Louis Cardinal This hired assassin, also known to be a cohort of Alex Krycek, is responsible for the murder of Scully's sister, Melissa, as well as attempting to assassinate Skinner. Upon being arrested, he conveniently commits suicide while in custody.

Young CSM This is our first glimpse of the black-lunged one while in his first stages of evilness. He is recruited as a young Army Captain by the right wing conspiracy that operates within the shadows of the official government (Musings of a CSM). Upon completion of his first assignment, he lights his first cigarette and becomes the Cigarette Smoking Man.

Black Cancer The Russians infect hundreds of people with a deadly virus, known as the Black Cancer, a black oil that congeals into tiny worms which penetrate the skin. Once infected, these unwitting lab rats are given an injection of what is hoped to be a cure for the deadly disease.

A.D. Walter Skinner Jane Brody, a mail sorter, is stung to death by a swarm of deadly bees (Zero Sum). In order to fulfill his part of a bargain made with CSM to assist in Agt. Scully's cure, Skinner covertly erases evidence of the bee attack and incinerates Brody's body.
