While I usually can slam out a good song parody in anywhere from fifteen minutes to two hours and get good results, this one kept getting interrupted and became fraught with difficulty. I've been at this one for about three weeks. Looking at it, I can see where the parody goes flat, but I promised myself I'd have this done and released by Valentine's Day, and so here it is. I hope what I've done is quality enough.

(guitar intro)

A lovestruck chipmunk
Sings a solo serenade,
Layin' everybody low
With the love song that he plays.
Then a rigged-up spotlight
Tears him from the shade,
He says somethin' like, "Hey beautiful,
How about it?"

Gadget says, "Hey, 's that you, Chip? Е.
Whatcha doin' up so late?"
On the branch beneath her window,
He hopes togetherness is their fate.
He spins lines in lyric melody,
Hopin' that he'll get a first dateЕ.
But someone else's got somethin' to say about it!

"Gad-get!" screams a rad chipmunk on the loose
'Cause he's a-playin' Е a rockin' love song by Iron Goose
And she forgets, she forgets, Е Chip's tender song.
She's too busy laughin', 'cause half Dale's chords are wrong! "Gad-get!"

(guitar interlude)

Meanwhile on a sep'rate branch,
Watchin' from a clump of leaves,
Both young, both heartsick;
It's Gadget's suitors that they see.
Why should they be lonesome,
While she gets to have two?
A young squirrel and bat
Are both thinking there's affection that's overdue!

Well, Dale has offered bracelets silver,
Chip's showed her rings of gold.
They've fallen for this Е pretty mousie,
In her hands, their hearts, she holds.
They've promised her everything,
They'll stick with her through thick and thin.
But only part of her's flattered
That they want her to be any more than just friends.

Gadget Е remembers how she used to cry,
Living alone Е in that old machine from the sky.
It's just the time's Е not right Е for her to love
One over another Е now back to Tammy and Foxglove Е (not Gadget)

(guitar interlude)

They're getting overzealous
Wanting affection enjoyed.
'Cause they're just a Е little jealous
Of Gadget's success with the boys.
Tammy rushing-tackles Chip,
Foxy swoops down, catches Dale.
Words didn't get them noticed
But their actions sure didn't fail!

They didn't quite expect this,
The chipmunks run like heck for cover.
Isn't it kinda fun to watch these
Tiffs between their friends and lovers?
Tammy's runnin', catchin' up,
Says, "Gadget, that 'munk is mine!"
Foxy's caught a bit abrupt,
Says, "Hey, Tammy, that's my line!"

Gadget Е watches what's happened with surprise
And snickers softly Е at the strange problems of the guys.
Appreciates Е the thoughts Е. and the intent,
"But," she thinks to herself, "I just don't think I'm ready yet." (O Gadget)

(guitar interlude x2)

Two lovesick chipmunks,
Sang for her a serenade,
And laid everybody low,
With the love songs that they played.
Turns off her spotlight,
Goes to bed after she's prayed,
Thinks something like,
"Maybe someday Е.. I'll think about it ЕЕ.."
