May the blessings of love be upon you, May its essence illuminate your heart, Now and forever more. ~~~ |
Where there is Love the Heart is Light. |
Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort, of feeling safe with a person, Having neither to weigh thoughts, nor measure words, But pouring them all right out as they are, chaff and grain together, Certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, Keep what is worth keeping, And with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Mulock Craik |
If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come. ~ Chinese proverb |
The soul would have no rainbow, had the eye no tears. ~Author Unknown |
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. ~Antonio Smith |
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." ~Mahatma Gandhi |
"If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give." ~George MacDonald |
Let me be a little meeker With the person who is weaker; Let me think more of my neighbor And a little less of me. ~Author Unknown |
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman. "I've been thinking," he said, "I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone." ~Author Unknown |
Portrait of a Friend I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts, or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answers. I can't change your past with all it's heartache and pain nor the future with it's untold stories. But I can be there now when you need me to care. I can't keep your feet from stumbling. I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall. Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine; yet I can share in your laughter. Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge; I can only support you, encourage you, and help you when you ask. I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship, from your values, from me. I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you. I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you, but I can give you the room to change, room to grow, room to be yourself. I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting, but I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place. I can't tell you who you are. I can only love you and be your friend. ~Author Unknown |
Suddenly There's a Valley When you've climbed the highest mountain, When a cloud holds the sunshine in, Suddenly there's a valley Where the earth knows peace with man. When a storm hides the distant rainbow And you think you can't find a friend, Suddenly there's a valley Where friendships never end; Touched only by the seasons, Swept clean by the waving grain, Surveyed by a happy bluebird And kissed by the falling rain. When you think there's no bright tomorrow And you feel you can't try again, Suddenly there's a valley Where hope and love begin. ~Author Unknown |
Winds of Love Winds of love blow softly, Dusting my soul with You; The morning sun embraces me, Tender kisses of glistening dew. The trees above are swaying, In unison with the breeze; With gaiety, and such passion, Fairies paint the leaves. I hear the flowers whispering, To the bees who hum, "Good day!" Your enchanting harmony of nature, A wondrous display. Tall sweet grass caresses me, As I gaze at the heavens above; The breathtaking beauty uplifts me On the delicate winds of love. I float on the wing of an angel, Infinity holds my hand; We dance to the song of eternity, Serenity, the band. In awe of Your rainbow of promise, Tears stream down my face; You've opened my eyes completely, Lord, With winds of love and Your saving Grace. Copyright ©1994 Heather Jose |
He is Happiest Who hath power, To gather wisdom From a flower. ~Mary Howitt |
At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in." Hungry not only for bread -- but hungry for love. Naked not only for clothing -- but naked of human dignity and respect. Homeless not only for want of a home of bricks -- but homeless because of rejection." ~Author Unknown |
After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can rest only for a moment, for with freedom comes responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not yet ended. ~Nelson Mandela |
Pint-Sized Peace A pint-sized piece Of the greatest peace of mind, Could be the pint-sized peace That we share from time to time. Sharing a pint-sized piece Of peace and love and care, Could mean pint-sized happiness For people everywhere. Pint-sized happiness Does not mean it would be small - For the pint-sized peacefulness Is the children in us all. A pint-sized piece Of the greatest peace of mine, Would be the sparkle in a child's eye, Not touched by war or time. Copyright ©1993 Heather Jose |
Of Springtime The laughter of the children Their innocence, so fair, Springtime trees are budding to The enchantment in the air... The summer breeze sings to the children, And for all who wish to hear, Mother Nature, she whispers softly: "Father Winter is near"... Children they grow too quickly, Sweet splendor, soon days gone by, Are the beauteous Autumn leaves that fall A kiss, a wave, a sigh?... Embrace the glory of Springtime, The children and what they impart, Father Winter, he comes very quietly... The hush, it might break your heart. Copyright ©1993 Heather Jose |
How Beautiful How beautiful the hands that served The wine and the bread and the sons of the earth How beautiful the feet that walked The long dusty roads and the hill to the cross How beautiful, how beautiful, is the body of Christ. How beautiful the heart that bled That took all my sins and bore it instead How beautiful the tender eyes That choose to forgive and never despise How beautiful, how beautiful, is the body of Christ. And as He laid down His life We offer this sacrifice That we will live just as He died Willing to pay the price. How beautiful the radiant bride Who waits for her Groom with His light in her eyes How beautiful when humble hearts give The fruit of pure lives so that others may live How beautiful, how beautiful, is the body of Christ. How beautiful the feet that bring The sound of good news and the love of the King How beautiful the hands that serve The wine and the bread and the sons of the earth How beautiful, how beautiful, is the body of Christ. ~Twila Paris |
And forget not that the earth delights to feel the touch of your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~Kahlil Gibran |
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched ~ they must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller |
I used to sit on the banks with a raft and watch the water roll lazily by. One day I pushed my raft into the shallows of the water and found the water moved swifter than I thought. My raft was actually a boat. Then, after some time, I rowed my little boat into deeper water. There were great storms, mighty winds, tremendous waves, and sometimes I felt so alone. But I have noticed my little rowboat is now a mighty ship manned by my friends and loved ones; and beautiful calm seas, warm sunny days, and nights filled with comfortable dreams always double after a storm. Now, I could never go back and sit on the bank. In fact, I search for deeper water. Such is life when lived. ~B. D. Gulledge |

My whole heart has not one single grain, this moment, of thirst after approbation. I feel alone with God; He fills the void; I have not one wish, one will, one desire, but in Him; He hath set my feet in a large room, I have wondered and stood amazed that God should make a conquest of all within me by love. ~ Lady Huntington |
I Needed The Quiet I needed the quiet so He drew me aside Into the shadows where we could confide, Away from the bustle where all the day long I hurried and worried when active and strong. I needed the quiet tho at first I rebelled, But gently, so gently my cross He upheld, And whispered so sweetly of spiritual things, Tho weakened in body, my spirit took wings To heights never heard of when active and gay, He loved me so greatly He drew me away. I needed the quiet, no prison my bed, But a beautiful valley of blessings instead ~ A place to grow richer in Jesus to hide I needed the quiet so He drew me aside. ~ Alice H. Mortenson (This poem is so dear to my heart, because Jesus knew I needed the quiet, so He also drew me aside. . .) |
