7th Asian Airwing FAQ
This is where you should find most of the answers to your questions about the Asian Airwing. Who we are? What we are about? What is the point...? We try to anticipate questions, but we cannot possibly predict them all. So, should you have any more queries about us that we have not highlighted, do send them in. Communication channels are mostly secure, so we should get back to you as soon as we possibly can.

What is the Asian Airwing?
The Asian Airwing is an umbrella organization for fans of Space:Above and Beyond in the continent of Asia. Within the Airwing, you will find the various Asian squadrons in the region, and some Asian fans who do not yet belong to any squadrons, national or otherwise.
Why only Asia?
Well, as explained on the index page, S:AAB came to Asia a little later than our American and European counterparts. By the time the first Asian squadron was formed, other world-wide squadrons had already been well-established. But, there was no participation from the Asian continent in the world-wide efforts. Hence the formation of the AsianAirwing to counteract that imbalance. S:AAB is now, with the Asian Airwing, as close to a worldwide phenomenon as it possibly can be.
Why an Airwing?
Good question that! I guess it's because we all want to go up into space just like they do in S:AAB, and the only way you can get up there is to be a flying squadron. Besides, you have to admit that the opportunity to pilot a Hammerhead, even if imaginary, is pretty hard to pass up!
What is the aim of the Asian Airwing?
Well, what with S:AAB's early demise, the purpose of this formation is to spread the popularity of this programme, do what we can to try to bring back the show, even if it's in mini-series form, and do all we can to celebrate and remember a wonderfully scripted and acted series. Even if it never returns, (which we do not want to believe of course!) there will always be what we had, and we can always try to bring it back... We will coordinate our efforts with the various online operations that have been organised, notably, ROS: Retrieve our Show and Operation Demios.
Who are in the Asian Airwing?
Fan squadrons and fans of the show, of course! As of now, there are only 2 known fan squadrons in the region. Both are from South-East Asia, and both are national squadrons:

However, we hope that these numbers will increase once fans from other parts of Asia meet in the Airwing and use their contacts there to form their own regional or national squadrons.

What if I don't have a national squadron?
Well, you have a few options, really, depending on what you want to do. You can either:

  • Join the AA and then use it to find your own countrymen to form your own National squadron; or
  • You can choose to get together to form your own squadron with the other squadron-less people; or
  • Opt to join any of the existing squadrons.

The choice is yours to make, though we would recommend that you opt for either the first or second before considering the third.

What if I have a national squadron?
If you do, then you should join your national or regional squadron. You will automatically be a member of the Airwing through your squadron.
Who is in command?
The Officers. The Officers are a body called the "Central Command". They consist of members of the various squadrons and members of the Airwing. They will, collectively, make the decisions for the Airwing, and work together for the benefit of all. The Central Command can be found at the Personnels page. They are elected in and serve a 6 month rotation before the next election. This is to ensure maximum opprtunity for participation by all.
Ok, you got me interested. How do I know if I am eligible to join?
That's good to know! To join us, go to our Recruiting page. You'll find all you need to know there about the requirements to join the 7th Asian Airwing (not much) and how to go about doing so. (Just fill in the form!)
