Durning this episode the day repeats for Xena...a lot. The episode shows at least 14 of those repeating days and those are the days listed below. The show does hint at more.
Day 1
The rooster crows. Joxer brings Xena and Gabrielle goose eggs for breakfast. Later that day Joxer steps in between two men fighting with swords to stop them. He gets caught in the middle and is killed. Xena and Gabrielle have a funeral for him.
Day 2
The rooster crows. Joxer brings Xena and Gabrielle goose eggs for breakfast. Xena is amazed that he is still alive. Xena discovers that she is reliving the day before. She is able to save Joxer this time, but someone else gets killed and revenging party kills Argo.
Day 3
The rooster crows. Joxer brings Xena and Gabrielle goose eggs for breakfast. Argo is alive. Joxer tells Xena his master plan. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." To stop a feud he believes to get both houses mad at them and then they'll bond together to fight them. Then they will lay down their weapons and make peace. Xena brushes him off. She realizes she must break the cycle. Xena hears that they are fighting because Casca has been killed. She must figure out who Casca is.
Day 4
The rooster crows. Before Joxer can bring them breakfast, Xena knocks him down as she runs out. She finds Casca and saves him from being run down by a carriage. The fighting breaks out anyway and Gabrielle gets killed.
Day 5
The rooster crows. Gabrielle is alive. Joxer brings them breakfast when he sees Xena and Gabrielle hugging. He runs in eager to join--much to their displeasure. Later Xena tells Joxer and Gabrielle her problem. Joxer suggests that maybe its the rooster.
Day 6
Xena kills the rooster.
Day 7
The rooster crows. Xena gets fed up at Joxer because he's being annoying, so to shut him up she tells Gabrielle that Joxer is in love with her. He's stupified.
Day 8
The rooster crows. Xena runs around town trying to stop the fights but they keep breaking out anyway. Gabrielle says she wishes they had the time to remind the people of their hardships they've have. Xena realizes she has time. She finds a vial of Nightspade, lethal stuff. Joxer begins to tell Xena his plan. Xena allows him to proceed, much to his delight. They all get killed.
Day 9
The rooster crows. They are all alive. Joxer comes in with breakfast. Xena grabs her chakram and lets it fly...killing Joxer.
Day 10
The rooster crows. Joxer is alive. Xena ties up Gabrielle and Joxer for the day while she goes out and shes the local apothecary to ask about the Nightspade and finds it missing. Then she visits a midwife to learn the stories of the town.
Day 11
The rooster crows. Xena stops the fighting by showing the people that they are fighting members of their own family. Peace is issued. Everyone is happy. Xena, Gabrielle, and Joxer go off to have a party. Then we see a couple weeping in the corner.
Day 12
The rooster crows. The day has repeated again. Xena lays on her back talking to herself about the past days while Joxer and Gabrielle look at her thinking she's lost her mind. Xena discovers she has forgotten about the nightspade. She learns that the day is repeating because Hermia has taken nightspade and will die the next day. But because Hermia and Neron's love is so strong Cupid said he'd grant them one wish. Neron wished that tomorrow would never come. Cupid granted this wish until a hero would come and set things straight.
Day13
While Joxer and Gabrielle desperatly try to stop the fighting Xena takes measurements of the whole town. Joxer tries his best to help Gabrielle but he gets knocked out.
Day 14
The rooster crows. Joxer bringing his goose eggs gets knocked out when Xena opens the door too fast and knocks him out. She makes her chakram throw that she planned out the day before and manages to save Hermia and Casca. She makes peace between the two houses and everything is as it should.
Day 15
The rooster crows. Joxer brings Xena and Gabrielle TURNIPS for breakfast. Xena realizes life is going on and everything is back to normal.
Joxer Quotes
JOXER: "Rise and shine everyone!
Rise and shine!"
GABRIELLE: "Rise and shine.
I'll rise but I refuse to shine!"
"Look I've known lots of people who've bonded over their mutal hatred of me--you two for example."
JOXER: "Well--what if you stayed awake all night? I could stay up with you, and, even stay up with you, and, even sing to you, like 'Go to sleep, Xe-e-ena, the day is long--"
XENA: "Joxer! I have tried that! Thank you Joxer but I have tried everything."
"Alley? What is she talking about? I'm not going in an alley! I'm Joxer the Mighty!"
JOXER: "Wow--she has really lost it."
GABRIELLE: "Completely."
GABRIELLE: "Xena! Xena! You have to stop them!"
XENA: "Been there...done that....didn't work."
GABRIELLE: "Xena!"
XENA: "I am real busy here. Go play with Joxer."
JOXER: "Don't worry; she's gone. But you can still be my sidekick!"
Disclaimer: The rooster was not harmed during the production of this motion picture, although his feathers were slightly ruffled. However, a little gel and mousse straightened out the mess.
