Hyperdrive

Note: Dimensions are for the "Class 1" design only. Also note that "Class 1" is a Terran designation and not the original Vaxxon classification.

Length: 32'

Width: 32'

Height: 32'

Power Source: Two type 45-A electrical generators working in tandem, and two back-up type 45-A generators (reconfigured to modulate the current to Vaxxon-specific guidelines.)

The hyperdrive technology Star Force uses was developed by the Vaxxons (though similar technology was also developed by the Xurians and by other life forms.) When the Vaxxons and the Terrans (earthlings) became allies, the Vaxxons shared this technology with us and helped integrate it into the Star Force's starship designs.

How it works is still classified (and it is rumored the U.S. government itself does not fully understand it, they just "borrowed" it from the Vaxxons) but what it does will be explained here:

Hyperdrive takes advantage of the fact that our three-dimensional space is curved into the Fourth Dimension. But since this is hard to grasp, we'll explain it with an analogy. Imagine our universe is a flat, two-dimensional piece of rubber.

Now our universe isn't flat, though. It's curved by gravity and other forces, like the sheet of rubber would be warped by the weight of a baseball.

Normally, we travel along the sheet of rubber,

which is just normal travel through 3-D space. But Hyperdrive punches through our normal space and into the Fourth Dimension.

which is a shorter route than our "normal" travel.

When no celestial objects are around to curve space, the hyperdrive unit creates an artificial gravity field that temporarily curves the space around it, creating a "shortcut".

More on the theory behind Hyperdrive.
