dies of serious battle wounds.

The Mighty Thor # 399: "When Asgard Dies"

Synopsis:
Seth's onslaught against Asgard continues. Seth challenges Balder to single combat while his troops secretly infiltrate and seize control of Asgard. Meanwhile in the Death dimension, Thor and company free Odin and battle their way out of the Black Pyramid. Odin returns to Asgard with the others, but leaves Thor behind with his Odin Power to confront Surtur.

Jay's Notes:

  • Unfortunately, there's no clear explanations of how Seth captured and imprisoned Odin.
  • Lorelei sacrifices herself to save Balder.

The Mighty Thor # 400: "Lest th Heavens Perish!"

Synopsis:
Thor, imbued with the Odin Power, engages Surtur in a dimension spanning, cosmic battle. Meanwhile in Asgard, Balder convinces Karnilla to rally the Trolls, Norns, and Giants in Asgard's defense. Odin's return inspires his subjects and he takes on Seth directly. Using the Black Knight as a weapon (since his sword's curse has been acting up), Hogun helps Odin defeat Seth. As well, Thor delivers a crushing blow against Surtur and defeats him. Odin then takes back the Odin Power from Thor and absorbs Surtur into his body. 

Jay's Notes:

  • Wonderful inking by Sinnott, who is a true Marvel master.
  • Major plot mistake here when Odin's throne room is defended by Fandrall, Volstagg, and ?? Heimdall ?? Didn't he die in #398?
