The Science Vessel was built before the Star Force team came into existence. It was originally designed to explore the edges of the Solar System and to be a spaceborne sensor platform, free from the obstructions of the earth's atmosphere. It houses a stasis-unit that can be used for trips that would take longer than a human lifetime to complete.
With the introduction of the Hyperdrive unit from the Vaxxons, the capabilities of these ships have been extended far beyond the edges of the Solar System into the edges of the galaxy and beyond.
Six ships were in existence before the Star Force team was founded. Of these, three are still in operation with their original configuration and three have been fitted with Hyperdrive units. More are slated for construction in the future.

Mission: Scientific exploration, both short- and long-range, of the galaxy and possibly the universe. Various sensor/equipment platforms determine the exact nature of the mission.
