The Well of Souls

Peer we now

Into the watery deep.

Find we now

The victims of sleep.

Cast the bones,

Read the scroll.

These are the drowned

In the Well of Souls.

Old Man's dreams

Are spreading so thin.

Family falls out

As fear tumbles in.

Storm breaks,

And life grows cold.

Not even gilded

What once was gold.

Colors are muted,

Songs now grow dim.

"All of my life

Was lived for him."

"He stopped me once

From what he did.

He showed my joy

From where it was hid."

Sorrow and heartbreak,

"I call on God's name.

Once my greatest pride

Now is laced with shame."

Storm has broken,

And shadows fall.

"I guess he answered

God's last call."

Old Woman holds

With all her strength.

To the son beyond her grasp,

Measure and length.

Storm breaks,

"Now why did he go?

Always in his own world,

Now I'll never know."

"Noble and majestic,

Ever through rain and sleet.

Now lying as a lamb,

At Your noble feet."

"How could You let this happen?

You who love life so much,

Or was it I who let him go

And ne'er his heart did I touch?"

Storm has broken,

Hold the other closer still.

Weep not tears for him,

For it was ever all his will.

River Rose tries,

And tries and fails.

They hurt each other

And declare their wails.

Storm breaks,

Now it's for real.

Shall her heartache

Ever truly heal?

The scream now echoes

And touches the night.

Sorrow for him,

And sorrow for spite.

Sorrow comes late,

But now comes the dawn.

Why couldn't forgiveness

Have been earlier on?

Storm has broken,

And she gets up.

Wipe away one last tear

To fill his silver cup.

Black Rose is troubled

As she tries to stop the rain.

But trouble ever rumbles,

Causing only pain.

Storm breaks,

The world begins to crumble.

Tears replace the rain

As thunder ceases rumble.

Colors mute

And shadows grow.

Ashes reign

Like driven snow.

Shattered illusions

Dampen all laughter.

"I couldn't reach him then

Or, now, ever after."

Storm has broken,

Shines harsh light of day.

World dissolved

Since he fell away.

Little Bit threatens,

But they are in vain.

Threats never detract

From any such pain.

Storm breaks,

And fells a tree.

One last time,

"Well what about me?"

"Doesn't he care

He, filled with sin,

About the pain

He put me in?"

But she has life,

And she has love.

All the things

That he dreamed of.

Diamond, ruby,

Sapphire, gem.

Life's diminished

Without him.

Storm has broken,

And she shall grow.

Leaving pain for love,

With someone else in tow.

Hummingbird soars,

And brightens the skies,

Adding color

Wherever he flies.

Storm breaks,

And the little bird falls.

"Come back and stay,"

The hummingbird calls.

"The things we shared,

The times we had,

Never a new game

Without feeling sad."

Roll the dice

And take a chance.

He happed to fall

Upon the lance.

Storm has broken,

Yet tears silent stay,

Held in the hearts

Of those who pray.
