Countries You Need to Know About

The Republic of Darokin
A land ruled by a merchant council and an elected merchant prince. Controls the most prosperous land trade routes in the Known World. Does not have a standing army as such, but a force called the Darokin Diplomatic Corps. These are lightly armed (pikes and leather tunics) soldiers, and the republic believes this is less antagonistic then heavily armed troops. It tries to solve problems by diplomacy. Capital: Darokin.

The Duchy of Karmeikos
A rough land only half controlled by humans. Still under the loose control of the Empire of Thyatis. Its ruler is Duke Stephen Karameikos, and is an ally of Darokin. Capital: Specularum.

The Empire of Thyatis
A sprawling Empire with some similarities to ancient Rome. In the past it had an even greater hold on the Known World, to the extent that its language Thyatian is spoken almost everywhere.

The Principalities of Glantri
A loose knit group of Pricely states ruled by mages. Capital: Glantri City.

The Five Shires
The homeland of the halflings. Also allies of Karameikos and Darokin.

Alfheim
The homeland of the elves. A huge forest right in the middle of Darokin.

Minrothad Guilds
A sea trading nation.

The Kingdom of Sind
A huge desert nation ruled by a Sultan. He rules through a system of Mumlykets which control the smaller provinces. Survives manly on the trade which passes through it from Darokin to Slagovich. Capital: Sayr Ulan

Slagovich
A mysterious nation to the west of the Sind desert.
