Robotech Episode Descriptions

The Macross Saga

"Boobytrap"

In 2009, the entire Earth celebrates the launching of SDF-1, a huge alien spaceship which crashed on Macross Island ten years earlier and has been reconstructed. Lt. Commander Fokker is outraged when his young friend Rick Hunter upstages the air show with his daredevil flying - but all this is forgotten when the Zentraedi, savage alien warriors, launch an attack on the ship.

"Countdown"

As the invaders rain destruction on the Earth, Captain Gloval realises that despite an untested ship and an inexperienced crew he must take SDF-1 into battle. Rick Hunter, in the midst of struggling to control a Veritech fighter and survive the onslaught, meets Lynn Minmei, a charming young girl whose life he must now save.

"Space Fold"

As the alien attack on Earth continues, Fokker must rescue Rick and Minmei, while Captain Gloval searches for a way to save SDF-1 from destruction by the merciless Zentraedi. His solution is the space fold maneuver - transporting the ship into deep space and leaving the attackers behind. Unfortunately, the jump also causes Macross Island and its 70,000 residents to be transported into hyperspace.

"The Long Wait"

As Captain Gloval discovers that the folds system has vanished, preventing a return to Earth, the crew of SDF-1 works frantically to retrieve the civilians. Meanwhile, trapped in a remote corner of the vast ship, Rick and Minmei struggle for their own survival.

"Transformation"

Macross City is reconstructed aboard the SDF-1 and its citizens, including Rick Hunter and Minmei, try to resume their lives. But their attempts are disrupted as Captain Gloval discovers how to transform SDF-1 into its awesome robotic configuration - just in time to do battle with the approaching Zentraedi Armada. The Earthlings repel the enemy, but again must recover from massive damage.

"Blitzkrieg"

Rick has resisted becoming a Veritech combat pilot, but soon he has no choice: the Zentraedi attack again and Rick and the Robotech forces see furious action. Desperate; Gloval attempts a blitzkrieg maneuver against the alien warriors and the battle rages through the rings of Saturn.

"Bye-Bye Mars"

Breetai, commander of the Zentraedi forces, takes steps to capture SDF-1: he sets a trap for the ship and calls for help from the ruthless warlord Khyron. When the Robotech fortress visits Mars to investigate the fate of Sara observation base, gravity mines hold the ship and Khyron attacks. Lisa Hayes, exploring the destroyed base, attempts a daring plan to explode the gravity mines. The plan succeeds, but Lisa avoids death only through Rick Hunter's last minute rescue.

"Sweet Sixteen"

Saved for the moment, SDF-1 orbits Mars. Aboard, Minmei prepares a party for her sixteenth birthday. But the celebration is interrupted when Khyron launches another furious attack on the wounded ship.

"Miss Macross"

To boost morale while they struggle with the aliens, Macross City holds a beauty contest and Minmei is named Miss Macross. Watching the broadcast, the Zentraedi are mystified. In their culture the sexes do not mingle or indulge in music, dance or fashion. Seeking to discover more, the Zentraedi commander Breetai dispatches a reconnaissance squad - which is all but destroyed by Rick Hunter.

"Blind Game"

Khyron again attacks the SDF-1 and succeeds in knocking out the ship's radar. As Captain Gloval refuses an ultimatum to surrender, Lisa Hayes mounts a dangerous mission to pilot a radar ship into Zentraedi-controlled space under the protection of Rick Hunter's Vermillion Squad.

"First Contact"

Captured while on their mission, Lisa, Rick, and Ben are taken to the Zentraedi flagship and questioned by Dolza, the supreme commander. The giant aliens are mystified by the earthlings customs and shocked to observe Rick and Lisa kissing. They are convinced that SDF-1 holds the secret to protoculture, the substance that allowed their race to develop, and plan to infiltrate the ship with spies.

"The Big Escape"

When Lisa, Rick, and Ben initiate a plan to escape, they discover that their guard is Max Sterling in his disguised Veritech. He has come to rescue his friends and, despite a perilous pursuit by the Zentraedi, they succeed in returning to SDF-1.

"Blue Wind"

Completing their escape, Lisa, Rick, Max and Ben return to SDF-1 and a hero's welcome. They relate what they have learned of the Zentraedi, and receive promotions. Meanwhile, the alien spies, shrunk down to human size, try to blend in and are amazed by what they observe.

"Gloval's Report"

In a daring plan, Captain Gloval pilots the battle fortress back towards Earth. The Zentraedi commander Khyron pursues, and is about to destroy the Micronians, when his superior, Azonia, forbids him to proceed. Gloval had counted on this, and safely pilots SDF-1 back to Earth. After two years in deep space, the Robotech ship is home, and Gloval prepares a full report.

"Homecoming"

Captain Gloval and Commander Lisa Hayes give their report and try to convince the United Earth Government to negotiate a truce with the Zentraedi. Meanwhile, Rick Hunter and Minmei visit Minmei's parents - who are shocked that they are alive. The government has circulated word that SDF-1, Macross Island and all its inhabitants have been destroyed by terrorists. Because the government wants to maintain its story - and prevent Earth from learning of the alien attack - it refuses to negotiate with the Zentraedi and won't allow the landing of the 70,000 inhabitants of Macross Island.

"Battle Cry"

The SDF-1 must return to space, only to face another furious attack from Khyron and his forces. In the battle, Rick Hunter is shot down by Lisa.

"Phantasm"

Rick Hunter, seriously wounded in an incredible aerial dogfight, is in the hospital. While his body fights for life, his delirious mind travels through a phantasmagoric dreamscape where both Lynn Minmei and Lisa Hayes make appearances.

"Farewell, Big Brother"

While Rick recovers, Roy Fokker's squadron takes on a fierce Zentraedi attack led by Miriya, a beautiful pilot. She challenges Max Sterling and follows him into the ship itself, intent on destroying him. Their battle wreaks havoc on the city, but finally she fails. In the raging battle, Roy is wounded. At first, the wound doesn't seem serious, but later that night, Roy dies. It is up to Lisa Hayes to tell Rick that his "big brother" is gone.

"Bursting Point"

With the civilian population of SDF-1 shrinking due to the catastrophes of war, Captain Gloval is desperate to relocate the survivors to Earth. His broadcast appeal is responded to by the North American Ontario quadrant, but before Gloval can land the refugees, Khyron attacks again. In the face of the Zentraedi offensive, Gloval tries a new barrier-shield system. It protects the ship, but with drastic results: a system overload leads to a chain reaction which destroys part of the Veritech squad and a 25-mile area of Earth.

"Paradise Lost"

The Earth Government lays down the law - the battle fortress is dangerous, and must not come near the planet.

"A New Dawn"

A lull in the war with the Zentraedi invaders allows the citizens of Macross City to celebrate the premiere of Minmei's first film. She costars along with he cousin Kyle, and the film is a huge hit with everyone except Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes. Rick still loves Minmei; Lisa still loves Kyle; and neither can stand to see the one they love kissing someone else - even if it is only in a movie. Even more upset are the Zentraedi who have never seen a movie before and think that humans have developed a new weapon.

"Battle Hymn"

As the Zentraedi prepare to respond, dissension once again breaks out in their ranks and the renegade warrior Khyron launches an attack on Macross City just as the humans are gathering for Minmei's concert.

"Reckless"

Khyron's attack takes its toll on Macross City as fierce combat rages through in the streets. But almost certain victory for the warlord proves elusive when growing numbers of his troops begin to desert, going off in search of the movie star Minmei. Even stranger still, the deserters turn out to be genetically identical to humans. This convinces Captain Gloval that peace is perhaps possible between the Zentraedi and humans.

"Showdown"

Lisa volunteers to return to Earth to try to convince her father, Admiral Hayes, and the rest of the reluctant military command to resume peace negotiations. Meanwhile, action on the romantic front heats up when Max Sterling falls for Miriya, a girl who's also a video game wizard. Minmei's cousin Kyle, recovered from his battle wounds, surprises Minmei by proposing marriage in front of a crowd of reporters.

"Wedding Bells"

Max Sterling is waiting in a park to meet his new girlfriend Miriya when suddenly he is attacked. His assailant is none other than Miriya herself - she is out to kill him. Max subdues her, and the girl makes an astonishing confession: she is actually a Zentraedi warrior, their greatest pilot, and she is tired of being humiliated time and again by Max. She demands that he take her life. Instead, he proposes marriage. The wedding is to be a monumental and unique occasion, the first marriage ever between human and alien. Before the ceremony, Captain Gloval addresses the crowd, pleading for peace, but a faction of the Zentraedi launches an attack on the humans.

"The Messenger"

A truce is finally called, and in the peace talks that follow the alien leaders reveal that one of the humans' greatest weapons is the psychological power of Minmei's singing, which has influenced so many of the Zentraedi warriors to desert from battle.

"Force of Arms"

The alien Zentraedi launch an attack on Earth with their entire armed force. Whole cities are obliterated in a matter of moments. The humans counterattack with two weapons: one psychological, the other military. Minmei's singing with its disorienting effects on the aliens is broadcast to the enemy. Meanwhile Captain Gloval directs the battle fortress SDF-1 into a head-on collision with the aliens' flagship, destroying the entire attacking armada.

"Reconstruction Blues"

Planet Earth has been severely damaged. But the humans' will to survive and rebuild is indomitable. Two years later as he surveys the damage from the sky, Rick Hunter is amazed by all the reconstruction and the signs of new life everywhere. With the passage of time, Rick and Lisa Hayes have become closer friends while Minmei and Kyle have drifted further apart.

"Robotech Masters"

From their home in a remote galaxy, the Robotech Masters have finally managed to locate their lost battle fortress, the SDF-1, the same ship used to wipe out the Zentraedi Armada. Meanwhile, many of the former Zentraedi warriors left on Earth are growing restless and uneasy. Trained for combat alone, they are lost and confused in a life of peace. Large numbers have begun ominously to leave the cities and assemble in the planet's vast desert wastelands. At the same time, other Zentraedi are working together with Earth's human leaders, making plans in case the Robotech Masters should venture to this galaxy in search of their long-lost battle fortress.

"Viva Miriya"

A plan is hatched to steal the powerful Factory Satellite. Lisa, Rick, Max, Mirya and others join Breetai on his ship which is to be used in the attack on the Factory Sattellite under the command of Commander Reno. Rick and Lisa kiss to disoritate the Zentraedi during the attack while Max and Mirya further shock them by showing Dana their child - the Zentraedi having never seen a baby before are shocked further and this tips the balance of the battle in favor of the humans. The factory sattelite is captured and is folded to Earth.

"Khyron's Revenge"

Khyron continues his relentless attacks on Earth and achieves his aim of controlling the last remaining protoculture chamber. Zentraedi who have shrunken themselves to live on Earth are now lining up to return to their former giant size - and become part of Khyron's army. In a desperate defense against the alien forces, the Veritech warriors take to the sky. But the odds are overwhelming and Minmei and Kyle are captured.

"Broken Heart"

Gloating, Khyron takes the two back to his captured base and holds them for ransom. The price for their return is the Robotech battle fortress SDF-1. With Minmei and Kyle's fates in their hands, Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes launch an urgent mission to save them.

"A Rainy Night"

When Lisa Hayes' relationship with Rick Hunter fizzles, Claudia shares some advice with her. She tells Lisa the story of her courtship with the late Roy Fokker - a stormy affair that blossomed into love. Communication is the most important thing, Claudia counsels, and Lisa should let Rick know how she feels.

"Private Time"

Minmei has returned from a morale-boosting tour of the frontier, and she's eager to see Rick. He can't turn down her invitation, and keeps Lisa waiting for a picnic they have planned. When he finally arrives, things go well until Lisa smells Minmei's perfume on Rick's scarf and leaves Rick to ponder his conflicting emotions.

"Season's Greetings"

Khyron lauches a devastating attack on Macross City on Christmas. Skull Squadron and other veritechs are used in rescue operations. Khyron lauched the attack to sap morale but instead it is only strengthed and his plan ultimatly fails

"To the Stars"

While the humans prepare to counterattack the Zentraedi invaders, Admiral Gloval promotes Lisa Hayes to commander of the newly built SDF-2, and she finally finds the courage to tell Rick of her affection for him. Forced to confront his feelings, Rick realizes he loves Lisa and leaves Minmei as the Earth forces fly into battle. In his frenzy to destroy the Earthlings, Khyron mounts a climactic attack that disables the already weakened SDF-1. Using his ship as a brutal weapon, he continues his mission of destruction, steering his ship into a head-on collision that unleashes awesome devastation and decides the fates of Gloval, Lisa and the populations of SDF-1 and SDF-2 - and of Khyron himself. The consequences mark the end of an era in Earth's relations with the aliens.

The Southern Cross

"Dana's Story"

Fifteen years after the destruction of SDF-1 and SDF-2 and the Zentraedi holocaust, Dana, the daughter of Max Sterling and Miriya, is among the first graduates of the United Earth Forces Military Academy. The academy is an oasis of order and optimism on the ravaged planet, by the mood changes when the Robotech Masters arrive from far space in pursuit of their lost protoculture factory.

"False Start"

Now the pilots are on emergency alert. Dana is bright and spunky, and she manages to get herself thrown in the brig because of her escapades. But she gets out in time to shine when she leads her squad into battle with the Robotech Masters. The aliens are surprised by the Earthlings' bold defense, and the first encounter ends with neither side victorious.

"Southern Cross"

As the Robotech Masters continue their attacks, the Earth goes on alert for war. Dana Sterling is assigned to a defensive postition, away from the action. When she sees the main base is in jeopardy, she enters the fight and changes the course of the battle, forcing the bioroids away.

"Volunteers"

Acclaimed as a hero and promoted, Dana volunteers for an even more dangerous mission - reestablishing control of Space Station Liberty. With fellow volunteer Marie Crystal, Dana flies to the orbital station, where she wages a furious battle to free the base and comes face-to-face with the red bioroid which has been haunting her dreams. The alien invaders fight fiercely to hold on to the vital communication link, testing the abilities of Dana and Marie.

"Half Moon"

When Dana and Bowie engage an advance party of Robotech Warriors in a fiery skirmish near the ruins of New Macross City, Bowie is captured. The aliens are excavating the crash site of SDF-1 - backed up by a massive bioroid attack. Dana, circumventing her orders, mounts a dangerous rescue operation while Bowie attempts his own escape.

"Danger Zone"

Trying to avoid a battle on Earth, Supreme Commander Leonard sends the Global forces into space to attack the enemy, but the result is a disaster, with many killed and captured. Again, Dana and the 15th Squad must come to the rescue, using an untried plan to disrupt the workings of the huge Robotech Fortress. With the fates of the prisoners and possibly all of Earth in the balance, Dana and the 15th roar into battle against the Robotech Masters.

"Prelude to Battle"

As Dana and the 15th Squad prepare for a reconnaissance mission on the downed alien battle fortress, Bowie Grant is arrested twice by the Global Military Police in an off-limits music club. His desire to play the piano lands him in a cell just when the rest of the squad leaves for its assignment. Bowie is freed in time to join his comrades as they penetrate and explore the ominous alien battleship - secretly observed all the while by the Robotech Masters.

"The Trap"

Their discoveries include a high tech biomechanical android factory and Musica, a mysterious and beguiling woman who plays a cosmic harp. By the time they realize they are in a trap, the 15th Squad is locked in jeopardy deep within the deadly fortress.

"Metal Fire"

Examining a captured bioroid, the Earth Forces struggle to unlock the nature and motives of the Robotech invaders. Risking her position, Dana objects to a plan to kill the opposing pilots - she feels a strange kinship with the aliens. Meanwhile, the Robotech Masters are eager to regain the protoculture matrix before another alien race, the Invid, reaches Earth. They decide to take human prisoners to probe their knowledge and usefulness.

"Stardust"

Combat rages through the city as the invaders seize Earthling and the Global Command counterattackes. Dana carries out a desperate mission to destroy the Robotech ship, but when the aliens receive help from their hidden armada, her plans go awry.

"Outsiders"

Zor Prime - an enemy bioroid pilot suffering from amnesia is captured by the Global Forces. They think he is an Earthling forced into service, not realizing that he is a clone of the genius who invented Robotechnology, and that the Robotech Masters have implanted controls in him. As the military police probe and study Zor Prime, the aliens are aware of their every move. Dana's half-alien parentage continues to cause her confusing feelings and strange dreams. Bowie cannot stop thinking about Musica, the alien harpist. But their personal problems are small when compared to the frayed defenses of Earth.

"Deja Vu"

A reconnaissance mission from SDF-3 fights through the alien war fleet and is rescued by the 15th Squad, only to bring word that no aid will be coming.

"A New Recruit"

The captured alien Zor Prime is made a member of the 15th Squad, which delights Dana, but not all the others. She enjoys training the exceptional new recruit and feels a kinship with him. With their secret control of Zor Prime, the Robotech Masters are able to observe military plans made on Earth. When Commander Leonard, despite opposition from some, throws the Earth forces into a full-blown battle, they take advantage of their knowledge.

"Triumvirate"

In a fiery clash, the human forces must struggle against a superior enemy. The 15th Squad is left out of the battle. Instead they take Zor Prime to the buried wreck of the SDF-1, where the eerie remains and strange growths stimulate his memory of his mysterious previous life.

"Clone Chamber"

The Robotech Masters' supply of protoculture is dwindling, causing their bioroids to malfunction and their enemies, the Invids, to draw closer. Still, their remaining forces, aided by intelligence unknowingly supplied by Zor Prime, are formidable. They keep the combat pressure on Air Cavalry One, led by Lieutenant Marie Crystal, which has been sent to rescue the defeated Earth attack fleet. Supreme Commander Leonard plans a second offensive against the aliens and places General Emerson in charge. Emerson opposes Leonard and knows that the mission is perilous, but he assumes his duty and prepares for the struggle.

"Love Song"

Military Intelligence searches for the source of the continuing leaks, without success. Marie keeps up her pursuit of Sean, and finally gets what she wants - a date. Unfortunately, things aren't always what they seem, and the evening takes a bewildering turn.

"The Hunters"

While playing video games with the other member of the 15th Squad, Louie devises a system for targeting weapons with eyesight. He and Dana develop the device for training purposes, but when the military used it for combat, Louie revolts and tries to destroy his creation.

"Mind Game"

The Earth Defense Fleet, under General Emerson, needs Louie's invention for the titanic struggle against the Robotech Masters. Both sides unleash massive forces and the balance swings back and forth. Zor Prime rallies Dana and the 15th Squad as their attack blasts and penetrates the enemy command ship. But, when victory seems at hand, the alien commanders reactivate their hidden neurosensor in Zor Prime and the brave warrior for Earth again becomes a pawn in their game.

"Dana in Wonderland"

Pursued all the while, Dana and the 15th Squad range through the Robotech Masters' command ship, discovering many of the secrets of life in this complex alien civilization. The advanced biotechnology allows complete control of the cloned population - but contact with humans and their emotions has an unsettling effect on them. Bowie finds Musica, the alien woman who has haunted his thoughts. He is able to help her unlock the emotions hidden within her and she rebels against the cold-hearted Masters.

"Crisis Point"

With Musica's help, Zor Prime also overcomes the mental control of the alien masters and rejoins his human friends. Now the challenge is to escape from the huge ship as the Robotech Masters fight furiously for control. And Zor Prime, now neither programmed clone nor human, must find his own destiny.

"Daydreamer"

Musica returns to Earth with the 15th Squad and the rest of the attack fleet, but Nova and the military police think that she may be a spy. Bowie and Musica flee to the ruins of SDF-1, where the protoculture has been invaded by the Invid "Flower of Life," forerunners of an enemy alien race. With the Invid flowers also depleting the protoculture aboard their command ship, the Robotech Masters are losing control of the clone population.

"Final Nightmare"

Desperate, they plan an all-out effort to seize Earth's supply of Protoculture. Their attack will be met by an equally furious campaign led by Emerson. Zor Prime regains his memory of the past when he sees the Invid flowers in SDF-1 - now the true nature of protoculture and the Invid threat can be explained.

"The Invid Connection"

The second Robotech War reaches a climax as the Robotech Masters and the Earth Forces meet in total combat. The aliens take brutal steps in a desperate fight for survival, while the humans struggle against their huge armada. As he maneuvers to defend Earth, Emerson is captured.

"Catastrophe"

A prisoner exchange to regain Emerson goes awry and the 15th Squad is trapped aboard the alien fortress-ship. Zor Prime reveals his goals - rebellion against the culture which his former self created. Bent on destruction, Zor Prime demolishes the Robotech Masters' power - and their ship. The immediate danger has passed, but the protoculture has been spread over the Earth - making the Invid onslaught inevitable.

The New Generation

"The Invid Invasion"

The saga continues years after the Second Robotech War. A group of reinforcements from the SDF-3 is sent to invade an Invid-dominated Earth. Hopes are high, the new Robotech soldiers are freshly trained, with new weapons and a will to win back their planet. Their efforts meet with limited success, and their strike is utterly defeated leaving only a few scattered remnants. One of these remnants is a lone soldier named Scott Bernard, a man who is out for revenge against the Invid. Armed with only a reconfigurable motorcycle, a holographic recording of his dead fiance, and a salvager he meets along the way, he begins his battle to destroy the Invid.

"The Lost City"

Scott and his new partner Rand travel to an island city, entering despite several warnings from the cities ex-inhabitants. They meet a young girl named Annie who leads them to a neighboring island to look for other soldiers. Meanwhile, Scott and Rand's contact within the city conspires with the Invid to provide their capture. The battle is hard, and it looks as though Scott, Rand, and Annie are done for. From out of nowhere a single cyclone rider appears and helps them fight off the Invid Shock Troopers. The cyclone rider disappears as quickly as she came, and Scott and Rand discover that the people of this "Lost City" conspire with the Invid in return for peace. Scott and Rand leave disgusted, and Annie joins the battle.

"Lonely Soldier Boy"

Scott, Rand, and Annie happen upon a frontier town, run-down by the constant wars and apathy. A famous singer is performing at a local club, and the group walks in on a rather heated criticism of her performance. The local riff-raff are restless, and have chosen the famous Yellow Dancer to torment. A woman, a customer of the club, intervenes in the dispute, causing the wrath of the thugs to fall upon her. She is able to handle herself, and more importantly, her attackers. Scott notices it was the cyclone rider who saved their lives in the previous episode. The thugs, dealing with their defeat by Scott, Rand, Annie, Yellow Dancer, and Rook the cyclone rider decide to kidnap a local man. His friend, though he has a sordid past with the military, decides to join forces with Scott's group to rescue his friend. The rescue operation is noticed by the Invid, and Scott realises that this deserter, named Lunk, has a lot to offer his makeshift team, most notably a well-armed and maintained Alpha fighter. Lunk decides to join Scott's group, as does Rook and Yellow Dancer, who reveals that she is actually a he named Lancer: a disguise meant to shroud his attacks on the Invid.

"Survival"

The team is learning to live and fight together. Some people rub others the wrong way, especially Rook and Rand. While getting supplies, Scott, Rook, Annie, Rand, and Lunk are ambushed by Invid. Scott realises that he needs the Alpha fighter to battle this squad, but is afraid to indicate their campsite by making a straight line to the fighter. Lancer patiently waits by the fighter while the rest of the group fight the Invid. Rand reveals both his survival skill in the episode, along with his excellent reasoning. He catches fish and helps the group to deal with the horrors of the wild, namely leeches. He also discovers that the Invid can sense the use of active protoculture (the fuel that runs their machines). This enables the team to elude the Invid by using only the minimum amount of protoculture. Scott finally reaches the fighter and destroys the Invid patrol that has been tailing them.

"Curtain Call"

Scott's group of makeshift freedom fighters stages a raid on an Invid protoculture store to replenish their own supplies. This human-run Invid reserve is drawn off-guard by a huge concert by the famous Yellow Dancer. Scott, Rook, and Rand infiltrate the storage complex armed with rope and an ancient map of the buildings and secret passages. No plan is ever perfect, and Scott, Rook, and Rand find themselves locked in a sealed room, filling slowly with water. Eventually, they get out, but Yellow Dancer has postponed the end of her concert too long, causing the city guard to get nervous. When the robbery is discovered, the Invid arrive. But with a replenished supply of protoculture, Scott's group scores an easy victory.

"Hard Times"

Rook withdraws from the group more and more, until she finally leaves during the night. Rand follows to see what she is up to. Scott knows that they left, but decides to let them go. Rand follows Rook to a cavern that surrounds a city. Rook is at home, through a series of flashbacks and conversations, Rook remembers why she left and the people that made her leave. Her days in a street gang haunt her, and she confronts the members of a rival gang who beat her severely. This episode is filled with excellent character development for Rook, and some depth is added to Rand's character at the same time. Scott decides to look for Rook and Rand, and ends up tangling with the Invid. Once again, Rook saves Scott from certain doom, and puts her abusers to shame at the same time. Rand helps Rook to see her mother one last time, and they are on their way, Rook makes a vow to herself to stay with the group of freedom fighters, who have become her family.

"Paper Hero"

Scott's group of fighters continues on their journey to find the Invid headquarters, making a stop in a small town at Lunk's urging. Lunk made a promise to a friend he had in the military, who died in an Invid attack. His promise was to deliver a book to his friend's father who lives in this town. The group gets behind Lunk's effort and his happy to spend a little time in a small town. Unfortunately, the townspeople don't feel the same way. The group begins to notice that the townspeople are giving them the runaround. Eventually, after some of the group gets kidnapped, Lunk forces an explanation out of the mayor. It turns out that the father of Lunk's friend tried to keep the townspeople out of the war with the Invid. He wanted them to leave the fighting to the soldiers. The townspeople wouldn't stand for the interference. In the end, they killed the peacemaker. Lunk is disappointed, and ends the episode in a melancholy mood. He decides to keep the book to remember some of the things that the father of his friend stood for.

"Eulogy"

The group comes to a settlement of soldiers led by the legendary Colonel Jonathan Wolfe. It is not a military outpost, but rather a safe place where they come and relax. Apparently, the Invid leave the city alone due to the number of soldiers encamped there. In Scott's dealings with the Invid, he had seen no such fear. He doubts the party mentality of the town. But Scott agrees to go along on one of Jonathan Wolfe's missions and is ambushed. Rand and Rook confront Wolfe, and Wolfe agrees to take them to look for Scott. Coincidentally, they are ambushed again but Rook finds Scott and they fight their way out. At some point, Rand gets separated from the other two, and witnesses a meeting between Wolfe and an Invid. The Invid gives Wolfe a pack of protoculture. Rand makes the connection in his head: Wolfe trades soldier and weaponry to the Invid in exchange for peace and protoculture. Rand confronts Wolfe, but Wolfe is veteran and easily overcomes Rand. When Wolfe sees that Scott is alive, he has a change of heart. Scott reminds Wolfe of his youth, and he commander's Scott's Alpha fighter and fights off the Invid attack. Wolfe, however, is wounded by the last Invid and dies in Scott's arms. Wolfe realises that he was wrong, that turning against his own people. This is a sobering experience for Scott and the others, but they press on toward Reflex Point, the Invid headquarters.

"The Genesis Pit"

While scouting out a new campsite, Scott, Rand, and Annie fall into one of the Invid leader's "Genesis Pits" where she is doing strange experiments. Dinosaurs, monsters, Invid, and possession are all part of the evolutionary experiments conducted by the Invid leader, or Regis. Rand figures that the Regis is trying to figure out what the dominant species on Earth is and how she can exploit it. Scott and Rand find out, through the Regis' possession of Annie, that the Regis plans to exterminate the humans in favour of the Invid's ultimate life form.

"Enter Marlene"

The rag-tag group of freedom fighters arrive at the fallback point of Admiral Hunter's invasion force. Unfortunately, the Invid had arrived earlier and the invasion force was only a scattered bunch of garbage. Scott is shocked and begins to lose hope. While on a scouting mission, Rook and Rand find a naked woman who appears to be a battle survivor. In actuality, she is an agent of the Invid Regis, engineered to spy on the freedom fighters. Rook and Rand take her back to their camp. Lancer and Lunk find several new fighters to add to their arsenal, and get to try them out against an Invid patrol. Scott realises that others are relying on him and enters into battle, destroying the Invid patrol.

"The Secret Route"

A mountain range lies between Scott's group and Reflex Point, a mountain range with an Invid base right in the middle of it. The group finds that there is a "secret route" through the mountains, but the map that indicates it costs quite a bit of money. Scott's group reluctantly looks for ways to make money. Lancer has a brush with his past, and we find out why he dresses up like a woman. His lost love is the fiance or the seller of the map, and she tells Lancer that the maps are fakes. There is more human betrayal in this episode, along with some brushes with death. In the end, Lancer's lost love stays with her fiance, and Lancer and the rest of the group trudge on to Reflex Point.

"The Fortress"

After receiving a real map of the mountains, the rebels find that the only way through the range is through the Invid. Scott devises a strategy to attack the base, with some very useful help from Rand. Rand and Annie sneak into the base, and attempt to knock out their protoculture detector. Scott orders everyone out of the base while he single-handedly destroys the base and the Invid troopers.

"Sandstorm"

While camping inside a cave during a sandstorm, the group begins to bicker. Rand ends up being the object of everybody's anger because he gives water to Marlene that no one knew he had. Rand takes the criticism poorly and braves the sandstorm to find more water. Unfortunately, the sandstorm blinds Rand and he falls into a sand pit that contains spores from the Flower of Life. Rand has a hallucinatory dream, induced by the spores. He gains insight into the Invid's plans of the domination of the universe. Marlene is Rand's guide through his hallucinatory adventure, but Rand doesn't make the connection between the Invid and Marlene.

"Annie's Wedding"

The journey to Reflex Point takes Scott's group through a jungle farm holding the Flower of Life. This jungle is inhabited by a primitive tribe of people who worship the gods of the river, and believe that the rebel group has angered the river god. Meanwhile, the Regis creates a new type of Invid mecha meant to provide heavy resistance to the Earth people. She begins to deploy the prototypes in an effort to attack the freedom fighters. The rebel band helps the river tribe defeat an Invid patrol, and then slip under a huge Invid hive in rafts. This saves immeasurably on protoculture and keeps the Invid from detecting their protoculture use. However, the freedom fighters are in low spirits after leaving Annie behind to marry a tribal prince.

"Separate Ways"

In a devastated city, Scott's group is driven into the subway by the Regis' new mecha. What's more, they are sealed inside a small section of subway by the Regis' constant effort at their destruction. The Regis is not sure that the freedom fighters are dead, so she orders her Shock Troopers to dig through the rubble. Tensions run high with the buried alive, what with the recent loss of Annie. Lunk snaps and starts fights with both Rand and Scott. Lunk's blow-up causes several people to think, especially Rook and Rand. They decide to leave the group together, in hopes to find more people and possibly provide a little rest and relaxation for the group. However, deep down they both know that when they leave they are never coming back. Eventually, Rand engineers a nifty little escape, and the group escapes their would-be tomb. To their surprise, Annie is waiting for them near the other vehicles. The group is happy, but Rand and Rook still decide to leave. Lunk, Lancer, Marlene, and Annie decide to stay with Scott and keep fighting the Invid. At the last moment, Rook and Rand turn back and rejoin the group. The ordeal meant to split apart the group ended up unifying it, and Reflex Point is not far away.

"Metamorphosis"

The group of freedom fighters are at the northern tip of what was once called "South America." They devise a plan to cross the body of water between the two continents, using old gasoline driven ships that they found mothballed in a local shipyard. The rebels busy themselves with their preparation for the crossing. The Regis is also busy. She has finally found the perfect life form to dominate the Earth: the human being. She immediately creates a human prince and princess of the Invid named Corg and Sera, respectively. The Regis sends her children to combat the rebels that have corrupted her secret agent, Ariel (Marlene). However, Sera has similar problems to the lost secret agent. Human emotions are her downfall, and cause her to hesitate when it comes to destroying Lancer. The beginnings of love occur between Sera and Lancer. Eventually, the rebels' cunning and courage fight off the Invid and they make it to the northern continent.

"The Midnight Sun"

After crossing the Gulf of Mexico, the freedom fighters find themselves in a snowy mountain range. Thinking that they have eluded the Invid for the time being, Scott's group is in high spirits, joking and eating on of their few decent meals. They do not realise yet that Marlene is an Invid, and that the Regis is using her to track the rebels. Unfortunately for the group, Sera also finds herself and her shock troopers in the mountain range, stalking the rebels. She is desperate to make up for her hesitation earlier, but finds that she cannot hurt the rebel known as "Lancer." She orders her troops to attack the group, and orients herself on the leader of the group. The sudden attack splits up the group, separating them from their mecha. Their only hope is to utilise their snowy surroundings against the Invid. Sera confronts Marlene for the first time, and the Regis telepathically tries to bring her child back to the hive. However, she is unsuccessful, and Sera is surprised by the appearance of the other freedom fighters. Scott's group moves on, Marlene trying to forget the strange experience, and Lancer quite a bit suspicious of "this woman we call 'Marlene.'"

"Ghost Town"

From the mountains to the desert. A few small towns are eking out a meager existence in the shadow of a huge Invid protoculture farm. Scott and the other rebels, still on their journey to Reflex Point, must find a way around or through the protoculture farm. Unfortunately, some members of the group have other things to deal with as well. Scott and Rand are captured by a local police force, and a local thief force steals their cyclones. Lancer and Marlene are taken in by some equipment wholesalers who just happen to be comrades of the thieves who stole Scott and Rand's cyclones. It turns out that these thieves are ex-soldiers, who fought with Admiral Rick Hunter in an earlier Robotech war. They quit the service, they had seen too much war. By the time Scott finds the thieves, Lancer has heard their story and forgiven them for their cowardice. Scott does not forgive them so easily, they earn his respect only when they show up in a battle against the Invid, when they sacrifice their lives to destroy the Invid. It is a haunting episode, filled with duty, love, remorse, and forgiveness.

"Frostbite"

Out of the desert, and back into the mountains. The cold has dowsed the spirits of the freedom fighters, just as the constant fighting has. Luckily, while passing through a high mountain pass, Rand finds a huge city buried under an ice canopy. The city provides both an escape from the cold and an escape for the war with the Invid. The group splits up and enjoys the lost city, which they discover was called Denver. Scott and Marlene find that they have a great attraction between them and Rand and Rook find that whatever is between them is something bordering on hate. Annie is in heaven, she finds a new dress and a whole stockpile of peppermint candy. Lunk and Lancer discuss the current trend in Invid mecha, how they keep getting better and better. The escape from the war is not as complete as the group expected. Corg, the Invid prince, is hot on their trail. With a few of the advanced Shock Troopers, Corg attacks the rebels unaware. Only by bringing the city's icy shell down can Scott's group stop the attack. As the group leaves the crumbling city, Lunk sets off a tremendous explosion, destroying the city, and hopefully the Invid inside.

"Birthday Blues"

The rebels are forced to sneak around a deserted town while Annie mourns her destroyed birthday plans. Corg is near, and is easily tricked into retreat by a gadget of Lancer's. Scott and the others use the break in the Invid threat to throw a birthday party for Annie. Annie gets everything she ever wanted: a cake, a big jar of peppermints, a new dress, a fireworks and airplane show, and most of all, she has a family. And although she would never admit it, that is exactly what she wanted. This celebration is hardly just a gift for Annie. It was also a welcome bonding opportunity for the group.

"Hired Gun"

The gang is close to Reflex Point, but they have to deal with a local problem first. A seeming madman is killing all of the soldiers in the sector, and Scott's group vows to end this madman's killing spree. However, after Rook and Rand have a run in with a mysterious man named Dusty Aires, they begin to doubt the legend of the random killer. As always, wherever there is a buildup of military might, the Invid are their. The posse assembled to bring down Dusty Aires brings also the wrath of the Invid, and Scott's group see the awesome power of the Invid, and how lucky they are to have gotten so far. Conversation with Dusty Aires provides insight into his psychosis, and also insight into the limits of human friendship. The group presses on. They can feel how close they are to Reflex Point.

"The Big Apple"

Scott's rebel group is only a day or two away from Reflex Point, but they are badly in need of protoculture. They stop off in the remnants of New York City, which was amazingly spared from the Zentraedi holocaust. Posing as homeless people, Rand, Lancer, and Annie find the local Invid protoculture storage. The group decides to steal some protoculture. Unfortunately, Annie drops some protoculture canisters, alerting the Invid to their presence. They are only saved by a would-be actor, who convinces the Invid that a stray can was the cause of the commotion. Meanwhile, under pressure from the Regis, Corg decides to destroy all of the inhabitants of New York City. Sera tries to stop him, but decides to use the situation as a chance to speak with Marlene. Again Marlene refuses to acknowledge that she is an Invid. Scott, Lunk, and Rook are the only ones close enough to mecha to fight Corg and his troops. Amazingly, the small group of three fighters stage a successful counterattack against the local Invid hive, and drive off the Invid temporarily.

"Reflex Point"

As the title says, the freedom finally reaches Reflex Point, ready for their assault. However, they are a little late for the assault. An advance force from Admiral Hunter had attacked earlier, and by the time Scott's group arrived, they had already been defeated. The ground around Reflex Point is littered with destroyed Invid and human mecha. At first, there are no survivors. Suddenly, a single cyclone rider appears, carrying a camera where her gun should be. She is Sue Graham, assigned to document the battles with the Invid. Scott's group is horrified to find out that she filmed her comrades' destruction without lifting a finger to help them. Eventually, she seems to come around, and proposes a plan to fight the Invid. Scott realises that her plan to destroy the Invid is actually just a plan to get some great camera footage of more human mecha being destroyed. The freedom fighters surprise her, and come out of the battle as victors. During the battle, Graham is mortally wounded. She dies after realising her mistakes. Sue Graham is not the only casualty. During the battle, Marlene receives a cut on her arm. Where red blood should be flowing, only green blood appears. At that moment, standing next to an Invid commander bleeding green blood, Marlene and the rest of the group realises her true identity. Marlene runs off crying, and the others stand and watch, wondering if they will ever see her again.

"Dark Finale"

The battle for the Earth begins. Ground troops from the newly arrived Robotech Expeditionary Force have linked up with Scott's band of freedom fighters. Lunk has been reinstated in military. All is ready for the attack. A lot happens during this episode. During the fight, Rand professes his love for Rook, which she returns. Lancer's Alpha is hit by an Invid energy bolt, and is saved from destruction by Sera. The rebels are led to the Regis by Marlene, and the Regis explains her plans. The episode ends, and the SDF-3 and Admiral Hunter still hasn't arrived. Scott vows to destroy Corg, and the others are left inside Reflex Point with the Regis.

"Symphony of Light"

The final episode of Robotech picks up where the last left off. Scott is fighting Corg, and is shot down. Meanwhile, Rook and Rand climb in their Alpha's, and decide to help Scott out. Lunk and Annie vacate the battle scene, Lunk is a ground fighter, and the ground attack is over. The Regis decides to leave the Earth, and take her children with her. Lancer agrees to help Sera fight off the attacks until the Regis can leave. Scott finds his Beta fighter, and destroys Corg. The Regis leaves in a ball of fire, destroying the remaining human forces left in orbit. Lancer stages a concert, in which he reveals his true identity. Sera was left behind, and she is at the concert to cheer Lancer on. Rook and Rand leave to start their lives together. Lunk, Annie, and Marlene drive off to start a farm. Scott flies back into space to search for the still-absent Admiral Hunter.
