Alderaan was the adopted homeworld of Princess Leia. It was once a shinning star in the Old Republic. Leia's adopted father, Bail Organa, fought in the Clone Wars beside Ben Kenobi. It was because of the horrors of that was, that Alderaan decided to take a stance when peacewas restored. All weapons were banned from the planet and the gouvernment implimented a philosophy of pacifism. When the Emperor's New Order began to arise, many of the young people, including Leia, began to question the pacifistic policies of their gouvernment. As the New Order became more tyrannis, Alderaan became more supportive of the growing Rebellion. However, before Alderaan could officially join the Alliance and rebuild its military, the Empire destroyed the entire planet as a demonstration of the original Death Star's destructive power.
Cloud City was origionally founded by Lord Eccessis Figg of Corellia. He started it as a floating work base and slowly it developed into the city seen is The Empire Strikes Back. Cloud City is a minig outpost and trading station. It floats high in the atmosphere of the gas planet of Bespin. The city's major industry is the mining and export of Tibanna gas, but it also serves as a merchant outpost and recreational center.
Coruscant is the jewel of the Core Worlds. It has been the seat of galactic government since the very beginning. The Old Republic built the Senate Hall on this beautif world. When the Emperor took over, he added to the Presidential Palace to create the Imperial Palace. The structure looms over the Senate Hall to this day. When the New Republic was formed, its members decided to use Coruscant the same way as its previous government had. Imperial City, with its magestic spires and dazzling lights, rests at the base of the snow-covered Manarai Mountains. Once it was called Galactic City, but since the Emperor changed the name, it has remained Imperial City.
It is said that Coruscant sets the tone of the entire galaxy and styles and fads start on this capital world and slowly spread. Its level of culture is unsurpassed anywhere else in the Core or beyond, and all of the "standard" measurments used throughout the galaxy are based upon the norms of Coruscant. Except for a few isolated melees, Coruscant and its area of the Core remained unscathed by the Galactic Civil War. Throughout the collapse if the Old Republic, the time of the Empire, and the rise of the New Republic, the people of Coruscant knew war and hardship only by the news they recieved. Who cares who sits on the seats of power? Coruscant is eternal.
