Greece
Tricia and me below the Lion's Gate at Mycenae. The rest of the site wasn't as well preserved.
The mystical site of Delphi is set upon the slope of a mountain. This is looking down at the theater and the temple of Apollo, where the oracle was located.
The tholos of Athena at Delphi was a challenge to draw. The rest of Delphi can be seen on the slope above and to the right of the tholos.
The buildings in the Greek islands are all whitewashed. This church is located on Mykonos, our favorite island.
A narrow street in Mykonos town early in the morning.
This part of Mykonos is known as "Little Venice" because waves wash against the sides of the buildings, which are built directly on the shoreline.
We took an excursion boat to the uninhabited archaeological island of Delos for what was supposed to be a short afternoon. It turned out to be for over a day, since high winds prevented us from leaving the deserted island. Fortunately, being stranded left us a lot of time to explore the ruins.
The Palace of Knossos was the seat of Minoan power in Crete.
Tricia and I hiked the Samaria Gorge in western Crete. This is Tricia near the beginning of the hike. We were glad to see the beach when the trail ended on the southern coast.
Our trip may have been almost over, but we had a lot of window-breaking fun to go as we scanned the horizon for the Eiffel Tower.
