"When I was fighting my cancer, I was angry at the injustice of it.
And its meaninglessness. Then I realized
that, that was the struggle~to give it meaning, to make sense out of it, just like life."
I really really like this episode. I don't adore this episode. But I really really like this
episode. It gets a ten for shippiness, a ten for character, and, like, a 4 for plot.
The plot. A red eyed monstor in the forrest? Oh pa-leese. Chris, think of
something more original. Been there done that.
Character. First, let’s look at the title. “Detour.” M and S not only took a literal detour,
but they took a metaphorical one. I noticed a real connection between M and S during
this ep. I am speaking mainly of THE scene. Scully actually opened up to Mulder!! I hit
the floor. And what she said. That really hit home for me. Finding meaning. That is the
purpose. Do we not love Dana Scully, or what?
I also noticed a lot more joking and the like, friendliness. Scully with the wine, Betty and
Wilma, Cockroaches who ate ccincinati, towers of furniture ...
The shippiness. This goes along with what I just said, because with the friendliness
comes shippiness. And do I even have to mention the sleeping bags line?
So all in all, a really good ep. I would only improved the plot. Everything else, A+.
