Rachel's Friends

First off, we have to start with Kitty Pryde. Rachel has met two Katherine Prydes in her time(s); the first was Katherine Rasputin, X-Man and wife to Collosus. The second was 14 year old Kitty Pryde (now code-named Shadowcat) who had a crush on Collosus but never married him. The two of them became the best of friends, and before she went back to the future for good, Rachel made Kitty promise to hold her and welcome her back when Rachel is born to Scott and Jean (notice I said *when* not *if*!)

Next up we have Rachel's erstwhile 'mom', and former(?) Phoenix, Jean Grey. The Jean of Rachel's time died when Ray was still a young girl; the Jean of mainstream Marvel had also died (more than once, coincidentally). She was pocessed by a cosmic entity called Phoenix, manipulated, and went insane with power, eventually committing suicide.

Rachel arrived after Jean had died; she was not pleased to learn of her mothers death and her fathers marriage to another woman. After a time, Jean was discovered to live, placed in a healing cocoon by the Phoenix force. Rachel and her mother didn't have the best relationship at first; evil clones, resurrections, and daughters from alternate timelines were too much for Jean to bear, and she rejected Rachel. It took quite some time for Jean and Ray to have any kind of relationship at all, but Jean and she seemed to become much closer and Jean and Scott seem eager to give birth to Ray in this timeline.
