WHY?!?, you may ask, is  on the air?According to Jimmy Hix Sr. , now deceased founding father of WLIQ, it seems believes in radio broadcasting for everybodywealthy or not. We like to hear ourselves and our music, and hope others will also. is meant to be a form of entertainment at a minimal cost. I thought
radio broadcasting was supposed to be an enjoyable hobby for everyone.True, there's amateur radio for everyone, but that's regulated also! God forbid we play a song and the record label (big business) and government not get their cuts! Even worse, how dare we broadcast at free will without paying the government a rediculous FEE for a license so they can REGULATE what we are saying and playing. Commercialization and big business should not be able to run our lives. It shouldn't be allowed for the government to be able to regulate our airwaves. We are supposed to be rational thinking beings and we should certainly be able to regulate ourselves. It's up to all free radio operators to cooperate with even the most off the wall and corny programs and operators. We shouldn't be QRM-ing one another. Even if we think a show "sucks".They do eventually go off! Everyone gets a chance to express their feelings and broadcast their shows eventually. Keep in mind that Goof-offs and lousy programming have a large impact on the anti-free radio thinking. Unfortunately thinks that one should be able to broadcast whatever they want, whenever. It's like pornography, adult language or nudity on TV. Or Howard Stern's cutting edge programs on TV and radio! NOTE: No one is FORCING you to view or listen to a specific program! As for children accessing things, well... why do you think NYPD Blue and other shows that are QUOTE offensive UNQUOTE are on at night? Broadcasters are doing as much as they can. We can't come over to your house and tell your kids not to watch or listen to our shows. That's the parents responsibility... Isn't it? It's bad enough that the government makes us pay to own land. The FCC does NOT own the airwaves! Or at least they shouldn't be considered the owners of our airwaves. What's next? A TAX on the air we breathe? WE HAVE A RIGHT TO THE AIRWAVES! EVERYONE should broadcast what they want, when they want! If you don't like it, tune out - don't listen! We shouldn't be fighting amongst ourselves... We can force the fcc and big business to back down if we all take a stand here! At least the European nations are open minded about pirates!~ |
